Visited after 22:00 on November 17, 2013. Even though I had an early dinner at Ousho, after about 5 hours, I started to feel hungry again. It was really troublesome. (I've only had two meals today) Making excuses to myself, I conveniently excluded the dessert. Anyway, I remembered this place nearby and thought it would be nice to have a drink. The "Salmon and Salmon Roe Kamameshi" featured in the December issue of Leaf magazine's "101 Delicious Eateries in Kyoto and Shiga" looked very delicious and left a lasting impression, so it was my first visit. Location: On the northeast corner of Shijo Nishidoin, heading north along Nishidoin on the right side. Before the Seven-Eleven. Items we had: Drinks were draft beer for 600 yen and a half cup of sake for 500 yen. - Sesame tofu for 100 yen? (estimated from other menu items) - Chicken liver simmered for 500 yen. The liver is flavored with ginger but still retains its shape and tenderness. You can see the careful work put into it. This dish significantly improved the overall impression. - Kizushi (mackerel sushi) for 850 yen. The seasoning is just right, not too salty or vinegary. - Sake lees cream cheese for 450 yen. The saltiness and flavor of the sake lees surprisingly complement the cheese very well. Goes well with sake and beer. - Crab meat and crab miso croquettes, 2 for 800 yen, but they kindly served 1 for 400 yen? Enjoying the hot, freshly fried croquette. - Salmon and salmon roe kamameshi for 1,300 yen. The salmon roe is served separately. Spoon the kamameshi into a bowl and top it with salmon roe as desired. Simple and delicious as it looks. The total bill was 4,700 yen. Overall impression: Since it was a counter seat, I was able to chat a bit with the owner, who had long experience in Japanese cuisine. (According to Leaf, he honed his skills for 12 years at top hotels and traditional Japanese restaurants.) Also, I learned that the owner is a craftsman, not just managing the business based on numbers, but also acknowledging the pride and dedication of craftsmen in their work, making it a very pleasant place to work. Personally, I had a very good impression. The dishes reflect the experience of training in Japanese cuisine. They are carefully prepared with attention to detail. While it has a casual izakaya atmosphere, you can enjoy Japanese-style dishes at a reasonable price. I think this type of restaurant is quite rare, so it is valuable in that sense. Thank you for the meal♪

I made a reservation and visited the restaurant. It's a bit of a walk from Karasuma. The lighting is dim, giving it a stylish feel from the moment you walk in. The dishes all had a gentle and delicious taste. I highly recommend the drool chicken! The staff weren't very friendly, which was a bit disappointing.

This is the second place I visited after Enboka Kyoto. It's close to the hotel, so I called on the day and was told to contact them if there were any available seats. I visited with two people. It was crowded on a Saturday night and fully booked. The appetizer was very delicious, so you can expect good things. We ordered the Conger Eel and Plum Jelly for 1200 yen, the Crab and Crab Miso Cream Croquette for 530 yen, and the Eel and Tsukune-Imo (mashed potato) rolled in dashi for 1000 yen. They were all delicious, but the croquette was a bit over-fried and just okay. The rolled dish had eel and grated tsukune-imo inside, with an elegant seasoning and a fluffy texture that was delicious. It was a great place for a casual drink with sake and oolong tea. Thank you for the meal. It was delicious.

I visited a restaurant in the Shijo area looking for a late-night meal and sake after 11 PM. It was a bit challenging to find a place that was still open, but luckily I found this restaurant. They had a good selection of Japanese sake, including local Kyoto brands and delicious premium sake suitable for hot sake. The food was all delicious and well-prepared, with each dish offering a unique and tasty twist. The standout dish for me was the oil sardine and sansho pepper kamameshi rice, which had a rich flavor with the oil sardine blending perfectly with the rice and the sansho pepper adding a nice touch. Overall, it was a very enjoyable restaurant with delicious food, including the kamameshi rice.

There were so many menu items that I wanted to try. I forgot to take photos of the menu... Each dish had a unique touch and I was very satisfied. I thought the bill would be high since I also had drinks, but it was actually quite affordable. I enjoyed everything from the beginning to the end.

We visited with 4 people, including a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old. [Taste] The food was delicious. The specialty was kama-meshi, which had a gentle flavor with a rich dashi broth. We were happy with the generous amount of salmon roe. And the portions were large! Compared to similar restaurants in Tokyo, where the portions are often a bit small, everything here was satisfying. [Service] When we informed them in advance about our child's allergies, they kindly let us know that they could remove certain items from the menu on the day of our visit. It was very reassuring to see them handle this situation flexibly on the spot. [Value for Money] The generous portions made us feel like we got good value for our money. The prices for drinks were also reasonable. If we didn't have kids with us, we would have enjoyed more drinks. The restaurant was fully booked, and several groups were turned away. It's no wonder it's a popular spot. Thank you for the meal.

I visited based on Tabelog. It's a bit of a walk from Karasuma. They offered course dishes, but we followed the recommendation of the staff and ordered a la carte on the day. There were plenty of seats inside, but since there were two of us, we sat at the counter. The counters were separated from the next one, making it easy to converse. There were many bottles of alcohol on the counter, so the table felt a bit cramped. The dishes were so-so, maybe my choices weren't the best, haha, but the "anago" dish in the photo was really delicious! I highly recommend trying this dish!

The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, but the taste was average for the price. The deep-fried taro was crispy and delicious when freshly fried. I was looking forward to the scallop and kujo green onion mixed rice, but the green onion was overpowering and the scallop flavor was weak. The dishes were served promptly.

The food at this restaurant was delicious. The fish, in particular, was very tasty. I especially enjoyed the tilefish tempura and sashimi platter, and could feel that they value their ingredients. We sat at a table for four. The tables are quite close to each other, with bamboo blinds separating them, but they were not lowered. It's fine for groups of eight, but it might be a bit bothersome if the neighboring group is different. There is no button to call the staff, so you need to wait for the right timing to get their attention. The entrance is clean, but the interior facilities seemed a bit old.

I made a reservation for 8 p.m. on a weekday evening, but the restaurant was bustling. It seemed like there were many reservations even on the same day. We had the 4000 yen course that we reserved, and every dish from the appetizer assortment was delicious and impressive! The flavors were so meticulous, and every dish was truly delicious. The most impressive dish was the crab miso croquette. The crispy texture of the batter and the rich crab miso filling inside were amazing. I've had plenty of crab cream croquettes before, but why haven't I encountered crab miso croquettes until now...!? I loved it so much. I was so convinced that anything I ordered at this restaurant would be absolutely delicious, so I also ordered the squid-stuffed shumai. The squid had a strong presence in the shumai and it was also delicious. It's great that they have a wide selection of sake on the menu. I would love to visit again! Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The portion size, the taste, and the price - the cost performance is excellent!! First of all, the appetizer platter was amazing, and it felt like they didn't charge us for it?? The sea bream tempura with sauce was delicious! The oyster fry with tartar sauce was delicious! I forgot to take a photo, but the scallop and Kujyo green onion rice cooked in a pot was delicious! The salad was also tasty, but be aware that the wasabi in the dressing was quite strong, so if you're not a fan, take note.

Located in Shijo-Omiya, Kyoto, "So" is a restaurant where I managed to get a last-minute reservation on the day! Even on weekdays, the restaurant is always full!! I wonder if I just got lucky with the reservation? Here's what I ordered!! Assorted sashimi, deep-fried taro with shrimp sauce, foie gras chawanmushi, fried oysters, fried chicken, eel butter kamameshi. The eel butter kamameshi was delicious♡ They said it was equivalent to 4.5 rice bowl servings, but it was actually only 2 bowls...!!! Did I order too much? haha. The dishes were all delicious, but I couldn't help but think that the presentation of the sashimi and fried chicken didn't look very appetizing, which was a shame. They have a wide variety of kamameshi, which made me happy as a kamameshi lover!! I wish I could have tried more dishes!!

The food is delicious no matter what you order, and the cost performance is great. It's a good restaurant for a casual meal in Kyoto. However, the service is poor. I was told to wait at the table when I tried to go to the restroom, and even after checking a few times, they still hadn't come. The level of the part-time hall staff seems too low, which I feel is affecting the restaurant's rating. I wonder if something can be done about it.

Visited the restaurant alone at night. The seats were almost full, so I was seated at the counter. Ordered tofu salad, hirame umeboshi jelly, iwashi with sansho pepper oil, young chicken with Nishin sauce, draft beer, and Kanmiki sake (from Yamaguchi Prefecture). All the dishes were delicious. They had a mix of traditional and creative Japanese cuisine, and the presentation was fantastic! They offer half-size portions (both in quantity and price), making it easy to try various dishes even when dining alone. A place I'd like to take my friends to when they visit Kyoto. Added a lift to the bill. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I visited a Japanese restaurant in Chikyo Ward, Tobigasayama-cho for dinner♪(*^▽^*) We made a reservation online in advance and were seated at the counter for two people. The dimly lit interior allowed us to watch the chef prepare the dishes. We started with drinks, maybe a bottled beer♡ It was cold and delicious, really refreshing~ Next, the appetizers arrived - all three dishes were delicious with rich flavors. Each dish was carefully prepared! The appetizer cost 500 yen per person, which was worth it! We ordered: - Deep-fried eggplant and raw wheat gluten for 850 yen - Red wine-steamed duck breast for 1,200 yen - Deep-fried taro with crab sauce for 850 yen I particularly enjoy raw wheat gluten, especially the Kyoto variety, as it has a great taste. The duck breast was perfect with alcohol, and being steamed in wine made it tender~ The taro tempura came in a serving of five pieces and filled us up nicely♡ They offer over 20 types of sake at all times, so it's recommended for sake lovers♪ By the time we left the restaurant, it was almost full. A popular spot★ The harmony between Kyoto's dashi and ingredients left us satisfied♡ Thank you for the feast\(^o^)/

It was our first family trip. I wanted to make Mirai happy, so I booked this restaurant. I had an asthma attack on the way at White Base. (Feels good♡) Huh⁈ Gion Festival starts tomorrow? Praying Mantis? First, let's toast with Mirai with the silver one. For the meal order, we couldn't make it in time for the course meal, so we chose popular dishes we researched in advance. - Assorted sashimi - Low-temperature cooked chicken liver - Oboro tofu salad - Roast beef - Crab and crab miso cream croquette The sashimi was all fresh seasonal fish. Delicious and fresh. The crab miso cream croquette is so tasty! Everyone loves it! The famous low-temperature cooked chicken liver. This is the best. It has a deep umami flavor like foie gras with its rare finish. Asthma explosion forecast level Max‼︎ (Amazing... It's no wonder Dad is obsessed) It was a very delicious meal and we were all very satisfied, helping to make our family trip enjoyable. I honestly want to go again. Since our bellies are full, let's go home... Ah‼︎ I made a mistake! Let's go back to our hideout♡ Fellow asthma sufferers‼︎ Fellow diabetics‼︎ Health comes first for the family! Have a healthy summer! Zeon!

Actually, when I visited the restaurant the night before, I arrived a little after 7 pm and found it fully booked, so I gave up and went somewhere else. The next day, I couldn't help but come back to Shijo. The lunch set had only one option and cost ¥1100. The miso soup, made with a rich broth from fish bones, was delicious. The set included fresh swordfish, sea bream, and bonito sashimi, as well as fried sardines and a simmered side dish, all meticulously prepared and tasty. You can get a refill of rice. If lunch was this good, I'm looking forward to trying dinner next time I visit Kyoto.

I used the lunch menu. The sashimi was delicious, and the freshly fried tempura was crispy. Each dish is carefully prepared and very delicious, and the sashimi in the sashimi set meal was delicious. The sashimi is fresh, and I look forward to seeing what ingredients are in the miso soup each time, like a mystery pot. I would definitely like to visit again.

Visited during Christmas on a family trip. It's a creative izakaya that is unpretentious and child-friendly. Perfect for families traveling together. Despite its homely atmosphere, it also exudes an adult vibe, which is reflected in its high ranking on Tabelog. Every dish was delicious. It seemed that customers who walked in without reservations were almost unable to get a table. Highly recommended restaurant.
