This is a famous okonomiyaki restaurant in the area. It used to have eat-in options, but now it's a takeout-only shop. The taste is still great and very delicious! When I visited after about 15 years, it had changed to a takeout specialty shop since 2018. I ordered the Okonomiyaki Mix for 900 yen plus 50 yen for the container fee, and it was still amazing with a huge portion, soft batter, and plenty of pork and squid. This must be very appreciated by the local university students. I hope this kind of great restaurant will continue without changing forever.

On May 15, 2022 (Sunday) at lunchtime, at "Jumbo" Okonomiyaki and Yakisoba in Kitaku, Kyoto City, the waiting time is long and the taste is average. The Jumbo Okonomiyaki Mix costs ¥950. Dining in the restaurant has not been available for about 4 years, only takeout. When ordering after 11 a.m., they asked, "Do you want it raw or cooked? If cooked, it will be ready around 12 p.m., is that okay?" The service was decent. Ate in the parking lot of the nearby apartment complex after taking photos. The portion was good, but the sauce was only on the surface, so I added plenty of mayo, takoyaki sauce, powdered cheese, and perilla oil, which made it delicious. However, I later realized there was too little seaweed and bonito flakes. Overall, it was an average restaurant with good portion sizes. It's a place to eat, but in the current season (mid-May), it was fine due to the overcast sky. However, in summer or winter, with heat or cold and bugs coming around, it wouldn't be a good place to eat. Since today was a Sunday and not crowded, it was okay, but on weekdays, it would be busy, and you would have to eat while being exposed to many people's eyes. Whew, that was close.

I first visited this place when I was 20 years old, so it's been over 30 years now. The last time I visited was over a decade ago, when you could still dine in, but now they only offer takeout. I came to Kyoto for the autumn leaves sightseeing, and feeling nostalgic, I got takeout and enjoyed it at the hotel. I bought the Jumbo Okonomiyaki and Jumbo Yakisoba! As always, the portions are huge but incredibly delicious. It was too much for two people, so we had the leftovers the next day. The seasoning is gentle, and the Okonomiyaki is cooked lightly and tastes exquisite. I hope I can enjoy it again next year!

Located a 5-7 minute walk from Tojiin Ritsumeikan University Imadegawa Campus Station, is the okonomiyaki restaurant Jumbo. This take-out only shop offers generous portions of okonomiyaki and yakisoba. It has been selected as one of the top 100 okonomiyaki restaurants in both 2018 and 2019. You can also purchase the ingredients raw to cook at home. I ordered the popular menu item, the Okonomiyaki Mix. As the name suggests, they offer a jumbo size, but even the regular size is as big as okonomiyaki from other restaurants, and the jumbo size seems to be about twice as large! The okonomiyaki has a fluffy Osaka-style finish, making it enjoyable even for those who are not fans of Kyoto-style okonomiyaki. Be sure to visit and try it out. Thank you for the meal!

Located a 3-minute walk from Eizan Electric Railway Kitano Line Ryoanji Station and a 20-minute walk from JR Sanin Main Line Marutamachi Station is "Jumbo." Heading north on Nishioji Street, then west on Ichijo Street just before Kitano Hakubaicho Station, you'll find it in front of Hanazono Park. It's near Ritsumeikan University, offering a nostalgic taste that alumni must have tried at least once. As the name suggests, "Jumbo" serves okonomiyaki that can fill up students' stomachs. Founded around 1980 by the first female owner, Natsuko Ejima, the current second-generation son has taken over the business. Due to labor shortages, since July 2018, it has become a "takeout-only shop" for either "pre-cooked by staff" or "raw okonomiyaki ingredients." Locals can buy ingredients and cook at home! I opted for the "Okonomiyaki Mix" (tax included 600 yen) cooked in the shop (additional cooking fee +50 yen), totaling 650 yen. I didn't have the courage to try the "Jumbo Okonomiyaki" (tax included 800 yen). Unfortunately, I couldn't see the cooking process, so I can't verify the cooking method or time (15 minutes). No dining in the store, so I enjoyed it in front of Hanazono Park. The staff referred to it as "small size," but it's slightly larger than a regular okonomiyaki shop's normal size. It has a solid weight to it. The okonomiyaki has a dashi and yamaimo batter with cabbage, tenkasu, pickled ginger, pork belly, seasoned minced beef, and squid, generously topped with eggs! It's cut into four pieces. It's sprinkled with katsuobushi and nori on top. It feels fluffy but not gooey. The standout feature is the large squid, much bigger than what you'd expect in an okonomiyaki. However, when packed in the takeout container, the steam gets trapped, making it soggy. No matter how well it's cooked, eating it just a minute later results in a different taste from freshly cooked. Personally, I prefer eating okonomiyaki directly from the hot plate, so I was a bit disappointed. Each has its own business style, I thought as I enjoyed it. Thank you for the meal.

It's been 11 years since my last visit, but dining in the restaurant is no longer available, only takeout was possible. It's a shame, but given the current situation, it can't be helped. I ordered the mixed okonomiyaki. I didn't have the courage to order the jumbo size like I used to. The squid was quite large and prominent. There was also quite a bit of pork in it. It didn't feel as heavy with flour as it did before, but you can still feel some weight in the batter, which is tasty thanks to the dashi broth. Bonito flakes and seaweed were generously sprinkled on top, enhancing the umami flavor. I really wish I could have eaten it at the restaurant. Additionally, they were selling okonomiyaki batter (essentially the flour and ingredients before cooking), and it seemed to be selling quite well, probably because they are located nearby.

It had been a while since my last visit. It was my first time ordering takeout from here since they switched to being takeout-only. Seems like the right choice for this time. They offer sashimi for takeout, but I'm not confident in cooking it myself, so I ordered one okonomiyaki and one yakisoba jumbo. I thought it might be pricey at 1700 yen, but it was actually 800 yen each, plus 50 yen for each container. Still, it left an impression of being quite cheap. Although it was for two packs, the weight was intense, probably around 1 kilogram. (Measured at home, okonomiyaki was 900g, and yakisoba was 1200g) My family of five couldn't finish it in one go, so we had some the next day as well. The okonomiyaki had a fluffy texture, maybe because it had four eggs in it. The yakisoba had thick noodles that were well coated in sauce, making it easy to slurp up. The seasoning was spot on. It tasted just like it did in the past. I'll definitely be getting takeout from here again.

Located along Ichijo Street, about 800 meters west of Kitano Hakubaicho Station on the Keifuku Electric Railroad, is a teppanyaki restaurant called "Kitsuji to Umashiro." Since July 2018, it has transformed into a takeout-only shop, which gives a slightly lonely impression compared to its previous lively atmosphere. They offer two options: "raw" or "cooked." I went with a friend and ordered the "cooked" jumbo-sized yakisoba and okonomiyaki. The portions were still generous, and the yakisoba had a satisfying kick of ginger, making it quite enjoyable.

I use it regularly. It's a shame that it's only for takeout now, but the quantity and taste remain the same and are very delicious. For those visiting the Kinkaku-ji and Ryoan-ji temples in Kyoto, I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant. I will continue to be a customer in the future.

The taste that never gets old no matter how many times you eat it!! As expected, the jumbo size is always delicious, and the cost performance is excellent!! Even when taking home two large okonomiyakis, it only costs 1700 yen!! The same goes for changing one into yakisoba!! I usually eat it alone, but it feels just right for three people!! This time, I tried the minced meat, and it was truly meaty!! Eating the meat okonomiyaki gives a satisfying feeling!! Whether it's the mix or different from others, the meat is evenly distributed everywhere, so there's no disappointment no matter where you eat!! I will definitely order it again next time!! It was delicious this time too!! Thank you very much. And, it was a feast!!!

(From a blog post) Today, I went to a popular okonomiyaki restaurant near Tojiin in Kita Ward. Okonomiyaki Jumbo, as the name suggests, seems to be popular for its jumbo-sized okonomiyaki. When I entered the restaurant, I was a bit confused as the setup was different. Luggage was placed on the teppan grill, and lots of cabbage was lined up. It seems like they used to serve okonomiyaki inside the restaurant, but now they only do takeout. So, I ordered takeout. It was packed in a square tray for me to take home. I was worried it might get cold on the way back since it was quite far from my house, but it was still warm when I got home. The Jumbo Okonomiyaki (mix) that was originally round was cut and packed in the tray. It was probably a volume for about two people!! Each piece was large. The "mix" okonomiyaki had squid, pork, beef, and other ingredients, all in big sizes. Also, it's nice that there's plenty of cabbage!! The batter was soft, and I could enjoy one bite after another. I was able to enjoy plenty of okonomiyaki. It's great value for money to be able to eat this much for 850 yen!! The cost performance is excellent!!

It was my first visit. This is an okonomiyaki restaurant in Eikoin, Kyoto. Currently, they seem to specialize in takeout, so I placed my order at the restaurant, passed the time nearby, and picked it up. I ordered the "Mix Okonomiyaki" and "Yakisoba," and when I received them, they felt quite heavy. When I opened the okonomiyaki pack, it was incredibly voluminous. When I tried it, it was thick and had a soft, cushiony texture. The sauce was generously applied and delicious. I opened the yakisoba next. It also looked very appetizing with a substantial volume. And when I tasted it, it was incredibly delicious. The medium-thick noodles were chewy, and the sauce was irresistible. I was so satisfied that I couldn't believe these were takeout dishes. When I can eat at the restaurant again, I definitely want to try them on the hotplate. Thank you very much.

On this day, we visited "Jumbo" in Tojiin♪ Located 3 minutes from Tojiin Station☆ Jumbo is famous for its big-sized okonomiyaki. Currently, they specialize in take-out for both raw and cooked versions~ ( 〃▽〃) We visited by informing them of our take-out time over the phone☆ We ordered the "Jumbo Okonomiyaki Mix (@850)" and had it cooked ヽ(*^ω^*)ノ------------------------------------------------------------------------------We arrived at the designated time☆ Received the okonomiyaki♪ It felt heavy as if it was huge (゜▽゜)! The box was about 25×20 in size? Roughly the size of an A4 paper (ㆀ˘・з・˘) I couldn't wait to eat, so I opened it in a nearby park! Wow~ as always, it was a tremendous volume! Just a little bit... Right where the squid was, I felt an indescribable happiness (*ฅ́˘ฅ̀*) Not overwhelmingly flavorful, but delicious in a solid way, truly a Jumbo quality! Took a bite and saved the rest for take-out♡ One serving is enough for a family of 3-4 people♬ (((o(*゜▽゜*)o)))

No matter when you eat it, the fluffy okonomiyaki never disappoints!! And despite the huge portion, the price is so reasonable. I could easily finish two pieces in no time!! The yakisoba is also incredibly delicious!! I definitely want to have this set again next time. Being able to make a reservation in advance is really helpful. I look forward to eating here again in the future!!! Thank you for the meal.

On Sunday at 11:55, I went to Okonomiyaki Jumbo. Eating inside the restaurant was not allowed, but take-out for raw or cooked okonomiyaki was possible. Most customers were taking raw ones home, but I asked for a cooked one. They said it would take some time, around 10 minutes, so I decided to wait. I ordered two Jumbo Butatama for 1,700 yen each (including the box). The chef brought the okonomiyaki in a box from the back. It was big enough to fit in a motorcycle's storage box. I took a detour on my way home, and to my surprise, it was still warm when I got back. When I opened the plastic box, I was amazed at how big the okonomiyaki was. We had it for dinner that day, and even with four people, there was still some left. Everyone in my family loves okonomiyaki, so we all enjoyed the Jumbo-sized one. Although it would have been more fun to eat it together in the restaurant, we were happy to savor Jumbo-san's okonomiyaki at home. Thank you for the meal.

I have been a regular at Jumbo for a long time. It's a tradition to line up, but I remember giving up halfway and going to the nearby Tonhachi instead. When I went back after a long time, I was surprised to find that it had become a takeout-only shop. They offered yakisoba and okonomiyaki. The familiar packs contained a large amount of okonomiyaki and yakisoba. Personally, this is what I consider okonomiyaki and this is yakisoba. The portions were incredibly generous, making it a place I would be happy to have in the neighborhood. I would definitely want to go back again when I return.
