It's been a while since I last visited Subway, and I was reminded of how good it is. I decided to have a light dinner at the Shibuya station transfer. When looking for a light meal on weekends, it's not always easy to find a place that isn't crowded, so I headed to this shop a little off the main street from the station. It had been 9 and a half years since I last visited a Subway, back when I was still a student and thought to myself, "It feels like something is missing, it's just a lot of vegetables..." But as I've gotten older, I've come to see this in a more positive light. I walked from one end to the other of Mark City and saw the green Subway sign outside. Although they had seasonal menu items, I decided to go with the classic option, the Shrimp and Avocado Potato Drink Set (\910 including tax). It had been a while, so I had already done some research on customizing my order using my smartphone. I chose a simple wheat bread, extra vegetables (about 1.5 times the usual amount), and no additional toppings or accent vegetables. There were so many dressing options that I would definitely get lost, so I went with the recommended Creamy Vegetable dressing from the staff. I paid with my Suica card, poured myself some Coke Zero from the dispenser, and sat at the counter seat by the window. While charging my phone, I dug into my Subway sandwich after a long time. The sandwich had lettuce, tomato, onion, and green pepper, a crunchy vegetable quartet. The main ingredients were shrimp and avocado, but the vegetables seemed to steal the show, which is unique to Subway. The slightly fragrant whole wheat bread had a satisfying chewiness. It filled me up at about 70-80% full. The potatoes were thinly sliced and had a thick texture. They were more moist and sticky compared to the crispy fries from other fast food chains. I usually prefer crispy potatoes, but I found these to be delicious in their own way. As John Lennon's Christmas song played in the background, I finished my Coke and left the shop. It had been quite a while since I last visited Subway. As I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate the abundance of vegetables at this restaurant. Thank you for the meal.
