On this day, I decided to visit "Yappari Steak Kokura Kita Store" in Kokura Kita-ku, Kitakyushu City.
◇ Exterior and Interior
This steakhouse is located in Kamisai-cho, Kokura Kita-ku, Kitakyushu City. It is a steak chain restaurant originating from Okinawa, which has been a topic of conversation lately. The restaurant opened in a place that used to be a soba shop. It may seem like an unusual location for locals, but it is likely a strategic move to increase cost performance. This was my first visit to Yappari Steak. The restaurant has a small interior with Okinawan folk music playing in the background and is non-smoking with ashtrays available outside.
◇ Seating
There are 10 counter seats facing each other, 6 tables for 4 people, and 1 table for 2 people.
◇ Menu Structure
They use a ticket vending machine system, which is well-organized and easy to understand. In general, there are five types of steaks available for 1,000 yen each, regardless of the grams – lean meat, ribeye, filet, cut steak, and Yappari steak. The key point here is the 1,000 yen price tag! They also offer sirloin and half-sized misuji, which are priced based on the grams. There are no complicated rice sets, and it is a self-service system where you can have unlimited refills of soup, salad, rice, and water. They provide various condiments on the table such as Italian rock salt, black pepper, soy sauce, shikuwasa ponzu, garlic soy sauce, Japanese-style sweet sauce, onion sauce, fruit sauce, chopped wasabi, grated garlic, toothpicks, and paper napkins.
I ordered the following:
- Filet Steak (1,000 yen) → For 1,000 yen, you get 100g. You can increase the grams for a higher price. Since it was my first visit, I opted for the standard 100g with curry topping.
The restaurant serves all meat rare. After serving, you can adjust it yourself on a plate made of lava stone from Mt. Fuji. The self-service lineup for the day included white and black rice, egg soup, cabbage, and macaroni salad. All of this, plus tax, for 1,000 yen. It's quite affordable!
The filet meat looked like a fist-sized chunk, visually appealing. It was rare, as shown in the pictures. The taste leaned towards the red meat flavor, and while the texture was not bad, the meat quality was average. The highlight was the variety of sauces provided on the table, allowing you to customize the taste to your liking. My favorite was the garlic soy sauce, followed by the soy sauce and chopped wasabi combination.
◆ Strong Points
You can get a satisfying meal for 1,000 yen! The concept of "additional meat" is unique!
◆ Service
Average.
◆ Summary
This was my first time at Yappari Steak, and I could see the efforts made to increase cost performance throughout the restaurant. The focus is on how to make customers full for just 1,000 yen. It's a great business model. I heard that the "Ikinari" steak chain is losing popularity, but each steakhouse offers a different experience and has its own strong points. It may depend on personal preference, but in terms of meat quality and price, I'm just happy to have steak readily available. Thank you for the meal.
