Located at 1-1 Hakataeki Chuo-gai, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, on the 10th floor of "JR City Amu Plaza Hakata," you will find "Kuuten." The newly opened "Nishijin Hatsuki Kuuten Hakata Store" on August 28th is part of the popular and well-established brand "Nishijin Hatsuki," which currently has 7 stores including the Hakata store. As a sister brand, they also have "Hakata Nagaresushi Kaisenmaru" and "Taiwan Dumplings Yoki," which are hidden gems in the Nishijin area. The history of "Nishijin Hatsuki" dates back to 1934 when it was founded as a meat specialty shop called "Niku no Benkyo-ya." The founder, Hatsuki Kataoka, wanted to share the taste of domestic wagyu beef with more people, and this passion continues to this day.
The interior of the restaurant has a modern Japanese design, with a calm and chic atmosphere. They offer private table seating as well as semi-private table seating, catering to various dining situations. We ordered the "Special Imari Wagyu Shabu-Shabu Course," which included dishes like "Special Black Wagyu / Yubiki Senmai," "Tender Grilled Chicken," "Kumamoto Special Horse Sashimi (marbled meat, mane)," and "Black Wagyu Tail." The course started with a beef tataki appetizer, paired with beer for a toast. The a la carte dishes, especially the "Special Black Wagyu / Yubiki Senmai," were fresh and delicious, showcasing the expertise of the restaurant.
The highlight was the "Special Imari Wagyu Shabu-Shabu Course." The Imari Wagyu rib roast looked beautiful and tasted even better. We lightly dipped it in the three sauces provided – ponzu, sesame, and dashi – and found that the dashi sauce with green onions was the most delicious. The quality of the "Special Imari Wagyu" was outstanding, with large, tender rib roast slices that were beautifully marbled and flavorful. Whether enjoyed as shabu-shabu or sukiyaki, it was a top-notch performance.
They also offer lunch courses, making it a place where you can easily stop by for a meal. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience. Enjoy Meat Life☆
