During a business trip to Kyoto, I stayed in a new area instead of my usual spot. I had the boiled fish with burdock and seaweed, which was delicious. It seemed like the restaurant owner had a lot of passion for their food. I had a great time drinking there. I will definitely visit again when I stay nearby.

Tenjo was delicious! It's not cheap, but the food is really good. The wait time is long, but the portions are generous, so be prepared. The sashimi platter is a must if you come with 2-3 people and want to try a variety of dishes. It's a popular spot, so it's recommended to call from Kyoto Station before heading there. We ordered two draft beers for 500 yen each, and the shellfish appetizer was delicious. The sashimi platter included uni, squid, amberjack, octopus, shrimp, and fatty amberjack, all of which were excellent. The grilled chicken neck was tasty but came in a large portion, making it difficult to finish. The grilled eel was well-cooked, with crispy skin and tender meat, almost a whole piece of eel. The bill came to 7700 yen, with the details a bit unclear, but after asking about the prices of the chicken neck and eel, it seemed a bit pricey. They only offer cold and hot sake, so we skipped that. Other dishes that caught our eye were the large shrimp tempura, herring roe, beef tataki, mackerel sushi, crab meat, fish noodles, fried horse mackerel, and fried oysters. If we have the chance, we would like to try them next time. We left at 19:15 with time to spare before catching the 20:10 Shinkansen back to Kyoto Station. If anyone knows the price of the appetizer, please share. Tenjo: 075-661-4090, 49-4 Higashi Kujo Minamikawabecho, Minami Ward, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture.

I really like this izakaya. It has a high quality and wide variety of menu options, so I always have a hard time deciding. I love the eel dish there. They offer both hearty dishes and home-style cooking, so I can enjoy any kind of food. It's nice to just drop by whenever. However, it's always crowded so sometimes I can't get a seat. The staff are all friendly. It's a favorite spot of mine.

It's unusual for it to be full even on a regular day. Customers without reservations are turned away. The majority of customers are locals. They offer a variety of oden. Sashimi platter for 1650 yen. Includes Thai, striped jack, yellowtail, squid, sea urchin, octopus, tuna belly, and shrimp. Kumo-ko (spider fish). Grilled salted chicken tenderloin. All the sashimi was delicious. It's not cheap.

The restaurant was close to the hotel, so I decided to drop by. Despite it being the beginning of the week, it was bustling with regular customers. Everyone seemed to be having a good time chatting with the staff. The assorted sashimi, steamed clams with sake, eel rice bowl, and miso soup with clams were all delicious and satisfying. If I lived nearby, I would definitely become a regular customer.

This is a restaurant I wanted to visit when I came around here. It can be crowded at times, but luckily I managed to get a seat as soon as I visited. The menu was focused on Japanese cuisine today. I remembered the appetizer being clams, and it arrived as expected. I started with chilled tofu while I decided on my order. The chef seemed quite busy, so I opted for sashimi dishes as they would be quicker than grilled items. The octopus was firm and flavorful, although I wished the wasabi and soy sauce were more authentic. I ordered some sake, which only had options for cold or warm. The monkfish liver with ponzu sauce was delicious and came in a generous portion. Just as the next customers arrived, I shifted my seat slightly to make room. I could see the sea urchin in the display case, and it looked tempting. I asked the chef if I could have it as sashimi, and it turned out to be a great choice. The sea urchin was really tasty. While my meal progressed smoothly, the customer who came in right after me focused on grilled dishes and was still waiting for their first dish when I left. It's important to be mindful of the types of dishes you order during busy times at this restaurant. It's all part of the experience, and those who can appreciate it will enjoy dining here.

All of the dishes had generous portions, so I only ate seafood, but everything was delicious! The sashimi was of a high quality. It seems like a restaurant loved by locals. I definitely want to go again.

A shop I had bookmarked for a while. Finally, I visited. I sat at the counter with a beer in hand and ordered various dishes. The appetizers were delicious from the start. Shops with delicious appetizers are often good places. The sashimi of striped jack, beef tataki, grilled eel, and shishamo were all delicious. You can really feel the quality of the ingredients. Despite that, the prices are reasonable for an izakaya. The way they grill the eel is quite good. It's a highly rated shop that lives up to its reputation. There are many regular customers from the local area, but it's not a difficult place to visit. Just be careful of the steep stairs at the entrance. It might be a bit scary to go down if you're too drunk.

I found out that there is a highly rated izakaya in a residential area with ten houses, so I decided to visit. I went upstairs and entered the restaurant. An elderly couple was taking care of the place, and most of the customers were regulars from the neighborhood. It can be said that this izakaya is closely connected to the local community. I looked at the menu written on the wall and ordered a few items. [What I had] - Assorted sashimi - Firefly squid with vinegar miso - Tataki of Wagyu beef - 2 draft beers - Otoshi (appetizer) [Assorted sashimi] A generous assortment of about 10 types of sashimi including squid, tuna, fatty tuna, flounder, sea urchin, button shrimp, salmon, yellowtail, striped jack, and scallop. Is this a single serving!? It's impressive. Oh, I can't resist sashimi lovers. All of them were fresh and delicious. I wish they had a clever junmai sake to go with this. [Firefly squid with vinegar miso] There were 10 firefly squids. They are plump and fresh, with a nice texture. [Tataki of Wagyu beef] Plenty of chopped green onions, garlic, and ginger on top. You can't see the meat underneath at all. Surprisingly, the quality of the meat was good, and it was delicious. There are over 10 slices. All of this for about 5000 yen. If we assume the appetizer is 300 yen, and the firefly squid and Wagyu beef are 800 yen each, the assorted sashimi would be around 2000 yen. With this content in this price range, I can say I am quite satisfied. It was my first visit alone, so I didn't know how filling it would be, but after finishing all this, I was full. It's comparable to places like Naka-Sakae and Kisaichi in terms of volume, or even better. Ordering various dishes with about four people seems like a lot of fun. The elderly couple runs the place, and many customers are regulars, giving it a strong local flavor. As mentioned in other reviews, I did feel a bit out of place, but it didn't feel uncomfortable. If I visit a few more times and get closer with the staff, my impression might change. However, I can't help but wish for at least one "clever junmai sake." This is similar to the fisherman's izakaya "Kisaichi" in front of Kyoto Station. Despite saying that, it can't be helped. This is just the kind of food that makes you want to drink sake.

There is an incredibly delicious izakaya in Jujou, and I visited with some work colleagues. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a snack bar, with a traditional izakaya interior. You write your order on a piece of paper and hand it to the staff. We started with beer and a sashimi platter. The sashimi was fresh, plentiful, and incredibly tasty! We were surprised. Next, we had kushikatsu, which was delicious. Then we tried horse sashimi, which had no gamey taste and was very tasty. We also enjoyed sake and decided to order the grilled eel, which was plump, fragrant, and had a thick, fatty texture. It was so delicious! Although the service was a bit slow due to the small staff handling many customers, I think this is a wonderful izakaya. Amazing.

April 30, 2014, night visit. A gathering of three older ladies. One of them is a regular customer. We arrived early after work, so we sat at the counter even though there were three of us. The tatami room was not suitable for long conversations for the older ladies (laughs). By around 7 pm, the tatami room was full. There were empty seats at the counter, but it seemed like they were reserved. I realized once again that this is a popular local restaurant. We enjoyed the recommended sashimi (very fresh), fried dishes, salad, pickles, etc., all lined up on the small counter. We had a great time chatting with the staff. Each of us had two glasses of draft beer and spent about 2 and a half hours. The bill came to 3100 yen per person. Thank you for the delicious meal. May 15. You wouldn't know about this place at first glance. A local resident and regular customer took me here. I arrived late, and there was a sashimi platter on the table. It had botan shrimp and medium fatty tuna, very fresh (@_@). I couldn't take a picture, which was a shame. There were no descriptions on the menu, so I had to ask what was available. The platter included assorted deep-fried skewers, eggplant with sweet miso, pickles, and simmered head of golden eye snapper. I couldn't handle the "eyes," but the flesh was tender and delicious. The menu was a bit ambiguous, with items that were there and not there. The regular customer said, "It's clearly written on the menu." Um... (^_^; The restaurant was packed with customers. As soon as one left, another came in. Some customers ordered by looking at the menu on the wall, while others just asked for the daily specials. Our table was the liveliest, with more focus on drinks and snacks. The bill came to 5000 yen per person, including three beers each. Good quality at a reasonable price. But next time, I'll come alone or with different companions. I need to be brought by a regular customer again. (*^_^*)

I went to a izakaya called "Muromachi" near Jūjō Station. Inside, it had a typical izakaya atmosphere, with salarymen chatting lively. The counter was filled with regulars and staff having a good time. However, it felt a bit awkward to drink alone. The menu featured typical izakaya dishes, especially with a reputation for seafood. I ordered a ham cutlet followed by a skewer assortment, which came in generous portions. The prices were a bit high, so I wished it was a bit cheaper.

This was a restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. I never had the chance to go, but by chance, I ended up going with some friends for a meal and we went to "Murocho". When we entered the restaurant, there were already regular customers drinking at the counter. The three of us had made a reservation and were guided to a private room in the back. There were about seven 4-person tables in the room. First, we ordered a sashimi platter. When it arrived, we couldn't help but exclaim "Wow" together. It was a luxurious assortment of 10 kinds of sashimi (see photo). The taste was perfect. Delicious. It's no wonder they focus on quality fish. Next, we had steamed clams. Also delicious. Then came the grilled sea bream. The portion was huge and it was cooked perfectly, so it was delicious. Next was horse sashimi. Delicious. It's been a while since I had such tasty horse sashimi. Then we had deep-fried natto. This was also quite tasty. When we ordered it, they said they didn't have it, but when we pointed to the menu on the wall, they said, "Oh, I've never seen that before," which made us smile a bit. Next was the croquette. It was fluffy and delicious. Every dish we ordered was enjoyable. The restaurant only had the owner and a waitress, so it took a bit of time for the food to come out, but that's understandable. Overall, for me, it passed the test and I would like to visit this restaurant again.
