Today's Lunch
Today, I came to Namba with my mother to see Yoshimoto Shinkigeki, so before that, we went to Kinryu for the first time in ages! As soon as we entered the restaurant, we bought a meal ticket at the ticket machine on the left, handed it to the staff, and waited at our table. When our order was ready, we went to pick it up ourselves. Rice, kimchi, spicy leeks, and garlic are all free. Water is self-service. I ordered the ramen for 800 yen. There is also a chashu ramen for 1100 yen, but even the regular ramen has plenty of chashu. The soup is a mild tonkotsu broth, and it's great when you add the spicy leeks for an extra kick. The noodles are thin and cooked just right. It was a delicious meal!

As a Tokyo native, I had heard about Kinryu Ramen as a popular spot for a nightcap. Despite my initial confusion over the system, I decided to give it a try after seeing comedians talk about it on TV. I purchased my ticket from the machine and found myself at a messy table, surrounded by foreign tourists. The self-serve kimchi and garlic chives were decent enough as accompaniments. The ramen itself was as expected - the broth was okay, but the noodles were a bit too soft for my liking. Overall, it's not bad for a post-drinking meal option.

Ramen prices have increased from 600 yen to 800 yen, and Chashu ramen prices have increased from 900 yen to 1100 yen. I was able to get a seat quickly before 4 pm, but I need to eat quickly because seats won't open up. The ramen can be eaten even after drinking. The restaurant is open from 9 am to 10 pm, so you can't have morning ramen or go after a drinking party.

This is Kinryu Ramen at the Torihashi Bridge store! It's the morning ramen at 8:40 am! While the Dotonbori store is crowded with tourists from early morning, here you can usually get in right away, so I decided to try it here! The menu is of course ramen! It's the Naniwa Light Series Tonkotsu soup, a light pork bone broth. The noodles are homemade thin noodles, slightly soft. The thin noodles go well with the light tonkotsu soup. There's only green onions and char siu, no bean sprouts. The char siu is chewy and meaty. Of course, I also got free rice, kimchi, garlic, and leeks, and added them to the ramen. The sourness and spiciness of the kimchi, the kick of the leeks, and the strong punch of the garlic are all delicious. I also put kimchi, garlic, leeks, and char siu on the rice, creating a delicious footstep kimchi char siu rice bowl. Having morning ramen at Kinryu Ramen is a good change of pace!

I visited "Kinryu Ramen @ Ebisubashi" in Namba, Osaka. It was a little before 10:00 PM and there were many customers already. Since there were four of us, we were able to use a large table. I froze at the ticket machine... they don't serve alcohol... then, a staff member of Asian descent said, "You can bring your own alcohol, it's okay." Oh, really? BYOB? Was it allowed before? Oh well. One of my companions dashed to a nearby convenience store lol
Ramen ¥800
While waiting, I checked out a few things. The buttons on the ticket machine had stickers revealing the price increase. Help yourself to free kimchi and garlic chives. You can bring your own alcohol, so we bought canned beer and made a toast. And then it arrived! The noodles were slightly thin. The texture of the noodles was still so-so lol Maybe it would have been better if they were firmer. The soup was light. It was okay after drinking lol I wonder how it would taste when sober? The concentration was much better compared to the main store. The taste was to my liking after adding the garlic chives. I couldn't find the minced garlic... was it just missing? Lastly... the closing time was 10:00 PM. I remembered Kinryu being open 24 hours. There was a sign saying they close at 10:00 PM due to the extension of COVID prevention measures. Even though the restrictions have been lifted. Maybe they don't have enough staff for late-night shifts? Overall, it was a typical Kinryu ramen. It gets better with the garlic chives. I recommend it. With the garlic chives, I would rate it 3.0 stars. Without the garlic chives, it would be a disaster lol Thank you for the meal. 2023.05

⭐️There was also a line, but it seems smoother to enter than the Dotonbori store! ⭐️The keywords are the aroma and taste of tonkotsu, thin straight noodles, and a nostalgic flavor. ⭐️Order through a ticket machine for ramen or chashu ramen! Seating is half in a tatami room, hand the ticket to the staff at the back, and pick it up when ready! Also return the ticket! 【Order】 ● Ramen 800 yen Aromatic tonkotsu soup without any unpleasant smell, homemade thin straight noodles, slightly fibrous chashu, green onions, and a touch of fat are the main components! The aroma and flavor of the soup, combined with the thin noodles, are the perfect combination! Delicious! Additionally, rice, garlic chives, and kimchi are provided as a service, allowing for enjoyment as is or for flavor variation. Other option: Chashu Ramen 1,100 yen 【Access】 3-3 Namba, Chuo-ku, Osaka City, Osaka 3-minute walk from Namba Station on the Midosuji Line When I come to Osaka again, I would like to revisit this ramen restaurant. Next time, I would like to enjoy a meal at the open atmosphere of the Dotonbori store nearby. So, everyone, enjoy your meal (^^)!

I felt like eating Kinryu Ramen, so I tried a couple of other shops but they were crowded. The Ebisubashi branch was a bit empty, so I went in and ordered ramen. Rice, kimchi, leeks, garlic, and water are all self-service and free. That's amazing! The ramen was delicious too.

Lunch in Namba. Finally tried out "Kinryu Ramen" that I've been curious about for a while. Today is a full day of Namba sightseeing (lol). It's bustling during lunchtime. They have tatami mats and tables? No chairs here (lol). Purchase a meal ticket at the entrance. The menu only offers "Ramen" or "Chashu Ramen". Simple, right? I got the "Ramen". You'll be instructed to sit when a table is available (lol). Hand over the meal ticket in the back. Meanwhile, they serve free rice, kimchi, spicy leeks, and garlic in styrofoam bowls. They quickly bring the ramen after serving water. Light pork bone soup with straight noodles. It feels nostalgic even though it's my first time trying it. I really like this. You can eat the kimchi and leeks with rice. You can also customize the flavor by adding them to the ramen. It was very delicious. It's simple but well-organized. Thank you for the meal.

If you have 1000 yen, you will get change back. At this ticket-based restaurant, if you order ramen, you can enjoy unlimited self-service rice and kimchi. The ramen itself is just okay, but for this price, it's impressive that you can fill your stomach at a 24-hour restaurant. There are a few branches around Minami, so it's convenient for breakfast, a light lunch, or a late-night meal.

This is Kinryu Ramen at the Tsutenkaku-suji branch! I visited early in the morning at the end of the year, around 8:40 am this time. Even at this time, there was quite a crowd of tourists and people who had been drinking the night before. This time, of course, I had ramen! I chose the light Osaka tonkotsu soup with homemade slightly soft thin noodles. Of course, I added some pepper from the beginning for a little kick. The bowl had a lot of leeks, a few bean sprouts, and some chewy sliced pork. I also received free rice with kimchi, garlic, and chives. I added the kimchi, garlic, and chives to my ramen. The spicy kick from the kimchi and chives, along with the strong garlic flavor, made it a true Kinryu Ramen experience. Of course, I topped the rice with kimchi, chives, and pork to make a hearty bowl. It was a hearty meal from the morning!

This is Kinryu Ramen in Torihashi, Namba! It's the weekend morning! After finishing up errands in Namba, it's time for breakfast! Breakfast ramen it is! The menu is all about ramen. A light Naniwa pork bone soup, with a mild and thin soup base. The noodles are homemade thin noodles, slightly soft. Of course, add some pepper on the table. A bit spicy, it goes well with the light pork bone soup noodles. Of course, free rice, kimchi, garlic, and leeks are included. A little bean sprouts, firm chashu, garlic, kimchi, leeks, and a touch of garlic, kimchi's acidity, and leeks add a nice kick. Add some garlic, kimchi, leeks, chashu on the rice, and you have an instant chashu rice bowl. Finally, pour the soup over the rice. A garlic-packed bowl for a hearty start to the morning!

[Golden Dragon Ramen Comparison of All 5 Stores 5/5] Finally, at the Ebisu Bridge store, the ramen costs 800 yen. The soup is punchy with a lot of oil and strong pepper, similar to the main store. The homemade thin straight noodles are a bit soft. Toppings include green onions and chashu. The chashu has a good thickness and texture, but it's a shame that it has a strong odor. Like the main store and Namba Sennichimae store, here you can enjoy unlimited rice, kimchi, leeks, and garlic. The rice is a hit, tasting almost freshly cooked. After trying all 5 Golden Dragon Ramen stores, it's hard to evaluate because of subtle differences, but my personal ranking based on preference is as follows: Ramen: Namba Sennichimae store, Midosuji store, Dotonbori store, Ebisu Bridge store, main store. Self-service items: Ebisu Bridge store, main store, Namba Sennichimae store, Dotonbori store, Midosuji store. I visited the restaurant "Kinryu Ramen Ebisubashi" for dinner. This restaurant is a bit off the beaten path in the Minami area, but it has a cozy atmosphere. They used to have time restrictions due to the pandemic, but now they have resumed their 24-hour operation. You can sit down and enjoy your meal, and they offer free refills of garlic, kimchi, and white rice. I think the free refills are the best part of Kinryu Ramen, but it's important to note that not all locations offer this service. I added garlic and had seconds of rice, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

This is Kingyuu Ramen at Torihashi store!! It's 8 am on the weekend!! I'm in Namba!! Even at this time, there are quite a few people on the weekend, right?? I chose the Naniwa Light Series Tonkotsu Ramen for breakfast!! The menu includes ramen with a light tonkotsu broth and homemade soft thin noodles!! Of course, it comes with free white rice, kimchi, leeks, and garlic, and they also add a lot of pepper here!! I saw for the first time that it includes a lot of leeks, slightly sweet and firm chashu, and finely chopped chashu pieces!! The light tonkotsu broth with plenty of garlic, the acidity of kimchi, and the spiciness of leeks make this the true Kingyuu Ramen!! I put kimchi, leeks, and garlic on the white rice, added chashu, chopped chashu, and soup to make a footprint chashu rice bowl!! It was a bowl that can be enjoyed in Namba, a 24-hour tourist destination!!

The light pork bone soup with straight noodles is topped generously with unlimited garlic, green onions, and kimchi. Without these toppings, it would just be a regular ramen. Although the price has gone up to 800 yen per bowl due to rising ingredient costs, considering the unlimited rice and toppings, it seems reasonable. The style of serving has changed due to COVID-19, now the toppings are added by the staff rather than self-service, so adjusting the amount to personal preference is not possible. However, I always ask for extra toppings from the start. The soup's richness and the balance of chashu cuts may vary slightly depending on the day (or the staff), but it's within an acceptable range.

Inside the restaurant, each table (independent tatami-style seating) is equipped with acrylic panels. It seems like two people could sit across from each other separated by the acrylic panel, but as a measure against infection, strangers are not allowed to sit together. I visited during the daytime on a weekday after a long time. When I bought my meal ticket and looked at the monitor, I saw that the ramen was priced at 800 yen. Hmm, that's quite expensive, at least for me. However, considering that rice, kimchi, and leeks are free here, maybe 800 yen isn't so bad for a filling meal. I asked for less rice and added kimchi. The chashu (roast pork) seemed a bit dry, but there were several slices included, which may appeal to some people. Additionally, there were small pieces of chashu with a strong flavor, which I preferred. I sprinkled a lot of pepper on without any particular reason, and it turned out to be quite good. I miss the old chaotic days of Kinryu.

I usually go to the Senichimae location, but today I went to the Ebisubashi location! The soup lacked depth and the noodles were too soft. The chashu was a bit tough and had a strange smell. The service was great, but overall it was disappointing. It seems like the taste changes when the chef changes! And they just raised the price by 200 yen recently, so disappointing!

On January 4th, 2022, around 8:35 PM, I enjoyed the soul food of Ramen Minami, the iconic Gold Dragon Ramen. The rice is free, and so is the kimchi. A lively system that makes customers happy. Nighttime in Minami is definitely best with Gold Dragon Ramen. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Namba, head to Kinryu Ramen. Walk into the kitchen on the left, where a pot of boiling tonkotsu soup awaits. The ramen is decent for the price, but a bit sloppy. It strangely pairs well with a drink. Thank you for visiting and reading. (´∀`)/

On Saturday morning, feeling a bit hungry, I decided to try the famous morning ramen at "Kinryu Ramen Dohtonbori" around here. I bought a ramen ticket for ¥600 from the ticket machine, handed it over at the counter, and chose from the free toppings (rice, kimchi, leeks, garlic). Even though it was almost 10 o'clock, the restaurant was packed with morning ramen lovers. Everyone really loves morning ramen, haha. Itadakimasu!
