There is a new coffee shop in Hōfu that specializes in freshly roasted coffee. It is located on a corner with a great view, although parking availability is uncertain, there is a bicycle parking area. The shop chose this location because when roasting coffee, a lot of smoke is produced, and being next to a driving school parking lot allows for good ventilation. I tried their Single Origin coffee for 450 yen, where you can choose from 7 different types of beans and select either hot or iced coffee for the same price. I chose the Ethiopian Mocha bean, which had a sweet taste. I also bought some Indonesian Mandheling beans to take home and made a delicious café au lait with them. Coffee is a complex world, and I look forward to exploring more at this shop. Cheers to all coffee lovers!

I had been keeping an eye on a new store along a well-traveled road, preparing for its opening. I was curious about what kind of store it would be, and it turned out to be a coffee specialty shop, which is rare in this area. The shop, called "4Trees," offers both dine-in and take-out options, as well as sells coffee beans and other coffee-related products. While there is no parking lot, there is a coin parking nearby, and bicycles can be parked in the space next to the building. The shop is run by a friendly couple, and the name "4Trees" symbolizes their wish for their family of four to grow like four trees. The shop interior features a lot of wood, in line with this concept. They have an Osaka-made roasting machine in the store and serve high-quality coffee that they carefully drip. It may take some time during busy hours, but you can enjoy the pleasant aroma of coffee in the store while waiting. On my first visit, I tried the Tanzania coffee, which had a mild acidity and rich flavor, and it was just my type. I might stop by for a coffee break after work from now on. Hirao-cho has a coffee roastery opened recently. As someone who has been getting more into coffee lately, I am very happy to have such a shop nearby. The shop is run by a husband and wife, with the owner being so passionate about coffee that he quit his job to open the shop. The wife seems to support him in this endeavor, and their dynamic is so lovely that it makes me happy just being there. You can buy coffee beans at the shop, or you can enjoy a cup in the store. You can choose from hot, iced, or latte, and select from 7 types of beans. I chose the Denkaramu from Ethiopia, which has a fruity acidity but a very clean finish. The beans seem to be sourced from Galten Coffee in Hiji-so. The story behind these beans is quite impressive. My companion chose the Honduras from Quelbisicleta Farm, which has a mango-like fruity flavor but with a deep roast that brings out the coffee's richness in the aftertaste. Each coffee comes with its own unique description card, which adds to the quality of the experience. The cookies that came with the coffee were also delicious. Although the seating is limited, we were lucky to have the place to ourselves during our visit, allowing us to hear many interesting coffee stories from the owner. The coffee brewed in the shop is delicious, but the effort put into ensuring customers can replicate the same taste at home is truly admirable.
