I found a bakery on the way to the station, let's stop by! ◎Black Pepper Rusk◎Chestnut Pie I put them in a ziplock bag to prevent them from breaking and spilling, along with the air of Otaru. When I opened them at home, none of them were broken (๑⁼̴̀д⁼̴́๑)ドヤッ Black Pepper Rusk is great as a snack~ It has a hint of garlic which enhances the flavor, so crispy! Chestnut Pie has a crunchy crust, with a sponge-like filling and crushed chestnuts inside. I especially love the crispy outer layer (๑ ˃̵͈́∀˂̵͈̀ ) There were many types of bread at the hotel bakery, but I made the right choice by considering portability. Thank you for the delicious meal.

- A bakery on the first floor of the Ocent Hotel
- Facing the main street, you can see the manufacturing process through the glass
- Besides bread, they also have various baked goods
- Since my usual sablé at the nearby Mon Pierre was sold out, I decided to go in after a long time around 2 pm on a weekday
- The Berry Berry Stamp caught my eye with its pink color in spring
- It looks round and cute with scattered red accents, but it is very sweet
- However, it is incredibly delicious! The inside is surprising and interesting
- When you tear it, you can see plenty of strawberry and blueberry jam alternately appearing in the rolled dough
- I tore and ate it, but it would have been better to cut and eat it neatly! I wonder about the cross-section
- This is both visually appealing and delicious, perfect for girls and even kids would love it
- It might be good for tired women after work too, as sweet treats are great when tired
- I had it with coffee, but it might go well with tea too
- The sprouted brown rice bread was just okay, nothing special
- I would like to try the Berry Berry Stamp again
- I always wonder about their Stollen too, even when it's not Christmas time.

[Visit Date: Early November 2022] Visited around 10:30 am on a weekday, and the rating at the time of the visit was 3.42. Moved from Sapporo to Otaru. Located on the street of a shopping arcade in Otaru, on the 1st floor of "Otaru Hotel Ours". Below are the items ordered. ◇ Croissant (¥180 including tax) Sweet and crispy dough. The price is reasonable and delicious. ◇ Salmon Potato Gratin (¥280 including tax) Bought it because it's rare. A bread with smoked salmon, and the gratin is creamy and delicious. Payment was made with electronic money. The price is reasonable, and there are many types of bread, so I recommend it. Thank you for the meal.

When you leave Amatou, head to the bakery! Wow, they're almost sold out, it must be popular. I bought a galette from the few remaining items. The raisin galette... the rum raisins are moist and delicious. Haskap galette 200 yen, raisin galette 200 yen. Thank you for the meal! (^^)v

On a Sunday afternoon stroll in Otaru, I was disappointed to find a certain bakery sold out of bread. Just then, I happened to come across another bakery and decided to go in. I quickly looked around and chose a bread that I thought would go well with wine for my evening drink. I purchased the Petite Live Bread (Walnut Raisin) for 160 yen. I like walnut bread, but I'm not a big fan of raisins. However, I had a feeling that it would go well with white wine, so I decided to give it a try. The crust was fragrant and the simple dough had a light texture, with the richness of walnuts and the softness of raisins that surprisingly complemented the wine. The subtle and elegant balance reminded me of hotel-made bread.

I visited Otaru for the first time in a while in April 2022. This place is called Motomachi Street and it resembles Tanukikoji Shopping Street in Sapporo. I bought a live bread at a bakery here. It is made with homemade natural yeast. It has a crunchy texture, so it tastes very delicious when eaten with olive oil.

Authent Hotel on the 1st floor of the 2022/4 Street Shopping District in Hokkaido, offers hotel-made bread using Hokkaido wheat and homemade natural yeast. I stumbled upon this bakery called "San Toorigu" while passing by and was lured in by the enticing smell. They offer a wide variety of breads, and even have a deli inside the store where they surprisingly sell tempura bowls. I tried the "Ficelle with prosciutto and black pepper" for 180 yen, which was chewy and addictively delicious with a nice texture from the prosciutto's saltiness and black pepper. I also had the "Beef Stew" for 750 yen at the top floor restaurant "Casablanca," and it was of high quality with tender and flavorful beef. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I happened to wander into this bakery and bought some bread on a whim, but both of them were incredibly delicious, so I want to go back again. ★Honey Butter Bread I've seen butter and red bean paste sandwiched like this before, but here they use a lump of butter and honey. It was soooo delicious! I regretted not buying another one. I got hooked on it for a while and even made honey butter bread with other bread. The butter was not too thick or too thin, providing a satisfying bite without feeling guilty (laughs). The honey was also delicious, highly recommended! ★Salt Bread This salt bread was also at a very high level, with butter oozing out smoothly when you bite into it. It was delicious! I've probably bought salt bread from about 50 places, but this one is top-notch. It was a bakery that I want to visit again for their extremely delicious bread. Thank you for the meal!!

This is a bakery located in the Authent Hotel Otaru. The lineup consists of nostalgic breads that are familiar to many, but the main attraction here is the Stollen. This place is known for its Stollen among the locals, and I even saw some locals coming here specifically for it. The Stollen is delicious, with a crispy texture and not too moist. It's not chewy at all, with a crunchy surface and a crispy center. It's packed with dried fruits, giving it a great flavor and a satisfying taste. It has just the right amount of sweetness and a refined taste overall. The regular Stollen is priced at 2,480 yen per loaf, but they also offer a premium Stollen for 6,800 yen per loaf. Looking forward to hearing reviews from Stollen enthusiasts (laughs).

"Boulangerie Ondine" in Otaru, Day 2. On the first day, we only visited at night. After checking out of the hotel, we left the car in the parking lot and went for a stroll around the city. We found a bakery in the hotel and decided to stop by. The bakery had stylish bread displayed in bags, but since they weren't freshly baked, I wasn't too keen. However, in these times, it's understandable. My wife mentioned that their croissants and baguettes are famous, but unfortunately, they didn't have baguettes available. In the end, I bought a croissant made with ripe butter and some marinated herring for tonight's drinking snack. The amount of herring in the marinated dish was quite generous. I couldn't help but notice a man wearing a mask who was casually packing bread with his bare hands. I found it a bit strange. However, my wife wasn't too bothered by it. She kept saying how delicious everything was. The marinated herring had a tangy flavor, which I'm not a big fan of, but surprisingly, it didn't bother me. As for what goes well with it, beer might not be the best choice, but it's still tasty. I think it goes well with shochu mixed with hot water or definitely with sake. It's a bit on the strong side, so it would pair nicely. Overall, the marinated dish was delicious. The croissant had a subtle taste of ripe butter and was indeed tasty, but personally, I don't feel the need to go out of my way to eat croissants."

Bakery on the first floor of the Ocent Hotel. It opens at 8:30 in the morning, so local people heading to work, housewives, and others come here early. Guests staying at the hotel can buy bread here and enjoy it with coffee in the lounge (coffee is extra). It's a nice perk for hotel guests. The shokupan (Japanese white bread) seems to be popular for eating raw, with the baking time clearly marked. I bought just the ends of the raw bread. I also tried various baked sweets and anpan (sweet rolls with red bean paste), but all the bread here is reliable and you can't go wrong with any of them.

Visited Otaru City for the first time in October 2019. Explored the shopping arcade located right by Otaru Station called "Arcade". At the end of the arcade, there is a bakery inside the "Otaru Saint Hotel". Despite being inside a hotel, the bakery has an entrance facing the street, making it easily accessible. You can see the bakers working early in the morning to make bread. The "Otaru Saint Hotel" is operated by the "Shin Nihonkai Ferry" which opened in 1998. I tried the "Short Baguette" for 180 yen (tax included), but found it to be soft and fluffy inside, which wasn't my preferred texture for a baguette. I also bought the "Bread Ends" for 50 yen, which seemed to be used for making sandwiches. The portion was a bit small for the price, but I couldn't resist as I enjoy bread ends. Overall, the bread was just average. This bakery is hotel-made and was the first bakery I visited in Otaru.

We came to Otaru's Hotel Authent for lunch with our family. Since we came all the way here, we decided to buy some bread from the On-Dine shop on the first floor to take home. We bought butter rolls for breakfast and strawberry jam & butter bread for snacks. The butter rolls were consistently delicious. The strawberry jam & butter bread had a firm texture with a fluffy butter inside. The combination of jam and butter is the best, right? Thank you for the delicious meal today. We will definitely visit again!

Visited around 12 noon on a 3-day weekend. The shop is located in the Tsudori shopping street. There is a bakery called Montpellier nearby, and I mistakenly bought bread at this shop thinking it was Montpellier (laughs). It was a short stay, but during lunchtime, there were four other female customers buying bread. In addition to sweet bread, they also have sandwiches, loaf bread, baguettes, and even baked goods. They also had naan bread. Looking at the receipt, it seems like this shop is located inside the Otaru Grand Hotel. Maybe that's why the service felt a bit more polite?
- Pain au Chocolat: 180 yen
I had it in the evening on the day of purchase. The crispy texture was just right. It had a big hollow inside. The sweetness of the chocolate and the flavor of butter were well balanced.
- French Red Bean Bun: 180 yen
I warmed it up a bit on the stove as it was a bit dewy inside the plastic bag. The outside became crispy, and the inside was chewy with a red bean paste filling. The gentle sweetness and the flavor of the red bean were distinct.
- Satsuma Sweet Potato and Cranberry Levain: 320 yen
I had it the next morning. Personally, I realized that I don't really like the flavor of cranberries. They have a strong sour taste, so the sweetness of the sweet potato was needed for balance, but it wasn't very sweet. Unfortunately, the balance was off. My stove was broken that day, so I tried heating it in the microwave, and it made the chewiness of the bread more pronounced, which was good. Thank you for the meal.

On a certain holiday, I visited Otaru, where the impact of an earthquake led to a wave of cancellations from hotel guests and a decrease in tourists. Next to a shopping street in the city center, there is a bakery inside a hotel. The bakery has a space in the corner of the hotel where regular customers can also purchase the bread offered at the hotel. Although the shop is not very spacious, there was a decent variety of bread available, but by the time I arrived in the afternoon, most of the items were sold out. From the menu, I chose a few items that caught my eye. The "Apple Danish (240 yen)" had a generous amount of apple slices on top of a flaky Danish pastry, offering a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. The "Casablanca Croissant (80 yen)" was a small but well-made croissant with a crispy texture and a surprisingly strong nutty flavor without an overwhelming buttery taste. The "Honey Sandwich (180 yen)" had a soft and fluffy dough with a delightful balance of buttery saltiness and rich honey flavor. Lastly, the "Petit Rye (Walnut & Raisin) (160 yen)" was a hard bread with a fragrant aroma, abundant walnuts, and scattered raisins throughout. Although I usually don't choose hard bread due to its firm texture and higher price, I enjoyed the unique flavors of this bread. Overall, I felt that Otaru may not have many authentic bakeries, so there is likely a high demand for well-established bakeries like this one. Keep up the good work! Thank you for the delicious pastries.

Since this is a hotel bread shop, they don't have the trendy super sweet chocolate-filled or greasy cooking breads that are popular with students. Those kinds of breads can be found at popular bakeries. Instead, they offer elegant and well-balanced breads with delicious flavors and carefully selected ingredients. Whenever I visit Otaru, I always make sure to stop by this place on my way back. :)
