I tried a restaurant that originated in Aichi and fell in love with it when I visited Nagoya, so I went to try it in Tokyo as well! The inside of the restaurant had a lively izakaya atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and provided excellent service. I ordered the set course with the famous Akakara hot pot, which was available for ordering on the day. The set was full of volume with vegetables, grilled chicken tails, and hot pot, and I was very satisfied with the contents. The Akakara hot pot allows you to choose the level of spiciness, so it's fun to challenge yourself with different levels. However, I recommend starting with a lower level as it can get quite spicy quickly. Overall, the cost performance and service were excellent, making it my favorite restaurant. The only downside was that there were too many noisy group customers, which made it a bit loud.

When it comes to Akakara, hot pot is a must-have, but the other side dishes were also delicious. The staff would come to take off the lid of the hot pot at the right timing, so we didn't have to worry and could just wait. I was happy to see a card like the one in the photo placed at our table when we made a reservation.

I occasionally go to Akakara! Even though everyone around me was struggling with the spiciness, I wanted to challenge myself with level 7 spiciness. However, it was a bit too spicy for me, so I gave up early. Instead, I filled my stomach with three types of meat dishes, not in a hot pot, and finished with cheese to make it milder. For those who love spicy food, you can still make it spicier, which is great! Despite being spicy, the hot pot was delicious! Thank you for the meal.

I visited this restaurant because there are three branches in Shibuya. The cucumber with spicy miso, grilled chicken tail, and red spicy hot pot were all at a mediocre level for an izakaya. There wasn't much creativity or anything particularly delicious that stood out. It would have been nice if there was something unique. The staff were all working hard and their sincerity was apparent. The seats were cramped and the crowded feeling made it uncomfortable. I don't think I will visit again.

It was hot outside but I was craving for some spicy hot pot, so I thought about trying Akakara Nabe. I went to the restaurant without a reservation. I found out that there are 3 Akakara Nabe locations in Shibuya. The restaurant I visited was on the 3rd floor of a mixed-use building. When I arrived, there was one group ahead of me waiting. They told me it would be about a 10-minute wait, but I ended up waiting for about 15 minutes before being seated. The clientele at the restaurant was quite young, mostly teenagers and people in their early twenties. The atmosphere was a bit noisy. The staff explained the menu to me. They were offering a summer limited-time all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink deal for 3000 yen, but there was a 250 yen cover charge. Tax was not included. The all-you-can-eat menu was limited, and the ingredients for the hot pot were pre-determined. Since I don't eat much but I drink, I opted for the all-you-can-drink option for 1500 yen. The draft beer was slightly warm. For the food, I had: - Spicy potato salad as an appetizer, which was average. - Akakara Nabe for 2 people. I chose the recommended spice level of 3, but I went for level 4. It had beef hormone, pork, garlic chives, bean sprouts, Nagoya Cochin chicken meatballs, fried tofu, leeks, and Chinese cabbage. It was cooked on a tabletop stove for about 10 minutes. The Akakara Nabe was delicious, with a sweet and spicy miso flavor. The fried tofu, pork, garlic chives, and bean sprouts were particularly good. They also provided extra spicy miso on the side, which was a nice touch. - I added on some Tteokbokki, chicken tenderloin, sliced potatoes, and a Taiwan hot pot set. The sliced potatoes were delicious. - I also ordered a Cheese Risotto, which was made on the spot by the staff. It was very tasty and I would definitely order it again next time. - Lastly, I had a Parmigiano Pasta, which was also delicious. It had 3 types of cheese, bacon, and thick flat noodles. It was a satisfying end to the meal. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Akakara Nabe and would definitely go back.

It's been about 10 years since I last had Akakara. It's located in a mixed-use building near Udagawa Police Box. I used to come here a lot in my early 20s, so it's been a really long time since my last visit. As always, there are a lot of female customers here. The Akakara hot pot that I had after so long was still delicious. Even the cheese risotto for the finish was tasty. This kind of flavor is really addictive. I can see why Moko Tanmen became popular. The grilled chicken neck and rolled omelette were a bit overcooked, but I was so satisfied that it didn't matter. The main highlight is still the hot pot. Thank you for the meal.

Started from scratch! Visited on August 8th. Although summer is hot, my friend insisted on eating hot pot to boost stamina! We couldn't stop him, so we ended up at Akakara. Despite the heat, we ordered a spicy hot pot. The interior is retro with a corner selling snacks and a kids' space in the spacious store. We chose the level 4 spiciness for the hot pot and a little bit of barbecue. The staff kindly explained about the spiciness levels. When we tried the food, it was quite spicy! It was surprisingly delicious. I would like to come back in winter.

It was a cold day, so I felt like having hot pot and went with a friend without making a reservation. It was almost full even though it was before 6 pm, so we sat at the counter. We ordered the famous red spicy hot pot, chicken neck, white devil cold tofu, and hormone vegetable stir-fry. The cold tofu was light with a refreshing salt sauce, while the chicken neck and hormone were great appetizers. You can choose the spiciness level for the hot pot, and since it was my first time, I chose level 3 which was just right and easy to eat. The hot pot is only 990 yen per serving, which is very cheap, but the portion may be a bit small, so young people might need to order rice or noodles as well. What was strange was that there was a group of high school students eating in their school uniforms. It felt odd to see underage kids in school uniforms at a place serving alcohol. Maybe because the prices are low, they feel comfortable coming here, but considering it's in Shibuya with a young and lively crowd, and the small tables, it's not a place for lingering. The older folks quickly moved on to a second bar after enjoying the food, so it was tasty but maybe not quite an adult-oriented establishment.

[Taste] Average. Nothing particularly bad or good, just an average taste. Ordered hot pot and Caesar salad. [Service] The staff are young but always have a smiling face, which gives a good impression. Especially the male staff, who may look tough with a "Shibuya" vibe, but their polite service creates a positive impression. [Atmosphere] Gives off a vibe of a typical casual izakaya in Shibuya. Since there are no private booths, it may not be ideal for a date. [Value for Money] The price of the hot pot is less than 1,000 yen per person, making it reasonable. Compared to other Tokyo restaurants where you pay a lot for average food, this place is much better. The Caesar salad is also quite filling. You can have a meal for just over 1,000 yen per person if you don't drink alcohol. [Drinks] Average. There's nothing to expect, but they also don't disappoint.

I visited Akakara for the first time after hearing about its delicious food for a long time. I went with two friends and the place was almost full on the weekend. We sat at a table for two even though there were three of us, but it didn't feel cramped. Then we ordered the signature Akakara hot pot with a medium level of spiciness, as suggested by the staff. The hot pot was served quickly and included bean sprouts, leeks, cabbage, pork belly, hormone, and tsukune. There are many additional toppings available, so I plan to try more next time. We finished with cheese risotto using the remaining soup, which was tasty. Personally, I would add garlic to it. The spiciness level 3 was just right for me, although I was the only one sweating a lot. The spiciness didn't overpower the umami flavor. I want to try level 4 next time. We had beer and highball for drinks, which were typical for an izakaya. The delicious hot pot ensures I will be back again!

We entered the restaurant around 9 PM on a regular day with a group of eight people. Luckily, there was a table available for us even though the place was packed. There were mostly female customers and very few male customers. We started with some beer and ordered dishes like cherry blossom yukhoe for appetizers. Since we were a large group, we divided the hot pot into two with different levels of spiciness. We added extra toppings during the meal and ended with cheese risotto for the spicier pot and porridge for the milder pot. The cheese risotto was definitely the best choice!

I visited the secret opening day of Akakara Nabe and Seseri Yaki at the Shibuya Udagawa-cho location. For the first two days, all items are half price, which is fantastic. I tried the Yukke, which is like the seasoned Yukke you get at a yakiniku restaurant. I also had the Nagoya Cochin Tataki with ponzu sauce, and the Miso Kushi Katsu which was sweet and delicious. The Yakiniku platter included three types of grilled meats - chicken seseri, chicken skin, and Akakara tsukune, all of which were tasty. The recommended dish is the seseri yaki. The famous Akakara Nabe was flavorful with a perfect balance of miso and chili pepper spiciness. You can choose the level of spiciness from 1 to 10, and I went with level 4 which was quite spicy. The meal ended with a choice of kishimen, ramen, zosui, or risotto, and I chose the kishimen which paired well with the soup. The service was good, with two sets of hot towels provided and amenities in the women's restroom. They also sell Akakara soup for takeout. The drink selection is extensive, with a variety of options including beer, shochu, sours, plum wine, fruit wine, and makgeolli. Overall, I rated it 3.5 due to the half-price promotion.
