There is a bakery inside Shinjuku Station, which is a chain with multiple stores in Tokyo. They are often found in department stores. I used the eat-in space this time. I bought the Viennois Cream Noir for 319 yen (tax included) and ate it in the store. It was a hard bread sandwich with white chocolate milk cream inside. It was really delicious with walnuts adding a nice texture. I also bought the T Pain Fromage Shizuku 1/2 for 540 yen (tax included) to go. It looked soft and I couldn't resist. When I ate it at home, it was also really delicious. The outside was elastic and the inside was moist and fluffy. The cheese added a great flavor. Thank you for the meal.

Located right inside the south exit ticket gate, making it convenient for transfers or meeting up. The bread at Pan・Sare is soft and chewy with a hint of saltiness that I love. When compared to Paul in Yotsuya in terms of atmosphere and facilities, it falls short due to being inside the ticket gate, so the cost performance is lower.

I purchased the "Scone Lemon" during the lemon fair. It had a soft texture that crumbled easily, with lemon peel in the dough, making it very delicious! I wish it was available year-round, not just for a limited time. Thank you for the meal.

I was looking for a light cafe for dinner before shopping, and I found a place inside the ticket gate that offered eat-in options. At first glance, it looked like a bakery, but there was an eat-in area on the left side. I ordered a drink and a sandwich, which was a baguette with thin slices of prosciutto and a small amount of vegetables. When asked if I wanted it cut in half, I agreed, and it came as shown in the picture. It may have looked small, but it was quite satisfying as it required a good amount of chewing.

I stopped by for breakfast before work. It was convenient that they were open early on a Sunday. The discount with the Lumine card was great. I tried the summer limited edition lemon-flavored waffle this time. I wanted to try more like sandwiches, but I had plans to eat a lot that day, so I refrained. The coffee was also delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The croissant sandwich café au lait here costs over 1200 yen, which seems a bit expensive. It's located in Shinjuku station where there are no competing stores, so maybe that's why it's pricey? The taste is not outstanding, and the place is noisy. It's understandable since takeout customers are always coming and going. It might be a good option for killing time while waiting for a night bus, but there's nothing particularly special that would make you choose this place over others. It wouldn't be surprising if it eventually gets replaced by a different store. It's a passive choice for spending time since there are only a few options inside this side of the ticket gate, like this place and a shumai set meal restaurant. I would rate it a 60 out of 100.

We visited for a light dinner. We ordered cheese and prosciutto sandwiches, a cafe au lait, and orange juice for two people. The sandwiches were generously drizzled with olive oil and the bread and fillings matched well, making them delicious. The cafe au lait was also served in a generous portion. It was a weekday, so there were plenty of seats available, allowing us to relax.

Located inside a train station, this shop mainly focuses on takeout with a small seating area. Originating from northern France, it has expanded to Tokyo, Kanagawa, Osaka, Hyogo, Fukuoka, and Hokkaido. The Croissant au Fromage costs 399 yen. The cheese is not overpowering and its aroma lingers. Although the flavor weakens when cooled, the balance of cheese amount and the buttery scent remains. The Pan Salé costs 367 yen. As the name suggests, it is a salted bread with a chic twist. The outer part is firm while the inside is moist with butter seeping through. The saltiness varies depending on where you bite. The Quigniam with black tea and orange costs 367 yen. Made with French butter, this pastry is surprisingly heavy with a rich texture and sweetness. The target customers are time-pressed salarymen, with convenience stores as competitors. While there are tastier options in Ginza and Yurakucho at a similar price range, this shop maintains an authentic taste that cannot be found in convenience stores. Their ability to maintain authenticity while expanding to multiple locations is impressive. However, the higher price range may feel expensive outside of urban areas. Thank you for the meal!

When you stop by Shinjuku, you must visit PAUL. The canelés here are delicious, and I always look forward to the seasonal flavors. This time, it was a matcha canelé. The texture and taste are both delicious and easy to eat with a chewy texture. Also, what surprised me this time was PAUL's salted bread. It's so fluffy, yet the perfect amount of salt brings out a lot of umami flavor. I was amazed. Once you start eating this, you can't stop. I've decided to come back for more!

Title is sloppy... I stopped by while waiting for the train on my way home from cram school. I'm not a big fan of bread so I would usually just pass by, but I was starving because I didn't have lunch, so I just wanted to eat anything. It was past 9 o'clock, so there weren't many left, but I bought a "Chocolate Beignet 345 yen" and a "Chocolate Hazelnut Muffin 507 yen". I love chocolate, so I tried them. The bread texture was soft and I liked it, but the chocolate inside was not that great. The muffin, on the other hand, was delicious! The popular items were already sold out, so I want to go again. Bon appétit!

Lunch while waiting for the train for 10 minutes. Found this eat-in place inside Shinjuku Station and decided to try it out. Looked for something quick to eat. Ordered a croissant almond, Americano coffee, and water for ¥957. Seemed like a reasonable price for the location. There were counter seats and bench seats available, so I chose a bench seat as I had luggage with me. "Would you like me to cut it in half for easier eating?" This kind of consideration was nice. The coffee was served in a fancy cup and tasted great. I was worried the croissant almond would crumble, but it held up well, probably because it was soaked in syrup. The sliced almonds were crunchy and delicious. Finished everything in 10 minutes, didn't let the train delay get me down. Off I go! Thank you for the meal.

I used JR Shinjuku Station and decided to kill time by enjoying a baguette sandwich that I like. They have an eat-in space where you can order and pay at the counter. I ordered the following items: Tuna Salad Baguette Sandwich ¥539 (excluding tax) Cafe au Lait ¥495 (excluding tax) I also couldn't resist the tempting canelé on display, so I bought some for souvenirs. Canelé ¥324 (excluding tax) Sakura Canelé (limited edition) ¥356 (excluding tax) The eat-in space had a few counter seats and about 5 two-seater table seats. There were outlets at the counter too. It was relatively quiet and clean, with attentive staff. The atmosphere was quite comfortable. The baguette sandwich was cut in half for easy eating, which was convenient. I wanted to have a milk tea, but they only served straight tea with milk on the side. So, I opted for a Cafe au Lait instead. The baguette had a nice wheat aroma and was delicious. It was not too hard or too soft, just the right texture. The tuna salad was generous and satisfying, with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The canelé for souvenirs came in a paper bag, but they didn't ask if I needed a carry bag. I found a small plastic bag to use, but it would have been nice to have a proper bag for bakery items. It was my first time trying canelé. The crispy outer layer and chewy texture inside were interesting. The outer layer reminded me of a crispy manju with a hint of sweetness and chewiness. The limited edition Sakura Canelé had a pink top to give a cherry blossom vibe, but I couldn't really detect any sakura flavor. Although a bit pricey, the baguette was delicious. I would love to try their croissants next time. Overall, it was a delightful experience.

Located near the south exit of Shinjuku Station, PAUL is a favorite French-style bakery known for its delicious pastries. They also have a branch in Ecute inside Shinagawa Station. I first discovered this place when I was obsessed with their salt bread. I recently tried their Hot Dog for 496 yen and their Pan-Sale ~Shizuku~ for 237 yen (tax included) at their eat-in space inside NEWoMan near the entrance. The Hot Dog was served warm and had a cheesy sausage filling. The sausage and cheese were both flavorful, and the bread was also very tasty. The Pan-Sale ~Shizuku~ was a soft, slightly larger salt bread that was also delicious. PAUL really knows how to make great bread. Next time, I will try their Croissant, which is another popular item at PAUL. It was all very delicious. In addition, there is currently a PAUL Bakery Festival happening at NEWoMan from March 16th to March 26th. Various bakeries are participating in the event, offering a wide selection of pastries and bread. Check it out if you're in the area!

In the morning, I started my day with a croissant at Shinjuku Station while on the move. It's the southernmost terminal of Shinjuku Station, with the bus terminal "Busta Shinjuku" above. There's a commercial facility attached called "NEWoMan," which interestingly extends inside the station gates. Inside, there's a bakery called "PAUL NEWoMan Shinjuku Store," or as I like to call it, "Paul Newman" (laughs). They have a wide selection of bread displayed in a showcase, made in the workshop at the back. While they also offer croissant sandwiches, I chose the Croissant Fromage to indulge in the taste and aroma of croissants. The cozy seating area with about 10 seats is unexpectedly comfortable, not what you would expect inside a station gate. The palm-sized croissant had melted cheese bubbling up and solidifying on the surface, creating a crunchy texture. When cut open, the croissant revealed large air pockets, evidence of the delicious butter worked into the dough. The exterior was crispy, while the interior was fluffy. The dough itself had a slight sweetness, complemented by the salty and rich flavors of the cheese. The initial crunchiness gradually melted into a smooth texture, making each bite a delightful experience. Scooping up the foam from my cafe latte and enjoying it with the croissant enhanced the bitterness and flavor, making the croissant even more delicious. I used my fingers to pick up the small, crumbly pieces of dough and savored each bite. Delicious.

Yesterday, I stopped by PAUL for lunch. It was a detour to the store in NEWoMan Ekimae. Actually, the day before yesterday, I found Galette des Rois and fèves at PAUL in Grande Duo in Tachikawa. I checked with the store, and they said they are selling them until the end of January, and they also offer cut pieces. The fève collection with four different fèves was so cute that I couldn't resist buying it. Along with the fève, I also bought a cut Galette des Rois for a taste test. One plain and one chocolate slice. The crispy pie crust had a hint of saltiness, which combined nicely with the sweetness of the filling, making it a dessert that you won't get tired of. The chocolate one was just like a regular chocolate pie. I think the plain one captures the essence of Galette des Rois better. Of course, I also got the fève. (When you buy a whole Galette des Rois, you get one random fève with it) Isn't it adorable? (From "Petit Shanghai Trip")

I used the takeout service at "PAUL NEWoMan Shinjuku Store," a bakery located on the 2nd floor of NEWoMan inside JR Shinjuku Station in late October. On this day, I purchased the "Croissant au Fromage" (324 yen) and the "Brioche Sosis" (399 yen). When I got home, I immediately enjoyed them. The "Croissant au Fromage" is a croissant topped generously with cheese. The savory aroma of the cheese is delightful. It has a nice balance of sweetness, and even the flaky bits that fall off are delicious. The "Brioche Sosis" is a French pastry with a pork sausage filling. The dough is soft and has a great texture. The crispy sausage has a juicy and delicious taste, and it pairs perfectly with the brioche dough. It was a feast. Thank you.

Although it is a travel experience of the lacking Knegonde, I often saw Paul and Le Pain Quotidien in the streets of Europe. Both provide a sense of security, making them a comforting presence when tired of challenging shopping. Paul gives a slightly more down-to-earth impression. The Tokyo Yaesu branch, with its high ceiling, was particularly charming, but unfortunately, it closed about 10 years ago. This time, I bought some souvenirs from Candid, including Salt Bread (221 yen tax included), Brioche Lemon (345 yen tax included), Apple Chausson (421 yen tax included), Canele (291 yen tax included), and unintentionally Croissant Choco (313 yen tax included). As for the pastries, the Salt Bread became delicious when slightly warmed, with a crispy and fragrant taste. The Brioche Lemon had a refreshing lemon flavor. The Apple Chausson had a unique appearance with granulated sugar on top, and the sour apple filling was surprising. The Canele, the most popular item, was indeed delicious. Lastly, the Croissant Choco, with its generous chocolate topping, had a slightly rough texture reminiscent of Hershey's. It was not delicate but had a foreign charm. Overall, the Apple Chausson and Croissant Choco seemed tailored to Japanese tastes, while the Salt Bread was a unique find. I recommend trying the Salt Bread after microwaving it for 10 seconds.

I went to PAUL in Newoman at Shinjuku Station. The long opening hours are convenient for stopping by after work as there are still items available. When I'm tired from work, I often buy something on a whim. I bought a croissant (248 yen), a chocolate croissant (313 yen), and a kiwi pie (388 yen). The croissant has a crispy and light texture, and the chocolate croissant has a generous amount of mild chocolate on top. They are easy to eat and delicious. The kiwi pie, more like a pie crust than a Danish pastry, has a moist texture, but surprisingly the crust is crispy and firm, complementing the tartness of the kiwi. Thank you for the meal.

In recent years, the level of station-side eateries has greatly improved, right? They are stylish and delicious. PAUL also has a very nice atmosphere from the outside, and a small selection of high-quality breads welcomes you. It's compact but they also offer seating, which is convenient. I love walnuts, so I bought the Pan Noa. I like to eat Pan Noa on the day I buy it without toasting it. It's still moist, so you can fully appreciate the texture of the dough. The aroma of the wheat is also great, and it was really delicious. Personally, I prefer Pan Noa with a bit more acidity.

After having breakfast at the Shumai Factory in Shinjuku Station, I bought some bread from PAUL for lunch at the office. I often visit the Kagurazaka store, but this was my first time at the NEWoMan Shinjuku store. Today, I purchased two sandwiches made with French bread that was fermented for a long time. One was "Jambon Cru" with prosciutto and tomato, and the other was "Ton" with tuna mayo and tomato. I was satisfied with the combination of bread and fillings, but whether the price of 496 yen per sandwich is cheap or expensive depends on the individual. In addition to PAUL, there are two other delicious bakeries at NEWoMan, so it's fun to rotate between them.
