This time, I went to Maido Ookini Kitakyuhoji Shokudo. This is a reliable restaurant by Fuji Food System where you can choose the side dishes you want and create your own set meal. This time, I chose grilled mackerel with salt, kinpira burdock, mentaiko, miso soup, and seasonal limited bean rice for my set meal. The taste was as reliable as always, very comforting. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this restaurant in the same chain after a long time. I personally like the system where you can add as much green onion as you like. I picked out what caught my eye and ended up with a bill of 1700 yen, so I don't think the cost performance is that great. This tamagoyaki (rolled omelette) was nostalgic. This home-style tamagoyaki was the best.

Wandering around in search of dinner, I ended up at a nationwide chain restaurant called "Maido Ookini Shokudo" with the local address in its name. I always end up ordering too much, which can add up to quite a sum, so I tried to be careful this time and settled for a 870 yen set meal. The tonkatsu was freshly fried and although it tasted like it was made from commercial frozen food, it was decently tasty. The marinated horse mackerel was a hit. I hadn't had it in a while, so I quickly finished it. I also added some spinach because I wanted some vegetables. The miso soup mainly had fried tofu in it, but it had a good amount of ingredients. I've been eating alone for four years now, and I've started to enjoy it in my own way. But it's still lonely, isn't it? Today's meal was delicious as well. Thank you for the meal.

I occasionally visit this town to do some shopping. It's convenient and quick to enjoy. I had dashimaki tamago, simmered mackerel in miso, fried pond smelt, fried eggplant, and pickled fish without rice. I pair it with low-carb sparkling sake since the flavors are rich. I quickly finish the sparkling sake because of the strong flavors. I really enjoyed the pickled fish. Thank you for the meal! (﹡ˆ︶ˆ﹡)♬*

This restaurant is closer to a real diner, with its atmosphere and all. It's a chain restaurant, so I think they probably use the same ingredients and seasonings, but there are still slight differences between each location. The way they cook the food, for example, might be a bit different. This place somehow feels like an old-fashioned diner. I ordered rice and miso soup, and the pork and eggplant ginger stew was delicious. The rice here is pretty good too, in its own way. It used to be even tastier, I feel. I also had a healthy lunch with simmered hijiki seaweed and mackerel. I'm satisfied, thanks for the meal.

On Sunday, I went to the wholesale district to help my wife carry her shopping bags. We stopped by Maido Ookini Shokudo, a dining spot known for its set meals, at the North Kyuhoji Temple. You can find this place in various locations. It's located south of Sakaisuji Hommachi intersection on the right side. They take pride in serving freshly cooked rice and freshly made tamagoyaki every day. You can also order bento boxes over the phone, which is convenient. Inside the restaurant, there is a counter where you can choose various side dishes and then order rice and miso soup before paying and taking a seat. They offer a wide variety of dishes such as grilled fish, simmered fish, fried foods, hamburg steak, stewed dishes, and salads. I forgot to order the tamagoyaki until after I had paid. The dishes I tried were beef sukiyaki for 300 yen, horse mackerel nanbanzuke for 200 yen (which was delicious), cold tofu for 110 yen, pork miso soup, and rice. It's a great place to eat because you can choose your favorite dishes. Just make sure to imagine your main and side dishes before picking up your tray, or you might end up with only side dishes and no main dish. I also noticed they have eel set meals, so I'll try that next time. Thank you for the delicious meal!

It's been a long time since I last visited this place, but I decided to have a light meal here since I have plans for a proper dinner later. Even though the rice portion is small, the volume is quite satisfying. The pickled plum has a taste and aroma like plum gum, but I don't dislike it. The daikon radish and fish cakes in the oden were decent in taste. They let you serve yourself, so I had to carefully choose a plate to avoid spilling the broth. Adding some green onions was the right choice as it enhanced the flavor. I tried to keep it under 400 yen, but the total bill ended up nearing 500 yen. I want to mention that they sell individual servings of mentaiko at a reasonable price.

I went to a teishoku restaurant along Sakaisuji. This place is part of a well-known food and beverage group, and there are other branches along Sakaisuji as well, like Kitakyuhozanji Shokudo, which uses the name of the local area. When I entered, I noticed that it might be a one-person operation, as the staff seemed to be handling everything on their own. My impression was that this place served homemade, hot teishoku meals, but in reality, it was more like reheated side dishes that you can find in a supermarket. The only thing that felt freshly made was the tamagoyaki. The rest seemed like pre-made items. The tamagoyaki was decent, while the hijiki simmered dish was average, with a slightly sweet taste. The nikujaga, when heated in the microwave, turned out to be extremely hot, making it difficult to carry to my seat without gloves. I chose the 5-grain rice, but it wasn't much different from white rice. This restaurant didn't give me a welcoming vibe in my previous attempts to visit, but this time, during the Golden Time, they were more welcoming. The total cost was 748 yen, as each item is priced separately. I didn't order miso soup as it would have increased the cost further. Overall, I didn't feel like I got a great deal for the price. I noticed that this group seems to be renovating and reopening some of their branches, so I wonder if this one will be next.

Sakaisuji Hommachi ◇ Cafeteria ◇ [2-chome Kitakyuhojimachi, Chuo-ku] Located southwest of Kitakyuhojimachi Street, two signals south of the intersection of Chuo Odori and Sakaisuji Street. Unexpectedly, work extended before noon on a weekday, so I ended up having lunch at this cafeteria-like restaurant. I had no choice but to eat quickly as I had work to do. I ordered Tamagoyaki, Fried Horse Mackerel, Nikujaga, Miso Soup, and a small bowl of rice. I poured water, picked up chopsticks, poured sauce, and said "Itadakimasu." After finishing the meal, I returned the tray to the designated area. Thank you for the meal.

On this visit, I was able to choose my favorite food, and this time the main dish was meatballs! You can pick side dishes from the shelves, but the rice and soup are served by the staff. You can choose from large, medium, or small rice portions, and miso soup or pork soup.

Today at lunch, Ms. S mentioned that there was a sign in front of Hokkyuhoji Shokudo advertising beer for 180 yen. Excited, we decided to go there right away. Hokkyuhoji Shokudo is a place where you can choose your favorite side dishes and pay at the end. First, you pick items like egg rolls with green onions or pickled ginger. The staff then cooks it for you. They also had fried chicken, but they kindly informed us that they would be frying it fresh. The cold tofu was only 100 yen and healthy. The menchi katsu was quite large and you can heat it up in the microwave provided inside the restaurant. They also offer grilled fish, fried dishes, and a variety of side dishes. The beer comes in a small glass, but at 180 yen, it's a good deal. If they continue to offer beer at this price, it would be a great place to stop by for a quick drink. Thank you for the meal!

Maidoookini Shokudo is a valuable place where you can have a regular set meal outside of lunch hours. However, with the recent increase in tax rates, the cost performance of this restaurant seems to be deteriorating. Many of the staff members at Maidoookini Shokudo are elderly and appear a bit tired. The variety of dishes is also lacking, which is a bit disappointing.

I happened to pass by and saw a poster advertising draft beer for 180 yen! Unbelievable! The poster had "Sapporo Beer" written on it, and in that moment, it shook my exhausted brain from work. Before I knew it, I found myself inside the store with a tray in hand. This place is a familiar spot where I have often had lunch. I always find it convenient when I'm unsure of where to eat. Just like lunch, you first choose your side dishes. They had fried horse mackerel for just 100 yen! You could have fried horse mackerel and beer for about 300 yen! But being the gentleman that I am, I opted for the slightly pricier salted mackerel. I also picked up some cold tofu to go with it. After placing the side dishes on the tray, I went to pay and ordered the beer. The beer was a bit small, but it was delicious. I enjoyed my beer while watching TV, adding another one for a total of 798 yen! That's the price of lunch! Feeling content, I decided to head to the next restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

I often eat out for work, and it's difficult to find a place where I can have a meal without drinking alcohol. However, I discovered a restaurant in Hokuboji-cho that serves white rice dishes. The restaurant had seasonal dishes like oyster fry, which caught my attention. Inside, there was a TV and a self-service area with a microwave. I didn't find oyster fry on the menu, but they offered freshly fried dishes. I ended up having grilled mackerel with grated radish and miso soup. It was a nice change of pace for a meal.

I think this restaurant is perfect for people living alone. When I suddenly crave Japanese food, I go to this cafeteria. If you choose several side dishes, the total cost might be a bit higher than regular set meals around here... Also, be aware that sometimes there are very few options for side dishes depending on the time of day. Maido Ookini Shokudo is a cafeteria that you can find in various places, but the self-service style where you can eat freely is great. It seems like they prepare freshly made tamagoyaki on the spot.

Today's lunch was at the cafeteria chain "Kitakyuhoji Shokudo." It is a branch of the "Shokudo" chain found all over Japan. It's not a place I usually go to. The system is simple - you pick your food items on a tray, then pay at the register. It's like the old-fashioned "ichizen-ya" style. I had chicken nanban, fried eggplant, potato salad, white rice, and miso soup for about 750 yen. It may seem a bit pricey for a self-service style restaurant. The chicken nanban wasn't as tasty as I expected, with lots of gristle in the chicken. The dressing was more mayonnaise-based than sweet vinegar. Maybe I should have heated it in the microwave first. This chain seems to attract mainly elderly customers, not many stylish office ladies.

The new store strategy of "Maido Ookini Shokudo" is amazing. If used wisely, you can keep the price within reason and it's quite convenient. Self-service picking. At first, you may make mistakes like taking too many plates and end up spending over 1,000 yen. This time, after a long time, I grabbed a tray and started the flow. Tamagoyaki 158 yen → Okra 105 yen → Rice at the counter 126 yen + Pork miso soup 189 yen Total 578 yen - I was aiming for under 500 yen, but the pork miso soup exceeded my expectations. This time, it was a selection mistake (*). If I had chosen miso soup for 84 yen instead of pork miso soup... Total 473 yen - I definitely want to establish a one-coin lunch properly! Even though I think next time I will definitely stick to one-coin... I'm scared that I might repeat the same mistake of getting tempted by delicious items and going over budget. The tamagoyaki was hot and fluffy. It was delicious when I put it on rice and drizzled some soy sauce. The pork miso soup was full of ingredients. As a lunch, I was satisfied and content (^.^) Next time, it's a price battle... I have to go with a strategy in mind ☆

Self-service type cafeteria. I like that there's no waiting time since you serve yourself. I personally enjoy the excitement of choosing my own food. My favorite menu items are beef sukiyaki, chicken nanban, stir-fried bean sprouts, dried fish and egg omelette, and miso soup! I think it's best to prepare a lot of dishes. Well, all of them have a comforting taste and there are not many things that aren't delicious. Serve yourself, get rice and miso soup or miso soup at the register. If you try to balance your side dishes and get a small dish of simmered hijiki... you easily end up spending over 1000 yen. It's a casual cafeteria, but I actually think it's a little luxurious. After all, it's more expensive than a cafe pasta lunch! It's perfect for when you're in the mood for Japanese food.
