In the Horobetsu area of Noboribetsu City, there is a Japanese restaurant with private rooms that is delightful. The atmosphere is great! The staff are friendly, and although the lunch was a bit pricey, I was quite satisfied. Let's go to Noboribetsu Onsen for a day trip! I recommend the Yumemoto Sagiri Yu hot spring. The sauna is steamy, and the two types of hot springs, both 100% natural, are amazing. The price of 450 yen for the bath is cheap! For lunch, we narrowed it down to three restaurants: 1. Granada, a Spanish-style restaurant in Shiraoi 2. Wakana, and 3. "Shun no Daidokoro Kurumi" near this restaurant. Since my companion was in the mood for Japanese food, we decided to visit Wakana, but to our dismay, "Kurumi" was temporarily closed! (6/14-6/15) What bad luck! Thankfully, I had bookmarked Wakana in advance. When I searched on Google Maps, it said it was busier than usual. We arrived at the restaurant, and there was a parking lot in front. If it's full, you can look around the area. We entered the restaurant, and the female staff, dressed like traditional inn attendants, greeted us warmly. I had only seen the menu and food photos in advance, so seeing them in person made me excited. We took off our shoes and were seated at a table. Oh! It's a private room! There were also counter seats, where some businessmen were dining. We looked at the menu. As expected, the prices had increased since I last saw them. However, considering the atmosphere, the staff uniforms, and the availability of private rooms, the prices didn't seem too high for this range. The limited-time menu item, the Fresh Sea Urchin Bowl Set for 2,200 yen, seemed quite cheap. The lunch menu started from 1,430 yen. I immediately decided on the Sashimi Set for 1,430 yen, as it included my favorite sashimi. My companions ordered the Tempura Set for 1,430 yen and the Shrimp and Scallop Fry Set for 1,485 yen. Drinks were included, so I ordered an iced coffee for after the meal. Many day trip hot springs in Noboribetsu cost over 1,000 yen, but if I could enjoy the hot spring and lunch for under 2,000 yen, it was worth it. (By the way, you can buy discounted bathing tickets near the Yumemoto Sagiri Yu bus terminal!) It was crowded, but our food was served in about 12 minutes. The Sashimi Set for 1,430 yen came with free rice refills! When the food was served, they said, "Please let us know if you'd like more rice." Seriously?! What a delightful service! If not for this service, I would have rated it a 4.0, but because of the free rice refills, I gave it a 4.3! And the dishes! The dishes were so beautiful! They didn't break the traditional Japanese atmosphere from the moment you entered the restaurant. Even the restroom was clean and had a touch of traditional Japanese elements. First, I tried the miso soup. It was a classic miso soup with wakame seaweed, but the shape of the bowl was unique. It was a refreshing soup with a deep dashi flavor. The seasoning was a bit strong, but it paired perfectly with the rice. Next, I had the boiled spinach. I didn't add soy sauce from the table and ate it as is. It was delicious! The sweetness of the spinach and the subtle dashi flavor were delightful. I had only tried the miso soup and spinach, but this restaurant was a hit. Now, onto the sashimi. There was tuna, surf clam, octopus, whelk, and white fish on the luxurious five-piece sashimi platter. And it wasn't the usual salmon and shrimp; instead, there were clams and octopus, which was quite nice. Great selection! The tuna was probably frozen, but it was still good. The tuna was fresh and delicious. The white fish was...
