I visited a ramen and maze-soba restaurant affiliated with Sanpuku Men on a weekday night. There were about 3 customers already seated. I ordered the Taiwan maze-soba set with 3 pieces of fried chicken and rice using the ticket machine outside the entrance. The broth was soy sauce-based with added aromatic oil, and it paired well with the whole wheat homemade flat noodles. The spicy kick from the chili oil combined with the numbing sensation of Sichuan pepper, and the creaminess from the raw egg created a satisfyingly indulgent flavor. The noodles had a chewy texture and good elasticity, with excellent integration of toppings and sauce. The meal ended with complimentary rice, and you can further customize the taste with Sichuan chili, Sichuan pepper, and vinegar available on the table.

I am "Noro Nori," mainly going around eating lunch in Sakai. There is a ticket machine at the entrance. I chose Taiwanese ramen. There is also a second floor, but I sat at the counter on the first floor. The clear soup was light and delicious Taiwanese ramen. Thank you for the meal.

I was turned away from two ramen shops and had to buy a meal ticket outside before entering a small counter with about 6 seats and two other customers. There was supposed to be a second floor, but maybe they were short-staffed because even though we were a group of two, we weren't seated upstairs. It took about 7-8 minutes for the food to arrive, and I wish it had a bit more spiciness, but overall it was delicious. I was hesitant to try the Taiwan-style mixed noodles for lunch because of the smell, but I'll definitely try it next time. Thank you for the meal.

Taiwanese ramen and Taiwanese maze-soba seem to be popular here as well. I used it for lunch in Namba. It was similar to the Taiwanese ramen I had in Nagoya, spicy and delicious. The Taiwanese donburi with minced meat goes well with rice, it's a good set. The service was good, with free extra-large servings. It's a Nagoya gourmet dish, but it's also nice to eat in Namba.

I visited for lunch. The shop is located near Nihonbashi Otaku Road, and I was able to enter without waiting in line. I ordered the mixed noodles, but the taste was a bit weak and not very spicy. Personally, I do not recommend it.

Located in a small alleyway connecting the former electronics district of Nihonbashi and the now popular Otaro Road, is a ramen shop called Kaoru. Despite being aware of this place for a long time, I had never visited as I never felt inclined to. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I found myself becoming a lunch refugee and ended up here. Originally planning to go to Hirudora for spicy ramen, I discovered it was closed for emergency reasons. So, I decided to try the Taiwan Ramen at Kaoru. In Japan, when you hear Taiwan Ramen, you might imagine the minced meat, leek, and garlic-filled Taiwan Ramen inspired by the taste of Anzai in Nagoya. However, sometimes you may come across a more general type of ramen served in Taiwan being labeled as Taiwan Ramen, so it's a bit of a gamble. It was late lunchtime when my order arrived promptly. The Taiwan Ramen here had a look that resembled the Nagoya-style Anzai-inspired Taiwan Ramen. However, the toppings such as leek, bean sprouts, and minced meat were all quite modest. The garlic flavor was not prominent, leaving the overall taste lacking in depth. It felt lukewarm. The soup lacked clear definition, making the whole dish unsatisfying. So, I asked the staff if they had garlic, and they provided me with grated garlic in a small dish. I didn't hesitate to add it all in. I also noticed a container on the table that seemed to contain chili peppers and what looked like Sichuan peppercorns! By mixing these together to my liking, the taste became more defined and distinct. It was initially underwhelming, but after adjusting the flavors, it transformed into a more Nagoya-style Taiwan Ramen.

Just off Otome Road in Nihonbashi. I was craving maze soba and feeling hungry, so I ordered extra noodles and also got some rice. When it arrived, it didn't look like a lot, but once I started eating, it was definitely a generous portion. The default level of spiciness wasn't too high. There was a spice like ichimi that you could add for more heat, which was nice. Overall, it's a place more focused on quantity than quality, but that's not to say the quality is low.

I walked from JR Tsuruhashi Station to Otaku Road area in about 45 minutes, checking out Sen'nichimae Street along the way. When I arrived, there were few people around and some shops were closed for the Obon holiday. I visited "Taiwan Mazesoba/Taiwan Ramen Kaoru" where there was a ticket vending machine outside. I chose "Taiwan mazesoba (with extra rice)" on the machine, then went inside and handed the ticket to the staff. They asked me about the noodle portion size (regular or large, same price) and I chose regular since it came with extra rice. The Taiwan mazesoba had toppings like minced meat, egg yolk, nuts, chopped seaweed, spices, onions, leeks, and garlic chives. The thick straight noodles had a firm texture and when mixed with the soy sauce base, it had a smooth sweetness followed by a gradual spicy kick. It was more on the mild side with little numbing sensation. The extra rice portion was generous and left me feeling full. There were condiments on the table like sansho pepper, spices, sesame, vinegar, and fried onions. The restaurant had only 8 counter seats on the first floor, and there seemed to be more seating on the second floor. During lunchtime, there were always 2-3 customers with the energetic owner managing the place alone.

I visited the restaurant during a less crowded time to avoid going out too much. I had a hot lunch during the midday heat. The best choice for when you want to sweat a lot is hot ramen and spicy food. So, I had the Taiwan Mazesoba and Taiwan Ramen Kuan for lunch around 2 pm. Since I went during off-peak hours, there were only 2 other customers who left soon after, so I was alone. I ordered the Taiwan Ramen and Taiwan Don set. Both dishes were not too spicy, but for someone like me who is not good with spicy food, they were quite hot. The Taiwan Ramen had a clear soy sauce-based soup with tasty meat miso, although I expected a stronger scent of Chinese five-spice powder. The topping of leeks and spicy seasoning paired well with the ultra-thin straight noodles. The unique kneaded noodles may be a hit or miss for some people. Since the noodles tend to stretch, I personally imagined that they would go well with Hakata ramen-like noodles. As for the Taiwan Don, it was spicy. Even the normal version was quite spicy for me. The meat miso and raw egg yolk helped to mellow the spiciness, making it easier to eat, but it was still too spicy for me. However, I couldn't stop eating it. It made me want more and more of the meat miso. It's a dish that makes you want seconds. The first floor of the restaurant is quite small. There is also a second floor, and if they make some improvements to the noodles and become more proactive in their business, they have a lot of great products, so it's a missed opportunity. I really felt like coming back to this restaurant.

Taiwanese ramen originated from Nagoya's Aji Sen, but now it has become a popular dish found everywhere. The same goes for Taiwan Maze Soba. When I uploaded this review, I found out that it is part of the Sanpo Men group. I happened to pass by the store and went in. The first floor had around 9 counter seats. There is also a second floor. I looked at the menu on the ticket machine. The main options were "Taiwan Maze Soba," "Taiwan Ramen," and "Tonkotsu Ramen." I purchased a ticket for the Taiwan Ramen + Aburi Don set for 890 yen. You can adjust the spiciness. It mentioned extra noodles for 100 yen, but when I handed over the ticket, they asked if I wanted a regular or large portion. I chose regular. The soup was light with chopped leeks, bean sprouts, and minced meat, with mild spiciness. The noodles were made from whole wheat flour, giving them a chewy texture. I added fried onions halfway through, which enhanced the flavor and richness. The saltiness was a bit strong, so I didn't finish the soup. This dish might be well-liked by the general female population. Bon appétit!

I went to a restaurant called Kaoru in Nihonbashi and tried their Taiwanese ramen. When I think of Taiwanese ramen, I usually think of Aisen in Nagoya. However, this Taiwanese ramen was different. It had a soy sauce-based soup with minced meat and thin noodles, and it was delicious. The meal cost 690 yen for a large portion. They also provided grated garlic, chili pepper, vinegar, sesame seeds, and onion chips on the table for seasoning. It was a great experience for flavor customization.

I went to Nihonbashi after a long time and tried the Taiwan Mazesoba at a place called Kaoru that I was curious about, which seems to be a sister store of Sanpuku Men. The dish had the usual ingredients with nuts on top. The noodles were different, being flat noodles, and the flavor was a bit on the light side for a Taiwan-style mazesoba. The nuts added a nice touch. And at the end, there was a fun surprise - Oimeshi (extra rice) which turned into something like a porridge because there was a lot of sauce.

Discovered a Taiwan ramen and mayo rice bowl service set for 790 yen and ended up changing it (^◇^;) I didn't really feel like eating a chashu mayo rice bowl, but it was 100 yen cheaper than usual so I had no choice but to go for it (laughs). Watching the other customers, it seems like everyone is just ordering what they want to eat without getting the service set. I wonder if this is the difference between those born in the Showa era and those born in the Heisei era... #Osaka Nipponbashi #Otaku district #Taiwan ramen #Taiwan maze-soba #Kun #Love a good deal Showa person

Located in a slightly deep area near Nihonbashi, this Taiwanese mixed noodle restaurant has a very eye-catching sign that is easy to spot. I order the most basic Taiwanese mixed noodles. The taste is... well, it's Taiwanese, I guess? It's easy to eat, but I'm not exactly sure if it's authentic Taiwanese flavor. The texture of the onions stands out. The noodles are decent in thickness and firmness. The flavors like spices are not very strong, giving it a Japanese twist on Taiwanese mixed noodles. Overall, it's not bad.

Taiwanese Mazesoba. Taiwanese Ramen Kaoru While shopping in Nihonbashi, I decided to try Taiwanese ramen. I used to go to a Taiwanese ramen specialty shop called Aisen in Minami, and it was incredibly delicious. I have fond memories of it. I used to love their extra-large portion of celery in the Tanzai noodles, and I would go there about 4.5 times a month without fail. Let's start with the regular Taiwanese ramen and see how it goes! The noodles are straight and thin, the soup is soy sauce-based, and the minced meat in the Taiwanese ramen is quite large and fairly tasty. I wish there was a bit more garlic chives. I wonder if it can beat the taste of the old Aisen? What do you think? Taiwanese Mazesoba/Taiwanese Ramen Kaoru 4-15-11 Nihonbashi, Naniwa-ku, Osaka City, Osaka

On October 5th, Saturday, I rode my bicycle around Nihonbashi in Japan. Let's have a late lunch. So, I visited Kaoru-san, who serves Taiwan Mazesoba and Taiwan Ramen in front of Animate in Nihonbashi. The area around here has been changing rapidly, but they are doing well. I checked the menu on the ticket machine. While Mazesoba is the main dish, they also offer Taiwan Ramen and Tonkotsu Ramen. Initially, I had a bias towards Mazesoba and Tsukemen and only ate Ramen. However, Mazesoba and Tsukemen are also delicious. They have various set options like Taiwan Don, Aburi Don, Menchi Mayo Don, Karaage Don, etc. Toppings include green onions, seasoned egg, raw egg, bamboo shoots, chashu, bean sprouts, extra meat, etc. For side dishes, they offer Karaage, Fried Wonton, Aburi Chashu, and Goma Teba. They have a more limited selection compared to other noodle shops. I decided to go with Mazesoba as usual. Since they serve extra rice at the end, I skipped ordering any rice dishes. I also ordered a seasoned egg as a topping. Even though Mazesoba already comes with a raw egg. After a short wait, the Mazesoba arrived. It has a beautiful color combination with a bright yellow yolk at the center, minced meat, chopped seaweed, onions, and walnuts. There are two types of green onions, small and medium-sized, placed on top. I mixed it with a spoon and chopsticks. The noodles have a firm texture with a strong elasticity, almost like rubber, and a strong wheat flour aroma. The minced meat and onions make a great combination and are delicious. The chewy texture is satisfying. There is a hint of spiciness from the chili oil, but the raw egg covers the overall taste well. I finished it in no time. Lastly, I had the extra rice with the sauce, which also goes well with the rice. It was a lunch with a lot of mixing. Thank you for the meal.

The Taiwan Mazesoba is light and includes peanuts, but personally, I don't need them or would prefer them crushed. The noodles are thin, so for those who want a hearty meal, getting the large size is recommended. You can choose between regular and large sizes at the regular price. Thank you for the delicious meal!

This shop is located about a 5-6 minute walk from Namba. It mainly serves Taiwan-style mixed noodles and Taiwanese ramen. I was planning to go to Umeda, but decided to make a little detour. The area around here has a vibe similar to Akihabara. Later, I found out it's called Otaku Road. As I was walking, I stumbled upon this shop. Since I was still hungry, I decided to go in. There was a ticket machine outside where you place your order. This time, I ordered the double serving of mixed noodles. The interior of the shop had more seating than I expected, with both counter and table seating on the second floor. I sat at the counter on the second floor and waited for my order. The mixed noodles arrived in about 10 minutes. I'm not great with spicy food, so I ordered the double serving, but it wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be. The spiciness was there, but the flavor was just average. It was a new experience to have nuts in the dish. The noodles were medium-thick and flat. In Nagoya-style Taiwan mixed noodles, fish powder is usually added, so it felt like something was missing without it.

I visited this restaurant for the first time after a live performance at Zepp Namba, as I was hungry and they were open until 23:00. There was a ticket machine next to the entrance, so I bought my ticket before entering. I arrived a little after 22:00 and there were two staff members, a man in the kitchen (maybe the manager?) and a woman serving. It was great to find a ramen shop open at this late hour. I ordered the Taiwan Mazesoba and it came with chopped onions, seaweed, green onions, peanuts, minced meat miso, and a raw egg yolk on top. The noodles were firm and medium thickness. The spiciness was not too strong, but the seasoning was quite salty. They recommended adding vinegar to change the flavor, but it didn't agree with my taste. I tried to salvage it by adding rice, but it made things worse. It felt like my stomach acid was coming back up... Not a pleasant experience. I've had similar issues with other Taiwan Mazesoba in the past, so it seems like I just can't find one that suits me. It's a shame because it would have been delicious if I hadn't added the vinegar. Thank you for the meal.

On New Year's Eve, I usually focus on watching the Kohaku music show and switch channels. However, I can record two shows, "Gaki Tsukai" and "The Lonely Gourmet". Unfortunately, I can't watch "Year-end Bar Crawl". Oh well, that's life! A few days later, I start watching the recorded shows one by one, and it's finally time for "The Lonely Gourmet". In this episode, Goro-san is enjoying "Taiwanese Ramen" which has become a popular B-class gourmet dish in Nagoya. I've tried Taiwanese mixed noodles in the Tokai area before, but I've never had Taiwanese Ramen. Watching Goro-san's usual hearty eating makes me crave it, just like the magic of "The Lonely Gourmet". Despite being close to Nagoya in Osaka, I couldn't find many options for Taiwanese Ramen when I searched online. After considering time and location, I decided to try this particular restaurant. After 8 pm, many good restaurants close in Namba, and there are groups wandering aimlessly around Otaku Road. I arrived at the restaurant with a sign that said "Taiwanese Mixed Noodles vs Taiwanese Ramen". I ordered the Taiwanese Ramen set (890 yen) at the ticket machine outside the restaurant, requested it to be spicy, and handed over the ticket. After waiting for a few minutes, the ramen was served. I started with the soup, which was a light chicken-based soy sauce broth with chili oil, bird's eye chili, and Sichuan pepper. Despite ordering it spicy, it wasn't very spicy, and I didn't even break a sweat. The broth had a refreshing taste. The toppings included a generous amount of minced meat and leeks. The noodles were thin whole wheat noodles, and I recommend getting the free extra large portion. I also tried the Taiwanese rice bowl, which seemed like a meal version of Taiwanese Ramen. It tasted like a staff meal, but adding the condiments on the table made it more interesting. Overall, the restaurant was decent, but I felt like it was lacking compared to what Goro-san described in the show. I hope they do another season of "The Lonely Gourmet" with more interesting dishes.
