I visited around 7:00 pm on September 16th, 2023 (Saturday)! There were several types of beer, and I mainly drank beer, but the local beer was easy to drink! Even those who can't drink beer were able to have a little! I like the atmosphere!

Just by walking a little in Shibuya, I sweat profusely. I need to replenish my fluids as soon as possible, or else I might collapse from heatstroke. This place in Shibuya is popular among young people, with very few bars that older folks casually enter. Especially during weekend afternoons, there are none to be found. This chain store in Shibuya is a first for me. I ordered a beer and a highball at the table. The rest of the menu is accessible via QR code, a common style in Shibuya. Personally, I find it bland and not to my liking. The menu on the table, viewed on a smartphone. Almost 3/4 of the drinks are sour-based, catering to the younger crowd. The dishes also seem geared towards the younger crowd, with little to offer for seasoned drinkers. But overall, it's cheap so it's forgivable. When it came time to pay, my companion was indignant that they charged a table fee but didn't provide any complimentary appetizers!

There were three light drinkers and one drunk person with me. Since I am a light drinker, I had a luxurious dish of rice topped with eggs. However, it's not good because as you can see in the picture, there are five egg yolks in it. It's probably a size S or SS, but the cholesterol content must be really high. The balance is off. I think the ideal would be 2 egg yolks + 1 whole egg. I would give it a recommendation score of 60 points.

Tengu Sakaba is a popular izakaya operated by Tenguraido Co., Ltd., located in Shibuya Center Gai, just a few minutes from Shibuya Station. They offer a "senbero set" for 1,100 yen, which includes drinks like oolong highball and punch lemon sour, along with dishes like potato salad, grilled chicken cartilage, and their famous tower of grilled pork belly. Customers can choose from a variety of dishes priced between 100 and 300 yen to create a set of up to 10 items. The recommended dishes are the tower of grilled pork belly and the fried chicken, both of which are generously portioned. The fried chicken has a crispy texture with a hint of ginger, while the oolong highball is surprisingly strong and the punch lemon sour is very sour. Overall, Tengu Sakaba is a casual and affordable place to enjoy senbero (cheap drinking and eating) in Shibuya.

Shibuya Station Hachiko Exit, just a few minutes walk into Center Street, you will find "Taishu Stand Kandaya Shibuya Center Store". This is a popular neo-popular izakaya that is expanding in various locations in Tokyo. First, the exterior. It has a modern neon look. The interior is spacious with only table seats, but there is a standing space next to the cash register, making it suitable for both large groups and solo diners. I visited around 9 pm and the place was full, but luckily someone was leaving so I was able to get a seat. I ordered a draft beer and looked at the menu. The menu offers a wide range of dishes from trendy items to traditional izakaya dishes, as well as a variety of drinks for both young and older customers. Without prior research, we each ordered dishes that caught our eye. We started with "Chicken Liver Sashimi" and "Toro Taku Tower". The chicken liver sashimi had a crunchy texture, while the Toro Taku Tower was delicious. We ordered more beer and then received "Thick Cut Ham Cutlet", "Egg Stir-Fry with Green Chili", and "Roasted Ginkgo Nuts". The ham cutlet was thick and crispy, the egg stir-fry was creamy, and the roasted ginkgo nuts were a nice palate cleanser. We then ordered "Chicken Gizzard Sashimi", "Chashu Egg", "Salted Fried Young Corn", and "Mini Salmon, Green Onion, and Tuna Bowl". The chicken gizzard sashimi had a good texture, the chashu egg had a delicious flavor, the salted fried young corn was as expected, and the mini salmon bowl was simply delicious. Considering the price and quality, it seemed reasonable, and the usability was good, making it a great choice for a second or third stop. [Menu] - Toro Taku Tower: 350 yen - Chicken Liver Sashimi: 290 yen - Chicken Gizzard Sashimi: 290 yen - Thick Cut Ham Cutlet: 350 yen - Chashu Egg: 390 yen - Egg Stir-Fry with Green Chili: 290 yen - Salted Fried Young Corn: 190 yen - Roasted Ginkgo Nuts: 190 yen - Mini Salmon, Green Onion, and Tuna Bowl: 500 yen ************************ - Kandaya Tower Lemon Sour: 390 yen - Kandaya Tower Lemon Melon Soda Sour: 390 yen

As soon as you enter Center-gai, there is a Kandaya located down the stairs. It seems like you can also drink during the day, which is very convenient! The interior has standing counters and table seats. The standing counters offer early evening sets at a great cost, making it a solo-friendly spot for drinking and eating. It might be a good place for a pre-drink gathering! The drinks may be a bit light, but they will definitely get you buzzed. The yam yakisoba in the photo was delicious, so I highly recommend it. It could be a good spot for a casual drink!

I went on a Friday in the 7 o'clock hour. It was a standing bar, but they provided chairs for us. The standing area was slightly separated from the floor, so we could drink quietly, which was nice. I ordered a Shari-ice highball and an oolong highball. The Shari-ice was delicious, but it melts quickly, so it might not be suitable for those who want to drink slowly. For food, I ordered the Iburi gakko potato salad and the monja-style grilled nagaimo, both of which were delicious. The service was neither particularly good nor bad. The speed of service was average, but if it's not too busy, they are relatively quick.

I left Shibuya Station and entered Center Gai. It's a street I used to visit almost every day when I was young, but it's been a while since I've been here. I decided to have a light lunch drink, so I entered this restaurant located in a side street off Center Gai. It's lunchtime, so there are many office workers having their meals, but there are also plenty of people already enjoying their lunch drinks. I sat at a table and ordered a draft beer. The draft beer cost 319 yen. I drank the cold beer while looking for some snacks. I wasn't very hungry, so I decided to choose two reasonably priced dishes. One was my usual choice, bean sprout namul. The other dish was a bit of a dilemma, but I ended up selecting grilled chicken thighs. The bean sprout namul arrived quickly. There was quite a lot, and I could probably just eat this alone. And it only cost 189 yen, what a bargain! Next, the grilled chicken thighs arrived. The thighs were placed on a hot plate, topped with chopped green onions. This dish cost 209 yen, also very affordable! I enjoyed the namul and chicken thighs with three draft beers. All of this for less than 2000 yen is a lunch drink lover's dream come true.

I went to Shibuya to pick up a small antique clock that I received from my grandfather, which has been repaired. My stomach clock was also ringing, so I decided to relax with a senbero set. I'm not a fan of underground shops, but I quickly entered one. I ordered a senbero set (1100 yen) with 10 points to spend. It was around lunchtime, so there were people having lunch and groups of two women drinking next to me in the non-smoking area. I started drinking while standing. I ordered a shochu highball (1 point), grilled gizzard (2 points), and green pepper omelette (2 points) as my snacks. It's full-on drinking mode with these appetizers. I still have 5 points left, so I can have 5 more shochu highballs. This place is truly a senbero-friendly spot with no lies. I think it's a guaranteed hit. Thank you for the meal.

Kanda-ya @ Shibuya Center Street Store After leaving "Futoku," I returned to Shibuya by metro. I headed to the first bar of the day for some drinking. I found the bar quickly. It was already 12:30 in the afternoon, but this bar seemed to be open for lunchtime drinking as well. I went down the stairs and entered the bar. The place was quite spacious. I sanitized my hands at the entrance and was guided to my table by the staff. As a solo customer, I was seated at a long counter-like table, but we were seated at a regular table. Two glasses of chilled water were served first, even though it wasn't necessary for drinking. It seemed to be a standard practice to serve this first. For my first drink of the day, I chose Hoppy. This bar didn't serve any appetizers, which was reassuring. So, cheers with my Hoppy (429 yen). Some snacks were served immediately. It was the "signature" Salted Tsukune (1 piece for 220 yen). It was served on skewers, but it was quite tough to remove. However, the taste was excellent. The chicken tsukune was quite firm and had a satisfying texture. It was definitely a great choice. Despite being underground, this bar was quite spacious. They also had a lunch menu, attracting many customers for lunch. There was a special offer for Karaage, where you could have up to 20 pieces for a fixed price. However, that didn't concern us. At the moment, there were only two other customers besides us. I ordered a refill of my drink. The staff brought it in a glass and poured it into my glass jug. The young female staff member was very efficient in her movements. All the customers having meals were solo male diners. I also ordered Gyoza as another snack. Six pieces for 220 yen. They were small but had a crispy skin and were delicious. However, one thing I noticed later during payment was that there was a seating charge of 110 yen per person. Maybe it was written in the menu, but I had missed it. If they didn't serve appetizers, they could have at least provided paper towels. The bar seemed to be quite popular, as more customers started coming in. A couple and a group of five also entered. We relaxed for about 40 minutes and then settled the bill. The atmosphere was quiet, so it was more relaxing than the lunchtime rush. This is a bar in Shibuya that you might want to remember for daytime drinking. Well, that's it. Thank you for the meal.

A popular izakaya in Shibuya where you can also drink during the day. I visited this day using the Zero app. Going down the stairs, the space was quite spacious. Started with a tower lemon sour from Kanda-ya. It's the kind you often see in places like Yokohama, but it's a bit hard to drink. I decided to fold the lemon and drink it. After finishing it quickly, I ordered another one. The staff came to pour the drink for us. We ordered Kanda-ya's famous salt tsukune, domestic beef tataki with garlic, and salt-fried young corn. Personally, I think the salt-fried young corn was my favorite. We had a good time drinking and eating, so we headed to the main restaurant.

On this day, I was in the mood for some seriously good fried chicken! I heard that there was an incredible fried chicken set meal at a popular izakaya in Shibuya, so I decided to visit. The place is called Daisu Stand Kandaya, a reasonably priced izakaya where you can also order by the plate. I have used their Nakano and Kanda Honten branches for my sake training. When I entered the underground restaurant, I found it quite spacious, and despite the name "stand," there were plenty of seats available. I quickly ordered their lunch menu, the "Tori Karaage Teishoku LIMITED" (790 yen including tax). This limited set meal comes with 10 pieces of karaage for 690 yen including tax, and you can upgrade to 21-30 pieces for 790 yen including tax. I had heard that each piece was on the smaller side, so I thought it would be okay and ordered the maximum of 30 pieces. When the waitress heard my order, she paused for a moment and then asked if she should bring them all at once. I said yes, despite the warning that there would be an additional charge if I left any leftovers. The karaage arrived in about 5 minutes, and they were smaller than I had expected, with a rugged appearance. The freshly fried karaage was delicious, with a strong garlic flavor! In addition to the sauce, there were condiments, and I managed to eat up to about 20 pieces with rice and soup. However, around this point, my chopsticks suddenly stopped moving. The weight of the fried food and the sheer quantity of 30 pieces started to take its toll, and I began to feel full. The impact of the fried food was overwhelming. For a moment, I thought I might have to pay extra for leftovers, but then I spotted some mayo on the table, which I rarely use. When I tried it with the karaage, it was a game-changer! I switched up the flavors and successfully finished the meal by getting a half portion of rice and soup as a refill. Normally, I'm not a fan of putting mayo on my karaage (I'm not a fan of mayo in general), but it really saved me this time. Overall, the experience was heavier than expected, not just in terms of volume. Next time, I'll go for 20 pieces to enjoy it more comfortably (?). Thank you for the meal!

It was hot and I wanted to have a drink during the day, so I came to this shop. The interior is spacious, and the food and drinks are extremely cheap! A huge size chu-hi drink for 400 yen, I don't think there is another shop this cheap. They also have ramen, pasta, and rice dishes, so this time I just had a light meal and some drinks, but I definitely want to go back to this shop.

I visited the restaurant about 30 minutes after it opened, but unfortunately, I couldn't try their famous chicken set meal as it was limited to the first 10 customers. I was a bit late and missed out. The Chicken Nanban fried set meal for 690 yen was served with tartar sauce over fried chicken, not marinated in Nanban vinegar as I had imagined. The rice and soup were refillable, which was a nice touch for those with a big appetite. The soup had a rich chicken broth flavor and was delicious.

Wow, it's been a while since I came to Shibuya Center Street, haha. It's Wednesday, and I still have some time before going to see a play at Bunkamura Theatre Cocoon, so I decided to have a light drink at "Taishu Stand Kandaya" in Shibuya Center Street (^O^)ノ It's an underground restaurant and quite spacious! I had just eaten ramen for lunch, so I ordered a cheap Sapporo Black Label draft beer (290 yen) with smoked potato salad and chicken liver sashimi. It's great that you can drink alcohol at such a low price in Tokyo, right? The potato salad with smoked potato had a nice crunchy texture from the smoked potato, and it was delicious (^ ^)‼️ And the chicken liver sashimi, lightly boiled and eaten with salt and sesame oil, was just like regular liver sashimi, right? Delicious and affordable! But since I have a reservation at a yakitori restaurant for dinner, I couldn't eat more, so I just drank more alcohol, haha. Starting with a Shari shochu lemon sour, and then, oh! They have a good selection of Japanese sake at a great price (^ ^)‼️ So I decided to try... Wakatake Onna Nakase Junmai Daiginjo (from Omuraya Sake Brewery in Shizuoka Prefecture). And now it's time to finish and head to the theater for the play, haha.

Kanda-ya, a popular stand in Shibuya, is a must-visit. The restaurants in Center Gai where you can drink during the day are all cheap, delicious, and highly satisfying! Be sure to try the Ikura Negi Toro Don - you won't be disappointed! There are other affordable and appetizing menu items, so I definitely need to go back. The staff is friendly and the drinks come out quickly!

I arrived around 5:30 pm on Sunday and the restaurant was almost full. It was a perfect timing. The atmosphere was lively with some people already feeling the effects of alcohol. Some people were being turned away around 7 pm as it was getting crowded. Since ordering is done by calling out, it can be difficult if it's too noisy. The prices were very cheap and I was worried about the quality due to the low prices, but it was actually decent. The Toro Taktower looked impressive and I ordered it twice. The orders came out quickly and the drinks were cheap. Overall, it's a great place to drink when you just want to relax. It's also good for taking photos and seems like a popular spot for girls' night out.

This is an izakaya restaurant located underground in Center Gai. It's a good place to eat a variety of dishes little by little. They have table seats, counter seats, and a standing drinking area. I used the counter seat, which felt more relaxing compared to the table seats. The clientele is mostly college students, with an equal mix of men and women, creating a lively atmosphere like a school. The prices are reasonable, which is great for enjoying a meal. The sukiyaki is on the rich side, making you crave for rice. Although the number of hearts (organ meat) is only 4 pieces, they were delicious. Being able to order just one piece of chicken cartilage is convenient when you want to eat a small amount. The highball and other mixed alcoholic drinks are a bit weak, but it's nice that they have yogurt to mix with soft drinks. I had 2 glasses of yogurt, 1 highball, 1 sake, a spilled ikura (salmon roe) rice bowl, a beef sukiyaki, 1 heart, and 1 chicken cartilage, totaling around 3100 yen. Taste: ★★★☆☆ Atmosphere: ★★★☆☆ Cleanliness: ★★★☆☆ Speed: ★★★☆☆ Portion size: ★★☆☆☆ Cost performance: ★★★★★

It seems to be part of the Tengu series. It feels like a casual drinking spot within the Tengu series. You eat at tables and chairs, but there is also a small standing area where you can drink without a seating charge. They serve lunch and have a standing drinking option, which is worth it as there is no seating charge or cover charge. The chu-hai is 190 yen. The seasoning of the grilled peach goes well with alcohol. However, while it is tender, it lacks a bit of meaty flavor.
