This time, I visited the Japanese sweets shop "Jubundo" located between Kodai-ji Temple and Kiyomizu-zaka along Higashioji-dori Street. The item I tried this time was the Warabi Mochi Matcha Parfait priced at 1,000 yen. It includes two types of rice cakes, Suzunari Senbei, and Matcha Parfait. The Warabi Mochi melts in your mouth instantly and has a refined sweetness. It's delicious on its own, but even better with a sprinkle of kinako powder. The rice cakes include Black Sesame Soy Sauce and White Miso flavors. The Black Sesame Soy Sauce rice cake comes with black shichimi pepper on the side, adding a spicy kick. The White Miso rice cake is elegantly sweet and you can keep eating as much as you want. The Suzunari Senbei is a Hojicha cream cheese-filled treat, where the hojicha and cream cheese flavors blend perfectly. The combination of the senbei and the gentle cream is delightful. The Matcha Parfait contains matcha ice cream, wobbly matcha jelly, red bean paste, and white mochi rice cakes. The balance of matcha's slight bitterness and the sweetness of red bean paste creates an elegantly sweet parfait that is easy to eat.

Near the Jumbun-do Temple, there is a tea house where you can enjoy delicious tea, rice cakes, and matcha sweets. They offer freshly baked rice cakes, including a set of 5 different varieties. They also serve a set of shaved ice with rice cakes. The matcha shaved ice is rich and comes with cream, red bean, and white dumplings. The strawberry shaved ice is refreshing with a mix of fruits and cream. Many international visitors also frequent this place, making it a great stop for when you're tired from walking. Be sure to check it out! TikTok videos are being posted by Gourmet-chan.

A popular traditional Japanese sweets shop located near Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple. There is always a long line at this shop because it is so popular. The best time to go is right before they open! You can choose from 5 different flavors of bite-sized rice cakes. They are perfect for eating while walking around. The shop is named "Suzunari Dango," which means "bells lined up," with the wish that happiness will come raining down like bells. If you have time, try talking to the lovely shop owner!

【Location】It's good because it's close to both Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple.
【Queue】The shop is very small, so there is always a long line. It's impossible to go on holidays without waiting in line!
【Order】Taking photos inside the shop and of the food was allowed. Orders are taken verbally.
【Interior】The website says there are 16 seats. It may seem small, but it creates a nice atmosphere.
【Impression】Honestly, I was skeptical about waiting in line for dumplings, but it was worth it. I want to go again. The tea was also very delicious.

This is seriously the best, I love it so much (՞. ̫ .՞) I always order the family set (՞. ̫ .՞) Being able to eat all the varieties at once is just amazing (՞. ̫ .՞) The cookie-like thing on top of the parfait used to have a cuter snowman design, but this one is cute too (՞. ̫ .՞) And of course, it's delicious (՞. ̫ .՞) I'm usually not a fan of white miso, but the one here is incredibly tasty (՞. ̫ .՞) I always struggle to eat the isobe-yaki neatly and end up taking a big bite (´ . .̫ . `) When I first saw the shichimi spice, I was like shichimi...?? But it's incredibly delicious (՞. ̫ .՞) I've tried ordering it online before, but eating it in-store is definitely better (՞. ̫ .՞)

I visited the restaurant around 4 pm on Saturday. There was one table available, so we were able to sit down easily. However, the place seemed to be constantly busy with customers coming in, so it might get crowded during peak hours. The restaurant is small with about 5 table seats. As it was my first visit, I decided to order the Dango Set with 5 different types of dango for ¥750. The dango included sweet bean paste, grilled mochi, black sesame soy sauce, mitarashi, and Kyoto-style white miso. Today's tea was roasted green tea, which was perfect for the cold weather. The dango was chewy and delicious, and the small size made it easy to eat. All the flavors were tasty, but personally, I enjoyed the black sesame soy sauce and mitarashi the most. The black sesame soy sauce had a sweet and savory flavor that was irresistible, while the mitarashi was delicious with its generous sweetness from the kinako. It's not too filling, so I think it would be a good recommendation for tourists who want to try various foods while sightseeing. Next time, I'd like to try the seasonal "choko choko"!

Walking from Yasaka Shrine towards Kiyomizu Temple, there is a small shop on the left side. We were lucky to enter right away. The stick tea served first was delicious. Looking at the menu, we decided to try the "takarakuji set" which included various dumplings and a drink. It was nice to have a variety of drink options. The cute mini dumplings in 5 different flavors were satisfying. The black shichimi on the sesame dumpling added a nice kick. I would like to visit again.

During my trip to Kyoto, I visited a small restaurant that I had been wanting to go to. It was lunchtime, so the place was not crowded. The restaurant had about 3 or 4 table seats. I ordered the "Odan Warmer" set, which included a variety of small dumplings and a drink. The dumplings were so cute and tiny, it felt like I had become a small person. They were served in a cute dish, and each dumpling was delicious. Even though they were small, the texture was just right and the sauce was not too sweet. My favorites were the red bean paste dumpling and the black sesame dumpling. The red bean paste had the perfect level of sweetness and tasted like it was made with care. The black sesame dumpling was delicious on its own, but when eaten with the black shichimi pepper provided, it became a whole new experience. It was surprisingly good and I really enjoyed it. It felt like I had tried a new kind of dumpling. The set also came with authentic matcha tea, and considering the price, it was a wonderful meal. Thank you for the delicious food!

A shop in Kyoto where you can compare and enjoy different flavors of Suzunari Dango! Located near Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto, Jumondo offers a set of 5 different Suzunari Dango for ¥720. The flavors include Kyoto-style white miso, isobe-yaki, azuki bean, mitarashi, and black sesame soy sauce. The presentation is cute and all the flavors are really delicious. Each dango has a unique touch of Kyoto, like yuzu on the white miso, kinako on the mitarashi, and black shichimi on the soy sauce. The size is just right, making you want to have more. It's conveniently located near Kiyomizu Temple, so be sure to check it out!

When you think of Kyoto, you think of matcha and traditional Japanese sweets! This shop offers a variety of treats. The rice cakes are tiny, about three times smaller than they appear in photos, but they are so cute and can be eaten in one bite. I wish they were a bit bigger though! The shaved ice was perfect for cooling down on a hot summer day in Kyoto. The cream and red bean paste had a gentle sweetness that was delicious. The matcha sauce was rich and amazing! They also offer other traditional Japanese sweets like filled rice cakes and sweet red bean soup. I left feeling very satisfied! Thank you for the delicious meal!

They only allow a small number of people in at a time, but they make all the dango by hand after you order, so the delicious smell fills the shop. In the summer, cold matcha is nice, but it might be good to try the summer dango as well. The owner is a lovely person. ☺

I walked past and saw a cute shop curtain, so I decided to go in. Even though I was already full, I decided to buy something to take home. I ordered some mitarashi dango to go, and as I was leaving, the staff kindly asked me to sit and wait because it was hot outside. I was relieved by their kindness. When I opened the package at home, I was surprised to see small black dumplings lined up inside. After warming them up for about 30 seconds, I coated them generously with mitarashi sauce and kinako powder. The gentle sweetness was perfect for a snack. Next time, I would love to try sitting in the shop and enjoy some "dango" and matcha tea slowly. Thank you for the meal.

I visited on a Sunday afternoon. It's a popular sweet shop, so I had to wait in line for a bit. The inside of the shop felt a bit cramped for a larger person. I ordered the dango and drink set and while waiting, I was mesmerized by the cute dango that looked like a piece of art. The hot coffee that came with the set was served in a matcha tea bowl and was surprisingly generous in portion. Both the dango and coffee were delicious, so it would have been perfect if I could have enjoyed them a bit more slowly.

A cute little dumpling about the size of a fingernail! You can enjoy various flavors for 720 yen, which is great! Takeout is available starting from 5 pieces, and the staff kindly informed me that I could also eat them at the shop. I tried the mitarashi flavor and it was delicious!

I visited after lunch. I thought I could eat it because it was small, but I was defeated. I felt that there was unexpectedly a lot of food even though it was small. The taste was very delicious. You can taste various flavors little by little. Women would love it. I was full after eating a lot, but the green tea we ordered together was refreshing with a light sweetness. I even considered buying some to take home on the way back.

I went to Kiyomizu-dera to see the cherry blossoms and decided to indulge in some delicious treats along the way. The restaurant I visited was quite popular, with a line of people waiting outside even on a weekday. I got a ticket for my turn and waited for a while. I ordered the "Dango" set, which came with five different kinds of small rice cakes, along with a matcha latte and some roasted chestnut sweet. The dango was incredibly cute and I thought it was very reasonably priced for what you get. One thing that stood out to me was the "Black Sesame Soy Sauce" dango, which was delicious with a sprinkle of black shichimi pepper. The roasted chestnut sweet was also tasty, although I couldn't really tell if it was well-roasted. It was my first time seeing a matcha latte served in such a sturdy cup, and I thought the dango plates were all very cute.

Located on the road leading from Yasaka Shrine to Kiyomizu Temple, this shop specializes in rice dumplings. They offer 5 different types of rice dumplings, as well as chestnut paste, matcha terrine, matcha parfait, anmitsu, ice cream, shaved ice, and more. The rice dumplings come in sets of 6, which may seem like it's meant for two people based on the menu photos, but each set is actually connected in a loop and meant for one person. The rice dumplings are small enough to be eaten in one bite. I started with the ice cream to prevent it from melting. It comes with a slightly sweet rice cracker on top. I chose black soybean kinako and black sesame flavors, both of which had a gentle and subtle taste. Now, onto the main attraction - the rice dumplings. From right to left: The black rice dumpling is topped with sweet soy sauce and kinako powder, allowing the natural bean flavor to shine through. The isobe rice dumpling has a hint of seaweed and soy sauce, creating a harmonious and delicious taste. The white miso rice dumpling, despite its name, doesn't taste salty like miso soup, but rather has a mild flavor. The sweet bean paste rice dumpling is generously topped with sweet red bean paste and has the most sweetness among the five types. Lastly, the rice dumplings are grilled to a crisp, giving them a slightly burnt flavor. They are served with black shichimi pepper on the side, adding a spicy kick. My favorite was the isobe rice dumpling. Overall, they were all delicious and could be enjoyed as a snack or even a meal replacement due to their not overly sweet taste. Be sure to find your favorite rice dumpling when you visit this shop!

To Jumondo
Dango and drink set for 1,000 yen
Yuzu tea
I sat down and the place became full. Everyone else had small tables, but I was the only one at a table for four, sorry about that. I was planning to go to another restaurant but it was closed, so I came to Jumondo. The number of inbound tourists has decreased, so it's easier to walk around this area than usual. I always thought Jumondo would be crowded, but I was able to get in right away.

Arrived at Dango. The dango here looks cute and Instagram-worthy. It's appealing that you can taste different flavors little by little. The white miso flavor reminds me of the one I had at Kazariya the other day. Since you can eat it in one bite, people don't stay too long and the turnover is good. I thought it would only be young customers, but that wasn't the case, so I didn't feel out of place. It's in a convenient location, so I'd like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

The small and cute dumplings with a slightly burnt surface, plenty of white miso paste, and kinako sauce. It's like the grilled mochi I had the other day. If possible, it's better to eat freshly baked ones at the restaurant rather than getting takeout. At home, warming it up in the microwave makes it delicious ☺︎
