I hadn't been to Kinryu in nearly 10 years, but it seems to have gotten a little better! For an extra 40 yen, you can get ramen with extra pork fat, which makes it quite rich. They have added more varieties of ramen and there are plenty of manga to read, which manga lovers will appreciate. It was a bit disappointing that there was no sauce for the extra noodle refill, but overall, it's not exceptionally delicious. However, I think it's worth going once a year.

Kinyu, where delicious and filling tonkotsu ramen is served at an affordable price, is known for having many regular customers. Although garlic is an additional charge, it is a popular option for customization. Kinyu has only two locations in Kitakyushu City, which is unfortunate. The soup is quite rich for a standard tonkotsu ramen. The noodles are thin and easy to eat. The chashu is made from pork belly and cut thick, which is satisfying. The soup has a dark, rich color. For dinner sets, you can choose between ramen with gyoza or fried rice. The extra noodle portion is generous. I personally ate a bowl of chashu ramen and 6 extra servings of noodles here. The footage of this challenge will be shared on the YouTube channel "Chuugui Non" at a later date. Please subscribe to the channel.

I had a set of Onomichi ramen and half fried rice. The noodles in the Onomichi ramen were very thin, similar to the noodles in Hakata ramen. I thought that medium-thick noodles would have been better with Onomichi ramen, but the soup was very delicious and I enjoyed it until the end. The half fried rice was tasty but a bit salty.

I visited Kinryu for the first time in 5-6 years. I was really hungry, so I ordered ramen and curry. The prices were 430 yen for ramen and 490 yen for Kinryu curry. The ramen used to be in the high 300 yen range before, so I was a bit disappointed that it's now 430 yen. However, it's still quite cheap compared to other places, so no problem there. The taste was the same as before, easy to eat with that classic Kinryu flavor. And when it comes to Kinryu, you can't forget about their curry. I felt like the taste had changed for a while, but recently I tried it again since it seemed new. The flavor was quite spicy and delicious. It felt like Kinryu's cheap and tasty curry had made a comeback. I found out that there are only two Kinryu stores left in Kitakyushu City. It may not be a top-notch restaurant, but it's simply delicious, cheap, and fills you up, which was perfect for me during my broke student days. I remember 20-25 years ago, they used to have all-you-can-eat onsen eggs. Even now, the regular customers who find the free pickled vegetables useful are quite a lot. I think the tough situation for restaurants will continue, but I hope the Kinryu near my home will last long. I will visit occasionally.

Tsukemen ramen with seasoned soft-boiled egg + half fried rice set for 740 yen. [Gloomy Sunday] The song was first recorded in Hungarian in 1935. The first English recording was in 1936. The Hungarian title "Szomorú vasárnap" means "Gloomy Sunday". It is famous as the "suicide song" (also as an urban legend). I tried the Onomichi ramen at the Kokura Minami shop (which seems to have closed down) to verify what the normal version is like. I also ordered the fried rice. The noodles are medium-thin, same as the Onomichi ramen. The soup tastes like a good quality instant ramen. It's not bad. Now, the fried rice. It's supposed to be fluffy but it was too dry, almost too dry. I wouldn't recommend it. It's edible but I finished it quickly. I sprinkled some black pepper on it. Other customers were all reading manga. I follow the motto of eating quickly and leaving immediately. Thank you for the meal.

I haven't been satisfied with garlic in my ramen for a long time, so I came here with that in mind. I really like garlic and I always add extra toppings even if it costs extra, but I've never been satisfied with the amount I get. The restaurant had a garlic press and the soup tasted pretty good, so I used to go to Kinryu a lot in the past. The seating arrangement has changed since then, but I found the garlic press near the kitchen, which was a relief. Lunchtime was over, so I remember the tonkotsu ramen being around 400 yen, and adding extra lard was just a few tens of yen more. I'm going to use a lot of garlic now until I'm satisfied, so I felt like I needed to order more than just ramen. I ordered gyoza and white rice too. I really like garlic rice and garlic gyoza. I think the total was around 700-800 yen. The gyoza arrived first, so I started crushing garlic onto the side of the plate. Freshly crushed garlic is so delicious! I ended up with about 8 pieces and then stopped, feeling a bit hesitant. I savor it carefully, so I think it will be enough (probably). The tonkotsu ramen with extra lard was actually quite ordinary and not as rich as expected. I thought it was more on the lighter side for a ramen with extra lard. I slowly added the crushed garlic and enjoyed the soup and noodles. The noodles were easy to eat, not too chewy or tough. When I add a lot of garlic, it can make the taste a bit heavy and unhealthy, but when I crave ramen, I actually prefer this kind of flavor! The gyoza was small with thin skin and surprisingly delicious. The rice was firm, so I like to soften it by dipping it in the soup with the chashu. I've had experiences where I felt like I didn't have enough extra garlic, so when I feel lonely, I'll come back again. I hope they keep the system of unlimited freshly crushed garlic, even if they make it a paid option in the future!

As of the first Tuesday in December 2018, this ramen shop is ranked 274 out of 297 in Kitakyushu, with a rating of 3.00 stars. The overall taste is very strong and salty, making it seem suitable after drinking. The first time I tried their Onomichi ramen, it was just too salty and lacked the authentic Onomichi flavor, more like instant ramen. The fried rice and karaage were also overly salty, making me order a beer without even thinking about it. The second time I tried their tonkotsu ramen, it was still a bit salty but better than the first experience. The broth had a decent pork flavor, so I thought it was okay. They advertise having manga available, so it seems like a good place to hang out and kill time, especially when it's not crowded.

It's probably been about 15 years since I last had this ramen. It's from a chain restaurant, but the noodles had a nice chewy texture.

Today's lunch was at Hakata Kinryu! I had the lunch ramen set and I wasn't expecting much in terms of taste, but I really liked it! I was happy to see that toppings like takana, red pickled ginger, and spicy miso were all free! The half-fried rice was also delicious and nostalgic. I would love to go back again if I have the chance! Thank you for the meal!

[Date] Midnight on a weekday in January
[Situation] Three adults
[Frequency] Around the 4th visit
[Access] 15 minutes walk from JR Shimosone Station
Late at night, in a snowstorm... but we felt like eating ramen, so we headed to "Hakata Kinryu Sone Bypass Branch". The location of the restaurant is within walking distance from the big JR station. Inside the restaurant, there are counter seats and several table seats, with a capacity for about 40 people. Here is what we ordered:
- Tonkotsu Ramen (400 yen) → The soup is a dark brown color. The noodles are thin. The chashu is thick slices of pork belly. As for the taste... it's a matter of personal preference, but I think it's good. I always add two cloves of garlic, and considering the price, it's worth it!
- Ajitama Ramen (480 yen) → Similar to the above, but with a delicious looking seasoned egg.
- Gyoza (5 pieces for 360 yen) → Each piece is large and satisfying! Perfect as a beer snack.
- Oyakodon → It's a new menu item and surprisingly good! The rice is a bit hard, but it's not bad for a late-night meal. The fact that it's open until midnight and has manga available is really convenient. Thank you for the meal.

In the past, my family used to go there often, but I think I haven't been there since the rice was lukewarm. The fried rice seemed to be made by a machine... It's been so long that I'm not sure. The interior of the restaurant has changed from the past. The exterior also looks different, so maybe they renovated it. I was surprised to see it almost full on a Sunday lunchtime. There were a lot of customers, haha. Looking at the menu, there are many different types of ramen. There's Onomichi ramen, tantanmen, and so many choices that I'm lost (#^.^#). In the end, I decided on the regular tonkotsu ramen! It's only 400 yen, which is cheap, right? But that's not all ^_^; I also added half-fried rice and 3 gyoza (dumplings) for 450 yen. My mother ordered cold noodles. It was crowded, so it took a little while for the ramen to arrive, and I was looking around. The father and daughter next to us were eating first. The daughter seemed to be around middle school age. She ate very slowly ^_^; I was worried that the ramen would get soggy if she kept eating like that!! While I was thinking about that, the ramen arrived! I got excited for the first time in a while with ramen. I took a sip of the soup. Hmmmm? It's sweet? What kind of sweetness is this, it lingers. It's not a sweetness that you can't eat, but I regretted not choosing a different ramen. The noodles were thin. The chashu was soft and thin, just one slice. I was happy to see wood ear mushrooms. The fried rice was a bit on the salty side, but it was delicious. However, it's a shame that it wasn't hot. It's not lukewarm, but it's not hot. The gyoza was big with a crispy outer skin and a chewy inside, and it was delicious. I wanted to have a beer (*^。^*) I took a bite of the cold noodles, and the noodles were springy and delicious.

When I went to Fukuoka, my friend recommended this place to me! Although I was curious about the tonkotsu ramen, I decided to try the Kinryu Abura Soba instead! I ordered it with thin noodles and firm texture. I mixed it well all the way to the bottom to thoroughly coat the noodles! It was my first time trying Abura Soba, and I loved it! Adding a bit of garlic gave it an extra punch and made it even more delicious!

During my student days, I used to visit a friend who worked at a different store for part-time job, and I would eat there a few times. It felt like a manga cafe to me. It was like, "I'm at a manga cafe, so I might as well try the ramen they have..." That kind of feeling. I only stop by this store once or twice a year. When you enter the store, you see a vending machine offering Doutor Coffee for 100 yen (for customers who dine in only). It feels even more like a cafe. There are still lots of manga books! A space that book lovers would love. I sit down and look at the menu. The 2015 version!? Come to think of it, the menu seems slightly different from the last time I visited... I ordered the Onomichi Ramen. My husband ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and half curry. The menu is quite extensive! ----------Cut---------- The ramen is served. I slurp the Onomichi Ramen. Hmm, it's not as good as I expected. The saltiness sticks to the noodles, and it tastes delicious. The Tonkotsu Ramen. Hmm. It's not a traditional ramen, so the taste of artificial seasoning is quite prominent. The half curry. I was surprised by the portion size! It's too small. Is it the same at other restaurants too? The taste is good, but it's a small portion, like something a baby could finish in three bites. It didn't seem worth the price. It's a shame. There are many menu options, as well as coffee and manga. The kids' menu is cheap, so it's good for families or those who want to relax.

Hakata Kinryu is a chain restaurant that many people may be familiar with. One of its selling points is that you can eat ramen for around 300 yen. The tonkotsu soup is creamy and not too strong in pork bone flavor, making it easy to eat but lacking in punch and richness. The ramen is decent for the price. The noodles are thin and straight, best enjoyed firm. Hakata Kinryu offers a variety of ramen types and side dishes, with many set menu options available. The fried rice and gyoza are decent in taste. However, I don't like that the gyoza sauce comes in a packet. Overall, if you're looking for decent taste at a cheap price, Hakata Kinryu is not a bad choice.

I landed in Kyushu and stumbled upon a local ramen shop when I got off the highway. It had a down-to-earth atmosphere and the prices were very reasonable. They had a variety of toppings and unique ramen options like Taiwan negi ramen, but I decided to go with a simple bowl of regular ramen. The taste was authentic and I could truly appreciate the flavors of Hakata ramen. The takana (pickled mustard greens) was also delicious. Looking at the photos again, I find myself craving another bowl. While the restaurant may not have high ratings on Tabelog, I am a fan of Kinryu Ramen. That's all.

Entering a ramen restaurant alone can be a bit intimidating, but this place seems welcoming for solo female diners. I'm thinking of coming alone next time. This time, I visited with my husband. We had tonkotsu shoyu ramen and onigiri. The onigiri was simple with firm nori on top. It went well with the self-service pickled vegetables. The tonkotsu shoyu ramen was thick-looking but surprisingly light in taste. The thin noodles were just to my liking. The dish was topped with plenty of bean sprouts and green onions, and the chashu was tender. I'd like to try the garlic-rich menu next time, as garlic is included in all dishes here (ramen, curry, fried rice). Garlic wasn't very noticeable in this dish.
