Today is my day off! I had some errands to run in Nihonbashi (*^o^*) I was thinking about having a drink at lunchtime, so I decided to go for a garlic-infused meal \(//∇//)\ I visited Ramen Otokojuku Nihonbashi branch! It's located right in the middle of Otaku Road. After passing through the maid catch, I arrived \(//∇//)\ The exterior, signs, "If you're a man, go for extra toppings" ... well, that's not possible for me, so I went for regular toppings (laughs) I purchased a meal ticket at the ticket machine. I chose the "Headmaster Ramen" for 790 yen. You can choose the amount of noodles, vegetables, lard, and garlic (*^o^*) Upon entering, there were about 6 counter seats, and there were 4 customers already there. The somewhat intimidating male staff asked about my preferences. Regular noodles, 200g, vegetables, lard...extra. Garlic...extra extra \(//∇//)\ They mentioned that it would take a bit longer to serve because they use homemade thick noodles. However, it only took 5-6 minutes to be served! With extra vegetables and lard, and extra extra garlic, it's quite a sight \(//∇//)\ The visual... a mountain of bean sprouts topped with lard, a thick slice of chashu, and lots of garlic \(//∇//)\ It looks amazing (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))♡ First, I pushed aside the bean sprouts and tasted the soup... despite the extra lard, the fat wasn't floating much, so there was no separation, and it was a rich pork bone soy sauce soup... quite like the Jiro-style soup that I enjoy (*^o^*) I dissolved the garlic in the soup for an extra punch! The junkie in me went for extra extra garlic (laughs) I grabbed some lard and bean sprouts... the lard had a decent punch of umami and sweetness, and the bean sprouts had a thick texture with a huge amount (*^o^*) On the table, there was a note about flavoring the bean sprouts with kombu salt... I added a little, but it wasn't really to my liking (laughs) I finally reached the noodles and slurped them up... the noodles were wavy and flat, not curly, with an uneven thickness. They were a bit crunchy! I tried the chashu... it wasn't fall-apart tender, but had a solid meaty texture. When dipped in the soup, it became just tender enough and tasted great \(//∇//)\ I added some shichimi and vinegar halfway through to make it milder and more refreshing, and finished it easily ✌︎('ω')✌︎ This was my fourth time trying Jiro-style ramen in Osaka, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
