I went to Daimaru Shinsaibashi store for dinner without knowing they had an eat-in option. Upon the suggestion of my companion, we decided to try the set menu called "551 Men" which includes ramen and a slightly smaller portion of fried rice. We also ordered shrimp shumai to share. The ramen had a slightly firm noodle texture, similar to cold noodles, with a gentle soup base that was delicious, typical of Horai. It had plenty of minced meat, which I was able to finish with a slotted spoon. The fried rice had a refined flavor with a hint of soy sauce. The shrimp shumai was as expected, delicious. Personally, I prefer a lighter flavor, but sharing the dishes made it just the right amount to eat.

On a holiday night, I visited the 551HORAI store located on the basement floor of Daimaru Main Building in Shinsaibashi. They have an eat-in space. I had never bought anything from there before. The pork buns were competing with a combination of pork and onions, and the juicy dough was slightly sweet. The dumplings had a lot of vegetables, and the assertiveness of the chives was strong. Eating in the store can be a bit expensive, so taking out and enjoying it on a bench in Dotonbori might also be a good idea. Thank you for the meal!

When I think of Horai 551, I always thought they only sold pork buns, since I moved to Kansai over 30 years ago. But it turns out they also offer regular Chinese cuisine. I discovered this for the first time when I visited the Daimaru department store in Shinsaibashi. They have a counter where you can eat in. I tried the seafood yakisoba set meal. The yakisoba noodles were quite firm and the flavor was strong. The seafood sauce on top had lots of vegetables and was delicious. The fried rice in the set was well-made. Thank you for the meal.

I ate lunch earlier, so I was a little hungry and decided to eat in. The takeout line was long, but if you eat in, you can also order for takeout and it was convenient to sit and eat while waiting. Some people ordered individual items, while others ordered from the lunch menu, but the turnover is quick so seats become available quickly.

Ordered Gomoku fried rice, pork buns, and shrimp shumai. The dishes arrived within 10 minutes. The fried rice was delicious and fluffy, the pork buns had a chewy skin and were tasty! The shumai was also delicious! The seating was only at the counter facing the aisle, so it felt a bit uneasy. The staff were friendly, and the food was tasty, so it was good!

Everyone knows the delicious "Butaman" from "551 Horai", right? It's really tasty! On days when I don't feel like cooking dinner, especially when I'm alone at night, I often buy a single "Butaman" as my dinner. And on this particular day, I also got another favorite of mine, "Sweet and Sour Meatballs". The original sweet and sour sauce in it is so rich and delicious, I love it! The meatballs are quite big, so 2 or 3 are usually enough for me. Wrapping them in lettuce and eating them is super tasty! The original sauce is a bit too strong for me to eat it alone, though. The "Butaman" costs 190 yen and the "Sweet and Sour Meatballs" cost 350 yen at 551 Horai, which is very reasonable. I usually buy them at Namba Takashimaya or inside the Nankai train station, but this time I bought them at Daimaru Shinsaibashi store. It's great that they are both affordable and delicious! Even though they can be a bit smelly when carrying them around, it's all part of the charm. Bon appétit!

There are many menu items with "seafood" in the name, such as seafood noodles and seafood yakisoba, which include ingredients like squid and vegetables in a sauce. Dim sum items like pork buns and shumai are available for takeout, but you have to buy a certain amount. However, if you dine in, you can order a smaller quantity, which is convenient for solo diners. Just keep in mind that the pork bun that costs 380 yen for 2 pieces for takeout is 260 yen for 1 piece when dining in, making it more expensive.

I came to 551HORAI on the first basement floor of Daimaru Shinsaibashi. The right side is the takeout corner and the left side is the eat-in corner. Let's enjoy the freshly made taste of 551 Horai in the eat-in corner. The menu in the eat-in corner includes their famous pork buns. I have been enjoying their pork buns as souvenirs for many years, but the freshly made ones have a different level of deliciousness. I also tried the shumai and shrimp shumai. The shumai has a simple taste of pork and onions. It is quite large and satisfying to eat. The shrimp shumai, although smaller than the shumai, has delicious plump shrimp. To finish, I had the mixed fried rice. The staff cooked it right in front of me, and it had shrimp in it. The green onions were crunchy and tasty. The soup was also delicious. Located at 1-7-1 Shinsaibashi-suji, Chuo-ku, Osaka City, Daimaru Shinsaibashi Main Building B1F.

Near Shinsaibashi Station, there is a 551 located in Daimaru. When you think of Osaka, you think of takoyaki, kushikatsu, Rikuro Ojisan's cheesecake, and 551's pork buns. I always buy 551's pork buns as souvenirs when I visit Osaka. I was delighted to find out that you can actually eat freshly made pork buns in the store, not just buy them as souvenirs. I enjoyed a large pork bun while it was still warm. The dough was chewy and the filling was juicy. It's true that freshly made ones are the most delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I went to 551HORAI. When you think of 551, what comes to mind? Pork buns, right? I had shrimp shumai and sweet and sour pork meatballs. These are my go-to items! I forgot to take a picture of the shrimp shumai because I was too eager to eat, so I only have a photo of the sweet and sour meatballs. Once you buy them, you just want to eat them right away. The shrimp shumai and meatballs from 551HORAI are irresistible. It's hard to resist. Itadakimasu!

The Daimaru department store has been renovated, and this new store has a counter seating area where you can see the kitchen right behind it, so it feels safe to eat there. This time I got takeout, but I would like to try their eat-in menu next time.

On September 20, 2019, the main building of Daimaru Shinsaibashi store opened its doors. There is also a 551 HORAI store on the basement floor. In addition to the familiar "butaman" (pork bun) and other 551 products, there is also an eat-in counter available. I sometimes crave the beloved butaman, and I also like the meatballs. I always buy cold noodles in the summer and ramen in the winter (2 servings for 350 yen). The special soy sauce flavored ramen has a refreshing egg noodle and delicious soup. I enjoy topping it with meat and vegetables.

This is a shop located in the Daimaru underground mall in Shinsaibashi. While many shops in Horai specialize in takeout, this shop allows customers to dine in and enjoy freshly steamed hot pork buns, shumai, and other dishes inside the store.

The other day, while driving on the highway with my children, we spotted a car with the logo of 551 and an illustration of a meat bun. The kids immediately started chanting "We want to eat meat buns!" Despite the current situation with COVID-19 and the recommendation to stay home, I couldn't resist their pleas and ended up going to buy some meat buns. Meat buns have been a favorite of mine since I was a child. When we returned home with the meat buns, the kids were overjoyed. Even though staying home can be stressful, eating meat buns together as a family made us forget about everything and we enjoyed them with smiles on our faces. The "At some point~" commercial really does come true.

Dinner at 551 Horai and Chimaki! Delicious!

- Pork bun, seafood steamed dumplings, fruit-flavored ice candy were taken out [Pork bun] I tried the pork bun from 551 Horai for the first time. Even though it doesn't contain garlic, it has a solid taste and I was very satisfied. The accompanying spicy condiment was delicious, but it tasted even better with Nuoc Mam sauce. When I brought the pork bun home, I put the paper bag in a zippered tote bag, but the delicious smell of the pork bun still came through. This must be the famous 551 Horai smell! (Sorry to the people I was with for making them smell it) [Seafood steamed dumplings] The ingredients were quite large. It was seasoned with soy sauce, and the taste was neither good nor bad, just average. [Fruit-flavored ice candy] It had a much more refreshing taste than I expected. It wasn't dominated by any specific fruit flavor, but it wasn't subtle either. It had a harmonious taste. When it comes to summer at 551 Horai, it's all about the ice candy, and in Osaka, it's all about the mixed juice, so I chose this flavor. It was to my liking, so I was happy with it. - This store is located in the underground shopping area of Daimaru in Shinsaibashi. It's right in front of the south exit of Shinsaibashi Station on the Midosuji Line, so the access is excellent. Around 3:30 PM, there were about 10 people in line, but by 4:00 PM, there was almost no line. I was leaving for Hokkaido via Itami Airport that day, and I was planning to use the 551 store at Itami Airport, but since there was hardly any line here, I decided to use this store instead. The store at Itami Airport had over 50 people in line, so it was a great decision to use this store (laughs). - This time, I ordered the classic pork bun, but the dumplings and shumai looked delicious too, and I was curious about the meatballs next to the register. Also, seeing how crowded the eat-in area was, I became interested in the eat-in menu as well. If I have the chance to go again, I would like to use the eat-in area next time! Thank you for the meal!

Today Shufu is closed, so I bought a bento box on my way home. Yesterday I bought a shumai bento, but today I bought the Shinsaibashi A bento from 551 Horai at the Shinsaibashi store. I ate it about 3 hours after buying it, but the pork buns were still soft and the fried rice was fluffy. It was delicious even though some time had passed. Truly the heart of Osaka at 551 Horai.
