ITAYA
I purchased this snack at a convenience store in Rumoi City. When I stopped by the Michi-no-Eki Rumoi, I noticed a smoked kazunoko and cheese combination called Kazuchii being sold as a souvenir in Rumoi. I don't usually buy souvenirs, so I skipped it. Later, I found the same product at a convenience store in the city and decided to buy it as a snack to go with alcohol. I thought it was Glico's Pretz, but it was actually sold by Ihara Suisan, a company known for kazunoko. The taste was cheesy with a strong cheese flavor. The kazunoko seemed to be of lower quality. It was delicious. Surprisingly, there was no information about the manufacturer on the box, but the shape of the box resembled Pretz. The back of the box read, "Kazuchii has become Pretzel." Kazuchii is a combination of kazunoko and cheese. The ingredients include flour, shortening, corn grits, sugar, starch, margarine, salt, wheat gluten, seasoned herring roe, processed cheese, creaming powder, cheese powder, soy sauce powder, bonito dashi, yeast, yeast extract, fish sauce powder, kelp extract powder, gelatin, seasoning (amino acids, etc.), sodium phosphate, flavoring, leavening agent, silica, trehalose, acidulant, sorbitol, carotene color, (contains wheat, milk, gelatin, and soy in some parts). Each box contains 45g (2 bags of 22.5g each) and should be stored away from direct sunlight and high temperatures. Sold by Ihara Suisan Co., Ltd., located at 1-24 Funamachi 1-chome, Rumoi City, Hokkaido 077-0005.
