Had lunch at the Taiwanese restaurant "Taiwan Madam" in Tsuruhashi. It is located near the shopping street in Tsuruhashi, but the location is a bit hard to find. There were no lunch menus or open signs in front of the restaurant, making it a bit intimidating to enter. I had heard that they only serve lunch on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, so I decided to go in. The staff welcomed me warmly. The interior of the restaurant is simple yet stylish and clean, which I liked. The lunch set costs 1300 yen. You can choose from 6 side dishes and either mapo tofu or lu rou fan as the main dish. First, I tried the 6 side dishes. They were simple but delicious, not too strong in flavor. The bamboo shoots were from the Madam's hometown and had an authentic taste that would appeal to Japanese people as well. Personally, I really liked the steamed chicken. One thing I thought was that if you're going to eat these side dishes, you would want rice from the start because they go well together. Then, the lu rou fan arrived. It was tasty and had a gentle flavor. They also provided five-spice powder separately, which I preferred to sprinkle on top. However, it's great that even people who don't like spicy food can enjoy it. Next, I tried the mapo tofu. It wasn't very spicy but had a good umami flavor with a nice level of numbing sensation. The soup was also delicious and satisfying. The dessert, tofu pudding, was 200 yen and was a refreshing way to end the meal. I heard that the night menu is limited, but the pan-fried dumplings are recommended, so I definitely want to go back. They offer a special course of local Taiwanese dishes starting from 4000 yen for a private party of 6 or more, including Taiwanese tea. The service was polite and overall, it was a great restaurant. While Taiwanese cuisine may not be a go-to choice in Tsuruhashi, I highly recommend this place.

The small-sized dumplings were crispy and delicious. The spiciness of the mapo tofu can be adjusted, but I asked for the original level of spiciness. It was just the right amount of heat for me. The mapo tofu had a flavorful taste with various spices like doubanjiang, not just spicy but also rich in flavor. The douhua was served with a ginger-infused syrup, which I personally loved. It felt like a taste from the madam's hometown. I would be happy if they expanded their menu in the future. It was really delicious. The madam and the chef were both wonderful people!

The place is very clean, simple, and cozy, and above all, almost free of artificial seasonings. Wonderful! The kind madam and the chef are very friendly and welcoming. The food is also carefully prepared to suit Japanese tastes, and I am very satisfied. They are planning to start serving lunch from July, which I am very much looking forward to. The location may be a bit hard to find, but if you get lost, just contact the restaurant and they will give you clear directions. I can't wait to visit again soon.

The beautiful interior, friendly host and hostess, and the slightly sweet Taiwanese beer were welcoming. The gyoza was small but delicious, with thin and crispy skin and juicy meat filling. The boiled dumplings had a chewy texture that was also homemade and delicious. The beer kept flowing and flowing.

The service provided by the couple was excellent, and the gyoza had thin and delicious skin. The yakisoba and other dishes were also tasty and reasonably priced. I made a reservation for next time as well. Highly recommended.
