On the way to Obihiro Airport, I came across a stylish cafe-like shop in the middle of vast fields. I tried the Rikubetsu deer meat and cheese pasta for 1650 yen (with mini gelato). The pasta was cooked with meat sauce and cheese on top, creating a chewy texture with crispy parts, which was delicious. The mini gelato was not so mini, and with self-service coffee refills, the price was quite reasonable. The fields outside the window were neatly trimmed, maybe potato fields? It would be even better if they had menus featuring Obihiro vegetables more prominently.

While on my way to buy craft beer at Obihiro Airport, I came across a cute sign and decided to stop by a cafe called "Tokachi Milk Cafe Mirune." I remembered seeing it in a gourmet book before. After shopping at the airport, I visited the cafe. They offer food menu items like raclette cheese for dine-in. Since it was snack time, I ordered gelato. I chose gelato made with buttermilk topped with nuts and maple syrup. The nuts and maple syrup were quite prominent in flavor. It was delicious, but it got stuck in my teeth! Also, the wooden disposable spoon had some splinters, which made the texture a bit unpleasant. Overall, the milk gelato was excellent.

On September 29, 2019, after having lunch at Mr. Nojima's house, we visited the newly opened Mirune-san in addition to Kofuku Station to pass the time before our flight. Even though we were full, we all agreed that we could still eat gelato and actually wanted to. It's great to have friends who are on the same page. The restaurant seems to be new, although the sign of the previous dining hall was still in the parking lot. The interior was beautifully renovated, with musical instruments like piano, horn, and trombone decorating the place, creating a lovely atmosphere. The tables and chairs were made from milk bottles, giving a sense of Tokachi. Now, the gelato. I ordered my favorite Buttermilk Tokachi Brandy Raisin. It seemed to melt quickly. I took a lot of photos, which is why. When I tried it, it was more refreshing in taste than I had imagined from the name Buttermilk. Since I was already full, it was just right and I enjoyed it comfortably. There were plenty of raisins, which made me happy. The Buttermilk Tokachi Honey Nuts that my companion ordered also had a delicious combination of honey and nuts. If I have time when going to the airport, I might stop by again. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Tokachi Milk Café Mirune this time, which I had to go after seeing the menu introduced in the previous blog. The restaurant had both previous and subsequent customers. I was seated at the counter where I could see the kitchen, perhaps because it was full of customers. The menu was a bit pricey, with the top menu item being the Raclette Cheese with Tokachi ingredients for 1550 yen (tax included). I opted for the Tokachi Field Cheese Fondue for 1500 yen and added an extra 300 yen for Tokachi vegetables and sausages. I also presented a coupon from a local magazine, and after about 10 minutes, a cheese plate was served. It included various types of Camembert cheese, all of which were easy to eat without a strong taste. The Camembert with sweet miso was an interesting combination of sweet miso and mild cheese. The Camembert had a creamy texture and a nutty crunch. The fondue and bread arrived about 19 minutes after ordering, and the additional Tokachi vegetables and sausages came 3 minutes later. The Raclette cheese had a nice crust on the outside, which added to the flavor. The bread was made with wheat from Urashoro Town, and the vegetables (potatoes and broccoli) were also from Tokachi, showing the restaurant's commitment to using local ingredients. The fondue was just the right amount, not too much, and remained delicious until the end. After finishing the meal, coffee was suggested. The milk gelato was light and refreshing, made with dairy products from Tokachi Nofuromaju, a local dairy product retailer. The restaurant aims to attract tourists by offering dishes made with their own dairy products, taking advantage of its convenient access from the Tokachi Obihiro Airport. The name "Mirune." is derived from "milk" and "see" in tourism, reflecting the desire to offer dairy-based dishes to tourists who come to Hokkaido. The restaurant also features chairs made from recycled milk cans used for milk storage. Overall, I enjoyed the meal made with high-quality Tokachi ingredients. Thank you for the meal.

Today is hot again (^^; Today, I went to the new store, Tokachi Milk Cafe, which was featured in the previous day's Tokachi newspaper by Shun-san. It seems like it's located in Nakasatsunai, at Tokachi Field Fromage. The location is on the Airport Line, in the area of Kofuku, where there used to be a store called Hanada. At exactly 11 o'clock, there were no customers before or after me. The exterior and interior have been renovated and look beautiful. They also sell gelato from Tokachi Field Fromage. The food menu is a bit limited. They seem to recommend the Raclette Cheese. I ordered the Tokachi Wagyu Seared Raclette Cheese Curry for 1,650 yen (tax included). It arrived in a skillet after about 10 minutes. It looked hot (laughs) and the portion seemed a bit small. I took a bite of the cheese... it was hot!! My mouth got burned (laughs) but that's usual for me (laughs). The cheese from Tokachi Field Fromage is rich and delicious as expected. It's full of Raclette cheese. The beef curry becomes milder and tastier. The Tokachi Wagyu is also delicious. When I finished eating, they brought me a set of coffee and a Cocotte gelato. Even though it's not a heat-resistant or circular dish, I wonder why it's called a Cocotte ('_')? Maybe it has a different meaning? I drank the coffee with the gelato in it (laughs). The gelato was not too sweet, smooth, and delicious. At the time of payment, when I said it was delicious, they gave me a commemorative gift. I will come back next time to have Raclette cheese. I ordered a calm café gelato and coffee. The interior of the shop has a cute atmosphere. The honey and nut gelato was delicious at 770 yen (tax included).
