Half-chan Ramen Set Meal (Soy Sauce) for 840 yen at Raamen Rokumonsen in Yodogawa-ku, Osaka City. Today's destination was Yamafuji, but there was a long line. Nearby Ichisaku also had a line. Kappa Ramen suddenly closed unexpectedly. I ended up at "Rokumonsen," with the Sanada family crest. Surprisingly, only 2 people were waiting outside. The area around Shin-Osaka is desperately lacking in restaurants, so lunchtime is always crowded with lines. To satisfy the hungry salaryman's stomach, I noticed a set menu with rice dishes. I could smell Chinese food, so I chose the Half-chan Set. The half-fried rice was quickly served by the man who seemed to be the master, who was energetically shouting. It was quite a generous portion for a "half," with a clear taste of soy sauce. It had a nice texture and was quite to my liking. Next, the ramen was served. The slightly cloudy chicken-pork soy sauce soup had a somewhat blurry flavor. Spicy miso was placed on top of the chashu, which would change the taste in the second half, but when mixed, the miso dominated, creating a completely different flavor. The noodles were firm and thin. Not bad. The toppings were chashu, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and green onions. The kitchen operation, like a battlefield, swiftly handling the never-ending line, was truly impressive. Overall, Rokumonsen Ramen seemed to cater to salarymen in a hurry, without focusing too much on the taste.
