On a Wednesday in May 2023, a couple decided to take a day off and go shopping at an outlet mall. They usually avoid crowds, but since it was a weekday, they thought it would be less crowded. They decided to try a restaurant called "Umaya" inside the outlet mall. The restaurant had a comfortable atmosphere with spacious seating and high-backed chairs. They enjoyed the decor, which included beautiful Kutani ware plates and paintings. They ordered the "Premium Fried Horse Mackerel and Beef Tongue with Grated Yam Set Meal" for the husband and the "Simmered Pork Fillet Cutlet and Beef Tongue with Grated Yam Set Meal" for the wife. The beef tongue was thinly sliced, making it easy to eat, and the seasoning was just right. The pork fillet cutlet had a rich flavor without being too sweet. The fried horse mackerel was crispy and delicious. They both chose brown rice, but it didn't have a strong barley flavor. Overall, they had a pleasant dining experience and would consider trying a set meal with more beef tongue slices next time.

This is a full-service restaurant where you can order at your table and have your food brought to you. As a fan of beef tongue, I was pleasantly surprised to see that you can choose between white rice or barley rice when ordering. And you can even get seconds of rice. I decided to have dinner here after shopping. I ordered the grilled beef tongue set meal with a small portion of beef tongue (1530 yen). You can choose the type of rice and the amount when ordering at the terminal. The beef tongue portion seemed quite generous, but the meat was surprisingly thin and firm in texture. The white rice was a bit sticky, but it was still enjoyable. The miso soup was delicious and filled with plenty of ingredients. I ended up enjoying the rice and pickles more than the beef tongue, and I even had a half portion of rice as seconds. Overall, the meal was a bit on the pricey side, but the service was attentive and the atmosphere was lively. It's a great option for older adults or families with young children who may find self-service food courts challenging. The staff was polite and welcoming. They do not accept PayPay but do accept transportation electronic money.
