Around 6 pm on Sunday, there were no customers at first. But then more and more people started coming in. This was my third visit, but it was my first time ordering the soup-less tantanmen (¥950). I was really hungry so I also got the fried chicken rice set. When the dish arrived, I was a bit surprised to see that it looked like there was soup, but as I mixed the noodles, they soaked it all up quickly! The rich sesame sauce and plenty of minced meat were delicious. Definitely needed some white rice to go with it. However, it was so rich that it became a bit overwhelming after a while… As it cooled down, lifting the noodles became really heavy (lol). I wish there were a bit more green onions. The pickled mustard greens were a great touch. I ordered it with normal spiciness, but I couldn't really taste any heat, so I added a lot of chili and chili oil from the table condiments for some extra flavor towards the end. I still prefer the soup version. The fried chicken had a great marinade and was incredibly tasty. Next time, I'll try ordering the cold version. Thank you for the meal.

I tried the cold tantan noodles at a restaurant that has a subtle sesame flavor and is easy to eat. Even when adding chili oil, it goes well! Depending on the type of soup, the noodles also vary, and I was able to have a satisfying lunch.

After drinking, I felt like having some ramen as a finishing touch, so I searched for open restaurants. Hua-san was still open, so I decided to visit. Hua-san is a popular shop known for its tantanmen. I also like tantanmen, so I had it at Hua-san for the first time in a while. The rich soup with a strong sesame flavor and the noodles were well coated, making it very delicious. It was the perfect way to finish the meal. Thank you for the meal.

Tan Tan Men YEBISU. A popular specialty shop for Tan Tan Men located about a 5-6 minute walk from Yamashina Station. It seems there are about 3 stores in Kyoto city. The customer base seems to be mostly women. I like Tan Tan Men, but for some reason today I ended up ordering the "Soupless Tan Tan Men." It had a very rich flavor and my chest felt a bit burning. My companion had the Tan Tan Men and said it was the best here. Soupless Tan Tan Men 950 yen.

I visited the restaurant because I like the sesame-based tantan noodles. The staff were energetic and wonderful. The portion was just right for me, but it might be a little small for men. I ended up adding rice and finishing all the soup.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Yamashina Station, this is a specialty shop for tantanmen (spicy sesame noodle soup). I visited on a weekday evening. The layout consists of a counter with 6 seats at the entrance, and table seats in the back. It was bustling with customers. I ordered the tantanmen regular (¥800 including tax) at the counter seat. You can choose the level of spiciness from mild to 10 times spicier. It arrived in about 5 minutes. The thin noodles were cooked just right, slightly firm, which I liked. It was generously topped with minced meat, and the sweet onions matched well with the soup. Each seat has a perforated ladle, allowing you to enjoy all the ingredients without leaving any behind. You can also add extras such as soft-boiled egg, cheese, or chashu for an additional charge, so you can create your own original tantanmen, including the level of spiciness.

I visited the restaurant right when it opened on Sunday night. I was the first one there, but slowly more people arrived. I ordered the soupless tantanmen extra spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all... I should have paid extra for more spice. However, the flavor was rich and satisfying, and it was delicious. Personally, I don't think the pickled vegetables went that well with the tantanmen.

On this day, I participated in an event at Muji Yamaoka and before that, I had lunch at Tantanmen Goro near Ract Yamaoka. It was lunchtime but luckily we were able to get in easily. The tantanmen was not very spicy but had a generous amount of sesame seeds, making it truly a sesame soup. It was incredibly delicious, even though I usually avoid drinking ramen soup. I ended up finishing the whole bowl. The "Gu" in the restaurant name must be because they really focus on sesame. The fried chicken I ordered as a set was also excellent. From now on, I will choose this place for lunch in Yamaoka.

After drinking, if the timing is right, I stop by this shop. I had the app installed and there was a birthday coupon, so I visited. Surprisingly, if you order anything from the regular menu, you get one drink for free. I ordered the spicy tan-tan noodles with meat. It was consistently delicious, and I finished it in no time. It seems that the app will be ending at the end of this month and transitioning to LINE.

Hello, this is 4Nyokki. I've been to most of the ramen shops near the station, but I never got around to visiting this one because it's closed on Tuesdays, and I always seemed to pass by when it was closed. Another reason was that I wasn't sure if dan dan noodles counted as ramen or not, so I kind of avoided it. However, I decided to finally visit today to fill out my mental ramen map. The shop is located on the north side of Yodobashi, and it's quite long. I was unsure of what to order from the menu, but I ended up going with the recommended dan dan noodles with extra meat. I arrived around 11:30 am, and there were no customers at first, but a couple and a solo diner came in later. The dish arrived as expected. First, the soup. It was delicious, a creamy dan dan noodle soup with little spiciness. The flavor would probably be even better with a bit more heat. The noodles were tasty when eaten with the soup. The pork slices were a bit cold but tender and perfect when eaten with the ramen. I noticed there was minced meat in the dish as I ate, so I used the ladle to scoop it up along with the soup, and ended up finishing almost all of it. I'm not sure how it is since the shop moved, but I remember there used to be a dan dan noodle shop that I loved. The dan dan noodles there were amazing, and I also recall the delicious lettuce fried rice. Is dan dan noodles always this good when eaten at a restaurant? I wouldn't say it was mind-blowingly good, but it was tasty. I'm glad I went today as it's resolved my dan dan noodle dilemma for a while.

I found this place by searching for a place that is open after 10 pm in Yamashina, Kyoto, as my work in Shiga ran late. The customers here seem to be mostly single men, probably bachelors or those on business trips. There are two male and two female staff members working. I started off with a draft beer, and for my meal, I chose a set menu that goes well with beer. I opted for the unique Ma-La Tantanmen with a side of 3 pieces of fried chicken. The fried chicken came with a choice of 4 different sauces, and I went with the normal one. The dish was topped with bok choy, two chili peppers, and chopped green onions. The noodles were thin and straight, and the spiciness of the Tantanmen was not too strong for me, as I later found out that the spiciness level can be adjusted when ordering. I would like to try a different type of Tantanmen at their Yencho or Kyoto Station branch next time.

Near Sanjo Station, there is a tan-tan noodle restaurant that my daughter loves! We went there after a long time. We had the tan-tan noodles with meat topping, spicy level set to large, cheese tan-tan noodles, and the regular tan-tan noodles. Even the large spicy level wasn't that spicy. Next time, I'll try a spicier tan-tan noodle. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal! ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

Since last night, my body had been fasting, and I was craving sesame that permeated my body. Still feeling a bit anesthetized, I came to the restaurant. Since it was a weekday, I ordered the weekday lunch set. I had the special meat-filled tantan noodles (large) for 1100 yen and the mini rice bowl set (the rumored mapo rice) for 220 yen. The half-sized area of the bowl with the chashu laid out looked appetizing. The noodles were as delicious as ever, but I think I made a mistake in choosing the mapo rice. As a junk food lover, I realized that I really wanted white rice. As I continued to eat the mapo rice, I kept thinking that. Next time, I'll finish it with white rice! Thank you for the meal.

The tantan noodles at Yama Science are really delicious with a wide variety of menu options. I have tried the cheese, classic, and soupless tantan noodles, and all of them were delicious. The Yama Science branch is just a few minutes walk from Kyoto Yama Science Station, and there is also a shop within walking distance from Kyoto Station, which is a hidden gem. The cheese tantan noodles are very rich and creamy with a thick cheese soup that stretches. It is a popular dish among women.

The noodles are always delicious and have a unique taste that makes you crave them regularly. The flavor is smooth yet distinct, never getting dull until the last bite. The side menu's fried chicken is always piping hot and freshly fried, and it's great that you can choose your own sauce. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lively, and although there may be a wait sometimes, it's worth it to enjoy the tantan noodles.

Located a 7-minute walk from JR Yamashina Station, this restaurant does not have a parking lot. Visited with friends on a weekend night and found it to be quite popular, with almost all tables occupied. The entrance to the restaurant is a bit hard to find, but once inside, the space is decently sized. We were seated at the only available table. I was intrigued by the description of the "唯一無二" (unique) dish, so I ordered the medium-sized Ankake Tantanmen for 900 yen including tax. The taste was fantastic. The creamy sauce on top, which was not like a starchy flavor, perfectly melded with the creamy soup. There was also an egg on top. The noodles picked up all the flavors well. Absolutely delicious! Even the regular size portion was quite filling. I also tried a piece of the friend chicken that my friend ordered, and it was crispy and tasty. I definitely need to come back here!

I always feel like going to this restaurant regularly. It's always crowded at lunchtime. If you go a little later, you can avoid the line. I'm grateful that they serve lunch until 3:00. They have a wide variety of menu options, but I love the tantanmen so much that I always end up ordering it. I also love the set with fried chicken. I recommend trying it with the special sauce.

[Charred Miso Tantan Tsukemen]
[Noodles] Thick straight noodles (served cold)
[Toppings] Beef tripe, eggplant, chopped green onions, shredded red chili, white sesame seeds
[Soup] Charred miso tantan
[Preparation Time] 11 minutes
The noodles looked like thick straight noodles, but they were a bit disappointing when eaten. I wish they had used cold tantan noodles instead... The dipping sauce had a subtle bonito flavor and was slightly spicy. It also had a small amount of ground meat. The rich dipping sauce had a delicious taste, but the charred flavor wasn't very noticeable... The eggplant was stir-fried and soft, while the tripe was seasoned and could be eaten as is. It was lightly seared, but the charred flavor was almost non-existent. Personally, I prefer the rich dipping sauce, but without the domestic beef tripe, would it be better in terms of cost-performance? Overall, it's a mix of good and average.
