In Sapporo, I used to visit the basement of Esta and the main store in Kotoni, but it seems that they have split into two companies now. The stores in Hokkaido are under Ishiya Seika, while the stores in Honshu and Kyushu are operated by a company based in Nishinomiya. I was always curious every time I passed by the food show, so this year I decided to try their ohagi for the Higan festival. The employees make the ohagi by hand in the space where they usually bake taiyaki. At 216 yen per piece, it is very affordable and has an elegant taste. It's no wonder there's always a line.

I have been a fan for 10 years. The red bean paste made from Tokachi red beans is very delicious, and the ohagi is heartwarming and tasty. You can also purchase just the red bean paste. Noteworthy is the imagawayaki with soy milk cream filling for 140 yen. It is not seen elsewhere, making it a delightful gift. Recently, they have been offering various unique items like croissant taiyaki, but the soy milk cream red bean paste is still a surefire hit.

Shibuya: Tokachi Anko no Sazae - Tabelog Rating: ★★★☆☆ 3.1, Google Rating: ★★★☆☆ 3.6, Personal Rating: ★★★☆☆ 3.3
Introduction: Located in Shibuchika Food Court, "Tokachi Anko no Sazae" offers anko made from Hokkaido Tokachi red beans, which is said to be subtly sweet with a great flavor. Their large dorayaki filled with plenty of anko and limited quantity taiyaki are popular items that always attract a line of customers. Originally known for their ohagi, they also offer daifuku, dango, seasonal wagashi, and more.
Ordered Menu Item: Danish Taiyaki with Shiratama
Review: Instead of their famous ohagi, this time I ordered their taiyaki. As the name suggests, it's a taiyaki with shiratama (mochi balls) inside a Danish pastry crust. The crispy, buttery crust complements the gentle sweetness of the anko, and the shiratama adds a great accent in terms of both flavor and texture.

- Oh-yaki (plain, red and white)
- Plain: 130 yen
- Red and white: 141 yen
Taste: ★★★
Service: ★★★★ (they put it in a box for free)
Some shops offer demonstrations like "Imagawayaki" or "Kaitenyaki," catching the attention of customers who then make quick purchases.
Plain: Sweet. Very sweet. Some bean flavor.
Red and white: A mix with white bean paste. The sweetness is slightly toned down. Generally, you'll want to eat two pieces. Eating two pieces is too sweet. I prefer the ones with white bean paste.

On a regular day past 7 pm, I strolled through Shibuya and checked out the Tokyu Food Show by Shubichika, where many shops were offering discounted items. Even though I had already eaten dinner, I couldn't resist the temptation when I spotted some delicious-looking taiyaki. Unfortunately, they were sold out, but I found some cream-filled obanyaki that looked amazing. I have a weakness for these kinds of treats, so I ended up buying one for 118 yen. I intended to eat it on the spot, but it was so well-packaged that I decided to take it home. When I finally opened it at home, I found a hefty obanyaki with a slightly tough skin but a smooth and tasty cream filling. It was really delicious, and I regretted not buying some other flavors like azuki or soy milk cream. Well, I guess it's best to enjoy delicious food in moderation. Overall, it was a satisfying treat.

A shop located on the basement floor next to Shibuya Station's food show. While the prices of sweets have been increasing recently, this shop still offers reasonable prices for traditional Japanese sweets. They bake taiyaki in the shop, and when I visited, several foreign tourists were taking photos. Azuki bean-filled daifuku for 184 yen has a chewy texture and a deliciously sweet red bean paste filling. You can also taste a hint of salt. It was the most satisfying among the items I purchased this time. Danish taiyaki for 220 yen has a Danish pastry-like texture, so the shape of the taiyaki is a bit ambiguous, but it has a clear and delicious taste of croissant and red bean paste. I bought the large imagawayaki for 132 yen with both chunky and smooth red bean paste fillings. It didn't leave as much of an impression as the other two, but I appreciate the price of 132 yen. The shop is for takeout only, there is no seating area. Considering the convenience and reasonable prices, this shop is worth a visit.

I discovered a small shop selling daifuku and imagawayaki at the Tokyu Food Show Shibuchika in the underground of Shibuya Station. I was craving red bean paste, so I decided to stop by. They had Danish-style imagawayaki with white mochi inside. The Danish pastry had a strong buttery flavor, with a crispy, chewy texture that I enjoyed, but it may not be suitable for those looking for a regular imagawayaki. The white mochi was surprisingly good, and the balance with the red bean paste was nice. Thank you for the meal.

The taiyaki here has a crispy and chewy skin that is delicious! It is filled with chunky red bean paste and white mochi, providing a satisfying bite. However, if you don't like a buttery taste, you may want to avoid it. I tried the limited-time rare cheese cream dorayaki, which had a generous amount of cream and was very tasty, but the skin was disappointing. It was too hard and not to my liking. They also offer dango and daifuku. There weren't many customers during lunchtime on weekdays. Even if you buy two items, it's less than 400 yen, so it's cost-effective.

"TOKACHI Anko's Sazae" is a shop located in the Tokyu Food Show in Shibuya, where you can watch the production process through glass windows. Although the shop's name suggests it is from Hokkaido, the parent company Sazae Shokuhin seems to be based in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture. I was curious about it before, so I bought the classic Ohagi (180 yen) and the seasonal Sakura Mochi. The Sakura Mochi comes in two varieties: the Nagamineji-style from Kanto (thin-skinned Sakura Mochi for 150 yen) and the Domyoji-style from Kansai (140 yen). Me? I bought both, of course. I enjoyed them as a snack in the food court, and my impression was that they were decent for the price. Rather than comparing them to traditional Japanese sweets, it's more appropriate to say they are better than average supermarkets but not as good as specialty shops like Kii-Koku or Biosebon. The quality of the anko (sweet red bean paste) feels a bit cheap. As for the Sakura Mochi, I personally prefer a moister texture. If you don't mind traditional Japanese sweets, these are easy to eat and leave a somewhat forgettable impression. They might be suitable as a snack while watching TV. If you walk to Hikarie, you'll find my favorite Sentauro, which is only a few tens of yen more expensive, so I recommend that instead."

I have been a fan of this traditional Japanese sweets shop for a long time. The combination of sweet red bean paste and soy milk cream is amazing. The red bean paste has a gentle sweetness that even non-sweet lovers will enjoy. The comforting and gentle taste is hard to find elsewhere!

It's about a line, I'm not sure why, but today, the line seemed to be breaking up, so I bought various things one by one. The Danish pastry taiyaki had a bit too much oil... and I'm wondering if the large dorayaki is delicious.

- At "Sazae" known for their popular "Danish Taiyaki" and Obanyaki, I purchased the Tencho red bean skewered dumplings (made with mugwort) and daifuku (also made with mugwort).
- The characteristic of their wagashi like the grass daifuku is the strong flavor of mugwort.
- The red bean paste made with Tencho adzuki beans has a sticky and soft texture that pairs perfectly with the mochi.
- Thank you for the delicious treats!

During the renovation of the Shibuya Food Show, I was worried whether this shop would come back after the renovation. But I was happy to see it return! Today, I bought sweet red bean, white bean, and cream dorayaki, all freshly baked. I enjoyed them in the eat-in area inside the Food Show. The dough was chewy with a slight pull, and the sweet red bean was reliably delicious. The white bean was thick and gentle, with some beans left intact which added to its appeal. I love cream dorayaki for its smooth texture and good aftertaste. Today, there was a long line of people waiting. They were ordering various sweet treats like ohagi, yomogi, sakura bean skewers, and taiyaki, each person choosing their favorite dessert. Watching them made me feel very happy.

On my way back home, I decided to get takeout dinner at Tokyu Food Show, but the first thing I noticed was this shop selling anko (sweet red bean paste) treats. I wandered around for four laps trying to decide on dinner, but there was always a long line. Maybe everyone loves freshly baked dorayaki (sweet pancakes with anko filling)? I ended up buying a dorayaki (anko filling) and a kinako ohagi. The kinako ohagi had more anko than usual, which was made with glutinous rice. I gave away the dorayaki to a flower shop on the way home, so I didn't get to try it. I might go back and buy it again.

Hokkaido has "Sazae Shokuhin Co., Ltd." while everywhere else has "Sazae Shokuhin Co., Ltd.", with its headquarters in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture. I didn't realize it was a subsidiary of Ishiya Seika. Before transferring from the Hanzomon Line to the Inokashira Line, I took a little walk around Shibuya, which I haven't visited in a while. I always thought "Sazae" was only in Hokkaido, so I thought it was being sold there on a business trip, but that wasn't the case. The cream ones are cheaper. But, I still prefer the "tsubuan" (chunky red bean paste) ones here. I like the moist and chewy skin. The red bean paste is also sweet and flavorful. These kinds of snacks always make me feel at ease.

Hokkaido, mainly for those living near Sapporo, "Sazae" is a super popular shop, almost as famous as "ohagi". This time, I visited a shop affiliated with them in Shibuya and bought my first ohagi and dorayaki (red bean paste). The ohagi is a bit on the sweet side, but still delicious. The dorayaki is a good thickness and easy to eat. Whenever I happen to be in Shibuya, I want to buy them as souvenirs for myself and others.

Today, I revisited this shop located in a food show near Shibuya Station. It was my first visit after the food show renovation, and I was glad that the shop was still there. This time, I bought some dorayaki with Tokachi red bean paste, both for myself and as a souvenir. The dorayaki had a nice thickness and was filled with plenty of red bean paste. It was not too sweet, so I ended up eating two of them in no time. This chain of shops is known as the one representing "Sazae-san" in Hokkaido. Truly impressive.

Located in the basement of Shibuya Station, inside Tokyu Food Show. The dorayaki filled with sweet and moist red bean paste from Tokachi was delicious. It is reasonably priced and perfect for when you're feeling a little hungry. It is easily accessible when using subway lines such as the Tokyu Line and Tokyo Metro. This shop originally started in Hokkaido and uses carefully selected ingredients such as Tokachi red bean paste. They have multiple stores nationwide, with several located along the Tokyu Line in the Kanto region. I visited around 7 pm on a Sunday and there were 2-3 groups in line. They had a wide variety of ohagi and dorayaki, which I believe are their signature dishes. I ordered the dorayaki with soy milk red bean paste (141 yen). The dorayaki was warm and you could feel the weight of the red bean paste. It had a good amount of red bean paste and soy milk cream, giving it a satisfying texture. The red bean paste was moist and sweet, very delicious. The soy milk cream was a unique touch and perfect for soy milk lovers. I also had a bite of the Danish-style taiyaki my husband ordered (216 yen), which was crispy and tasty, with white bean paste inside. I would definitely stop by again when I'm feeling a little hungry.

Located in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, on Dogenzaka Street, this is a specialty shop for "obanyaki" (large pancake filled with sweet red bean paste or cream) that opened in July at Shibuya Tokyu Food Show "Shibuchika". The business is run by "Sazae Food Co., Ltd." based in Chuo-ku, Sapporo. The obanyaki here is delicious! I bought it as a snack. This is my first time purchasing from Sazae. The shop seems to be mainly located in Hokkaido. Today's order: Sweet red bean paste for 130 yen, Cream for 118 yen. The sweet red bean paste made with Tokachi red beans and the mildly sweet cream are satisfying with their substantial weight. Personally, I usually call this type of snack "imagawayaki". #Obanyaki #Imagawayaki #Taiyaki #Dorayaki #Oyaki #Sweets #ShibuyaTokyuFoodShow #Shibuchika #Takeout #Affordable #JapaneseSweets #Wagashi #Shibuya's transformation

★I visited on a weekday afternoon★There was one group ahead of me waiting★I had the matcha red bean imagawayaki and zunda dango. As always, the imagawayaki was large and delicious. The matcha and red bean combination was great. The zunda was also tasty. The dango was different from regular dango, with a higher stickiness that made it a bit sticky to the teeth. I wish it had a bit less sweetness.★In terms of service, it felt like the staff were rushing the customers, even though there were no other customers waiting. Let the customers take their time to decide what to buy!★The total cost for two items was 270 yen, which is reasonable. ★Whenever I see Sazae Shokuhin, I usually end up buying something. I will continue to come back, so I give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars!
