On the way back from work, I visited Toriki! This place is located about 500m away from Shin-Osaka Station, along a quiet street with few people passing by. There are two Toriki branches near my workplace, and another one in front of Higami Station, but they are always crowded due to their prime locations. I decided to check out this one and found it surprisingly empty on a weekend. I was seated at a table for two without waiting, and I noticed they also have touch panel ordering system here! I ordered my first drink and the quick menu items, cabbage and seasoned egg, from a young male staff member. Then, I used the touch panel to order at my own pace, which was convenient. I didn't have to call out loudly for service, which was nice! The items I ordered were: Mega Highball (Jim Beam) x3, medium cabbage, seasoned egg, grilled chicken breast (salt), chicken cartilage, and chicken knee cartilage karaage. I chose the menu items based on their calorie content, as I learned that fried foods have zero calories according to my theory. Also, calories are sensitive to heat above 110°C and can evaporate with the stimulation of sansho pepper, so I sprinkled a lot of sansho pepper on my food! This time, with 3 Mega Highballs and 5 dishes, I was quite full. Considering that, the Toriki dinner party (all-you-can-eat and drink) for 2980 yen (excluding tax) seems a bit questionable. It becomes cost-effective if you order 11 items or more, but with female companions, it might be hard to make it worth it... These 8 items alone were about 1000kcal, so even for someone like me who is on a diet, 11 items seems impossible. But this Toriki in a hidden spot! If you happen to be turned away from the Toriki branches in Esaka or Higami, definitely give this one in Shin-Osaka a try! Thank you very much!
