On the way back from Momotani, where I had some errands to run, I usually drive but this time I took the train, so I felt like getting something delicious to eat on the way back. I explored the Momotani shopping street, which was bustling with energy. Unfortunately, I noticed that a bookstore where I had shopped before had closed down. There were side streets with izakayas and Chinese restaurants that caught my eye, but my stomach was feeling a bit off, so I stopped by a takeout-only pork bun shop that caught my eye. Oh, they also have takeout for xiaolongbao? And they're raw? You have to steam them yourself for 8 minutes, they said. The pork buns are already steamed so you can eat them right away, they added. I wasn't sure what to do. In the end, I bought one pork bun and one pack of xiaolongbao. One warm and one cold item. They were packed separately in different bags. However, on the way back, I ended up eating out, so I saved these for the next morning. I steamed the pork bun using a microwave steamer. The buns were soft and chewy, with a filling that was like a less spicy version of the 551 brand, and the paper at the bottom (thin wood) peeled off easily due to the oil. I liked it. I feel like 551 has gotten smaller recently, and if there's a store like this in my area, I would use it often. Now, it's time to steam the xiaolongbao. I prepared by lining the steamer with cooking paper. Oh no, the skin was sticky and got stuck to my fingers... Oh no, it tore apart! I left it in the fridge overnight, maybe that was a mistake, or I should have frozen it if I was going to keep it that long. Anyway, I ruined it before steaming it myself. When I steamed it, the soup leaked out onto the sheet, and it looked terrible. The taste was good though. In the interest of the shop's reputation, I won't post a picture of the disaster. I won't give a star rating this time since it was a big failure. I want to try again. By the way, this shop has four locations in the eastern part of Osaka City. I didn't know that. Pork bun 150, Xiaolongbao 400. So cheap!
