Fukuoka City, Hakata-ku, Kamimuta. The air conditioning is strong as you drive on Route 3. A few years ago, I was recommended by my father and have been loyal to Isshin Ken ever since. The restaurant has been open for 20 years and is run by a Chinese family. The signboard has been updated. They also serve chilled Chinese noodles. There is a ticket machine at the entrance. Self-service water. There are counter seats, tables, and tatami rooms. I ordered the Tantanmen for 680 yen (tax included). The rich and creamy soup has a strong sesame flavor. It is not spicy, unlike the usual Tantanmen, and is gentle and mellow. The meat miso is excellent with plenty of meat chunks. The chopped zha cai adds a nice texture. The noodles are thin Hakata noodles. They slurp up the soup well. I added an extra serving of noodles for 150 yen. Although the price has gone up, the satisfaction level remains the same. Thank you for the meal!

Fukuoka City's Toubie area has a tantanmen restaurant located along the urban expressway. It's convenient to stop by on the way to work as it's right off the Han-do bridge exit. I ordered the red spicy tantanmen. The appearance is like a regular tantanmen, but when you taste it, the spicy tantan soup is well-balanced with a mellow sesame flavor. It's quite spicy, but I don't think it's too spicy to eat. However, as someone who loves tonkotsu (pork bone broth), I felt that the depth of flavor was a bit lacking. It really depends on personal preference. I didn't try it this time, but I would like to try the fried rice set or gyoza next time. Thank you for the meal!

The Tan Tan Men at Isshinken has gotten a bit more expensive. Located along Route 3 in Kamimuta, Isshinken has been renovated since my last visit 10 years ago. I'm not sure if the interior has changed, but the menu has definitely been updated. The price of the Tan Tan Men used to be 380 yen, then 430 yen on my last visit, and now it's 580 yen. Prices have gone up, but it's still relatively cheap. The Shoyu Ramen is also mild and good for a hangover. I wish they would provide a slotted spoon for the Tan Tan Men though.

It seems like a shop that specializes in tantanmen and shoyu ramen. I visited for lunch. The interior of the shop is slightly more spacious than a small box, with a counter, tables, and a raised seating area. The tantanmen has plenty of sesame seeds - I like the sesame flavor. The saltiness is not as strong as expected, it's rather light. The fried rice is on the savory side. Both dishes are just right, as heavy flavors can sometimes be hard on the stomach. Thank you for the meal.

I have been going to this tantanmen restaurant for 15 years! It is run by Chinese owners, and they serve thin noodles with a great chewy texture. The soup is made from chicken bones, and the sesame flavor is amazing for sesame lovers. The parking lot is spacious and it is located near the international airport. I suddenly crave this tantanmen, highly recommended! ✨

Recently, I have been getting some work around the airport. Every time I passed by, I was curious about "Isshin-ken" so I decided to go there. The sign said "Tantanmen and Shoyu Ramen". I was in the mood for Tantanmen. When I entered, I chose my meal from the ticket machine. I realized I hadn't eaten much that day and it was already past 2 pm. I was really hungry. I ordered the "Tantanmen and Fried Rice Set" (870 yen). The restaurant had a decent amount of customers, but I didn't have to wait long for my food. Let's dig in! The Tantanmen was more like a ramen shop's version rather than a traditional Chinese style. It was pleasantly light for Tantanmen. The spiciness was not too strong, even I could handle it. The meat miso was delicious. The noodles were thin, which I liked. They slid down easily. It was a comforting bowl that I could eat every day. The fried rice in the set was round and had a good amount, simple yet very tasty. I was full. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I want to try the Shoyu Ramen.

【Visit Date】December 13, 2021, 13:00 【Food】The main menu at this restaurant is tantanmen and shoyu ramen. I ordered the tantanmen and fried rice set. (The photo shows both tantanmen and fried rice in large portions) 【Taste Evaluation】 <Fried Rice> Honestly, the fried rice was just salty. It seemed like it was seasoned only with salt and the taste of the chashu, so personally, I didn't find it delicious. <Tantanmen> It had a light sesame soup that felt a bit monotonous in flavor. I ordered it in a large portion, but one of the two servings of noodles was not well separated.

I had been passing by this restaurant many times due to other errands, but today I finally got to go in. (The wife seemed like she might be Chinese from the way she spoke, while the husband seemed Japanese.) My family ordered different dishes, but I had the dan dan noodles. The rich soup had a sesame fragrance, with plenty of minced meat and sliced pickled vegetables, and the noodles were similar to Hakata ramen noodles. I really liked it. Next time, I want to try the red dan dan noodles or the black dan dan noodles.

Today, I was in the mood for tantanmen, so I decided to revisit this place! I remembered they had dipping tantanmen too... maybe I'll try that. When I arrived at the restaurant, I didn't realize from the outside, but they had changed their menu to include yakitori and otsumami dishes. The noodle menu was still the same, which was good. The interior of the restaurant didn't leave much of an impression, but it felt familiar. Since I was there, I decided to try some yakitori and beer that weren't in my original plan. Yakitori choices included pork belly, liver, heart, and chicken thigh. I also ordered the dipping tantanmen and a beer, which was on a half-price promotion. I enjoyed the flavorful yakitori as a beer snack. Each skewer was reasonably priced for its size. I had to order another beer while waiting for my main dish. The dipping tantanmen arrived after about 10 minutes. The thick and rich soup had a strong sesame flavor that spread in my mouth. It reminded me of eating tantanmen before mixing the soup. The soup contained ground meat and chopped zha cai, which made me crave for soup-wari (soup dilution) at the end. The noodles were thick and chewy, served cold, with toppings like chashu, menma, and water dumplings. It was interesting to see additional negi (green onions) on top of the original negi in the dish. As I ate, the dish started to cool down, and I wished the dipping sauce was hotter. It was delicious, but in that sense, regular tantanmen would have been better. I thought about coming back to try the izakaya side of the restaurant when I have more time.

First visit. I ordered the Tan Tan Men and Fried Rice set with the extra spicy option. The level of spiciness may vary for each person, but for those who enjoy spicy food, it is totally fine and delicious. The soup is really tasty!! The noodles are also delicious!!
