I received this snack here. It's called Osaka Uprico. It's a bite-sized apple pie. It's individually wrapped, so it's easy to eat. It has a delicious apple flavor. The pie is moist. The packaging is cute with a floral design. It's stylish.

I had been curious about the "Toncho" rice cakes made by "Okashi-shi Kinugasa," which my acquaintance from Osaka highly praises. When planning a "Kii Peninsula Railway-related trip," I found out that "Toncho" was being sold here, so I decided to stop by during my trip's first day when transferring at Shin-Osaka Station. It was around 11:30 am on a weekday. The store is located on the 3rd floor of Shin-Osaka Station within the JR conventional line gates, in a corner of "Ekimaru-shin-Osaka." It's close to the Shinkansen transfer gates (refer to the photo). The open store without partitions makes it easy to enter. It's quite spacious, with a convenience store (Seven-Eleven) attached. When I visited, it was bustling with many customers of varying demographics. The shelves, display tables, and refrigerated showcases are filled with various souvenirs, bento boxes, travel goods, and more, mainly focusing on sweets. The "Toncho" I was looking for was on a display table near the register. I bought two pieces (enough for two people) of "Toncho (steamed white)" for 350 yen each (excluding tax). They also provided a hand towel. I enjoyed them around 12:50 pm on the reserved seats of the "Limited Express Kuroshio" heading to Gobo. The "Toncho (steamed white)" is a long, triangular shape wrapped in aluminum foil that resembles bamboo skin. It seems to be steamed glutinous rice mixed with soybeans, salted kelp, and white sesame. Two pieces of umeboshi were included as well. It has a good volume and a chewy texture that gives a satisfying bite. The sweetness of the glutinous rice and the balanced saltiness and umami of the salted kelp complement each other well. The simplicity of the dish adds to its deliciousness. The umeboshi is a perfect palate cleanser. The "Toncho (steamed white)" was quite good, just as my acquaintance praised. I heard there are variations like seven-spice chili pepper flavor and seasonal limited editions of "Toncho" (which were not available here), so I look forward to trying them someday.

There are shops in the Antrema Marche in front of the Shinkansen ticket gates at JR Shin-Osaka Station. I bought Chips & Chips Milk Langue de Chat (10 pieces) and Kobe Pudding Premium Vanilla as souvenirs, including for myself. I tried Chips & Chips Milk Langue de Chat. It's a 5-layer cookie with white chocolate sandwiched between milk cream and milk cookies. A must-try for Langue de Chat lovers who can enjoy the aroma of white chocolate and milk. I also tried Kobe Pudding Premium Vanilla. You can enjoy the creamy vanilla flavor with a sweet and silky smooth texture. This product won the highest gold award at the 2019 Monde Selection. The caramel sauce uses "Bourbon Vanilla," also known as the queen of vanilla, from Madagascar vanilla beans. In addition to Premium Vanilla, they also have Sweet Ripe Strawberry, Kobe Pudding Brulee made by Peko-chan, and Kobe Pudding, among others. Kobe Pudding was first released in 1993 and will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2023. Since it's located near the ticket gates, it's a convenient souvenir shop to visit before boarding the Shinkansen.

The Angel's fluffy cheek naming is cute. It can be stored in the freezer and lasts a long time because you have to thaw it before eating. The omelette has a fluffy and moist texture, with a custard cream inside that is just the right amount of sweetness. I wasn't expecting much, but this is a hit product. It's perfect as a souvenir in the station. A pack of 10 costs 1400 yen before tax. I'll definitely go buy some more!

★Visited on a weekday night★The waiting area was a bit crowded, so I waited in front of the register for a bit. It is recommended for those taking the bullet train to go with plenty of time to buy.★What I received: I tried the popular Osaka senbei (rice crackers). It came in three different flavors, all of which I found to be delicious.★Customer service: I think it was average.★Atmosphere: The shop was crowded and the aisle was a bit narrow, making it difficult to walk around. But this is pretty typical for souvenir shops.★Cleanliness: Despite the crowd, I felt that the shop had a decent level of cleanliness.★Cost performance: I think it was around 500 yen. The cost performance is similar to other souvenir shops.★Allergies: The ingredients are clearly labeled, so people with allergies can feel safe!★Repeat visit: I came here for a business trip, so I wouldn't come back specifically. I cannot evaluate for repeat visits.

On the 3rd floor of Shin-Osaka Station, there is a souvenir shop operated by Seven Eleven. In addition to souvenirs, they also sell travel goods and snacks, making it worth a visit. Recommended items include stick tofu and imitation crab sticks. They are healthy, filling, and delicious.

[2020 Autumn Osaka Trip Extra Edition] For souvenirs, I bought a few things at "Antre Marche Osaka Central Court" in Osaka Station, where they had some items that were not available there, so before boarding the Shinkansen, I also stopped by here at Shin-Osaka Station♪ (No review for the souvenirs bought at Osaka Station as I didn't eat them myself) What I bought here was: ・Yakiton (frozen) from Hourai Honkan I mistakenly bought this instead of 551's yakiton haha. I had checked the expiration date for 551's yakiton beforehand, and I knew that they didn't have frozen ones, only chilled ones, so I did have a moment of "huh?" but I was drunk and tired, so I made a wrong judgment haha. The next morning, I had one. I put it in my beloved steamer and heated it up in the microwave♪ Since it was frozen, the steamed bun part was a bit dry, but the filling was plentiful and not bad at all. It even came with mustard like 551's yakiton (^▽^;) ・Donbei I heard that the dashi in Donbei is different between Kansai and Kanto, so I decided to buy it and try it♪ (I tried to buy it cheaper at a supermarket near my sister's house, but that supermarket closed down, so I ended up buying it here haha) I had it for lunch one day, and indeed, it tasted light? Or rather, I'm more of a red fox udon person, so I haven't really eaten Donbei much haha. Plus, I haven't had cup ramen in the past few years, so I couldn't really tell the difference in taste (;^ω^) According to my husband, it tasted light and he said this one was better! But for me, it was too salty and made me crave rice (laughs) ・Red Ginger Tempura Chips This was a souvenir requested in advance. The bag was bigger than I thought haha (bigger than regular convenience store potato chips). It's a pink-colored potato chip. The taste is definitely red ginger! It has a slight acidity, refreshing, and you can munch on it easily. Both Donbei and Red Ginger Tempura Chips are a bit bulky, but in terms of taste and uniqueness, they make for a perfect souvenir♪ Thank you for the meal!

"Mom! Look at this!" excited son. Lots of cute things. A cookie made of rubber bands, and furikake disguised as magic ink. Various flavors. Limited edition curry was decided. The Yosakoi Shochu from Shimanami Kaido was refreshing with a mild sweetness. Despite hesitating over various options, my son didn't seem to want them that much.

On the way home, I didn't want to move outdoors as much as possible because of the muggy heat. I ended up buying dinner on a whim. I took a shortcut by using the toaster oven and microwave instead of a frying pan or pot, but it still got pretty hot. I couldn't quite achieve the steamed texture for the fried dumplings, so that's something to work on. They were crispy and tasty though. The water dumplings tended to fall apart a bit, so it's better to carefully press the dough when putting them in, but they turned out fine in the microwave. Even though I didn't use oil to cook them, quite a bit of oil came out onto the aluminum foil and in the boiling liquid.

There is a tempura musubi shop in Fukushima. I ate there a few years ago. They probably resumed stocking from last week. I had it for breakfast. It's small and easy to eat. The taste didn't leave a lasting impression. I just snacked on it and before I knew it, it was gone. Tempura musubi is best in Tsu. Nagoya is not so great.

I was exhausted due to various reasons. To give you an idea, think of "insect repellent, fire alarm, fire truck." I bought a hot coffee (Old Beans Blend) for 320 yen including tax from the onboard sales on the Shinkansen. It was served in a Shinkansen-designed cup as a related product. The coffee itself was a limited edition blend for one month. Feeling a bit hungry, I remembered I had bought a snack called "toncho" as a souvenir. The name "toncho" actually comes from a combination of "dragonfly" and "butterfly." It has a friendly ring to it once you understand the meaning. It's a rice cake from a traditional Japanese confectionery called Kinugasa. Since its expiration date was until 10 p.m. on the same day, it wasn't suitable as a souvenir. It was made of glutinous rice with salted kelp and two small pickled plums. It was equivalent to more than two regular rice balls and could serve as a whole lunch meal. Despite its plain appearance, it has many dedicated fans. I planned to eat only the tip and take the rest home, but my lack of self-control led me to finish it all within 10 minutes, leaving only the wrapping paper behind. Although there are limited edition black bean or store-exclusive corn flavors, I personally prefer the toncho with a spicy kick from Sichuan pepper and chili. Unfortunately, only the plain flavor was available that day. For more detailed information about toncho, I recommend checking out this blog. Kinugasa.

I went to Osaka and when asked if it was for "2 nights?", I chuckled and said, "Just 1 night." The person responded, "Oh, so it's like going there just to get tired, huh?" That's right, I did get tired. Private trips are always quick for me, but work trips are also quick. It was a round trip from Memanbetsu Airport to Haneda Airport and then to Itami Airport. I wish there was a direct flight, but it's only until September. After work, I bought souvenirs at Itami Airport, and that was it. While leisurely walking around, I found something interesting - "Jagariko Takoyaki flavor." I like these kinds of things, but my wife, not so much. When I showed it to her, she predictably got excited, saying, "Oh, how interesting!" Yes, it's just interesting. The taste is indeed like takoyaki but with the texture and scent of potatoes, making beer taste even better.

I bought souvenirs in Shin-Osaka. Even though I passed by many times, I had never actually been there before. The atmosphere in Shin-Osaka has become brighter since it became Ekimarche. It's a perfect shop to buy souvenirs before boarding the Shinkansen. They have all kinds of Osaka souvenirs. I bought the luxurious cheese because I wanted to have a cup of Kaki no Tane. I enjoyed it as soon as I got home. The cheese flavor is amazing! The magic powder sprinkled on it has an addictive quality. This is delicious.

This is a JR station store called "Antre Marche" located inside the Shinkansen ticket gates. They have a wide variety of souvenirs neatly displayed, making it a popular choice for last-minute travel souvenirs. One eye-catching item was the "Print Cookies" with 20 pieces, a collaboration between JR West Japan and Sakura Cray-Pas. The packaging resembles the Cray-Pas box from childhood, which is a product of a company based in Osaka. The cookies have prints that look like they were drawn with crayons. Other collaboration products include gummies, jellies, and chocolate sandwiches. Another item worth trying is the "Osaka Crunchy Waffles" with 7 pieces in an elegant pink package, offering a light and crispy texture with a maple flavor. Lastly, the "Rainbow Ramune" by Ajinomoto is a popular and easily accessible version of the elusive Ikoma Seika Honpo's original ramune. These souvenirs are light and convenient for taking back home.

It was a while ago, but when I went on a business trip to Osaka, I bought this as a souvenir. Gran Kalbi, which I bought as a gift, ended up being so delicious on the way back on the Shinkansen that I kept it for myself. I often jump on the Shinkansen, and I find it convenient to buy souvenirs around here. There is also a Seven-Eleven, so it's handy when I get a little hungry. When I have time, I bring my own Yoroi's Nikuman.

A few years ago when I visited Kansai, I was looking for a light snack that was unique and had a taste of Kansai, rather than the typical station bento. I stumbled upon a new type of food that caught my eye. It was a hearty rice ball, which was exactly what I was looking for. Since then, I have been searching for it whenever I have time. Today, I was lucky to arrive at Shin-Osaka station early, so I was able to find it without rushing. It was quietly standing in a corner, away from the souvenir snack promotions. I picked it up and headed to the register. After eating a sandwich I had bought earlier, I still had room for more food. I opened the package and found a soybean rice ball with yukari, kombu, and a small pickled plum. They even provided special chopsticks. The rice ball was chewy and delicious as always. The yukari and kombu condiments were not overpowering, which I find more enjoyable in Kansai cuisine. I was satisfied and full after eating it. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This is a souvenir shop located inside JR Shin-Osaka Station. It is located inside the conventional line ticket gates. There are no large souvenir shops inside the Shinkansen ticket gates, so it's a good idea to stop by here before boarding the Shinkansen. It seems to be managed by Seven-Eleven, as the cash registers and operations are run using Seven-Eleven's know-how. You can use nanaco, but souvenirs are not eligible for points. They mainly sell souvenirs, but there are few items with a strong local flavor from Kansai, with products like "Jagariko Takoyaki Flavor" standing out as Kansai-exclusive flavors of nationally known products. I tried the "Akafuku - 8 pieces (760 yen)" which is something you can only buy here. It seems to be a popular item as there are piles of them on display. Akafuku is a classic souvenir from Ise, but due to its short shelf life of 3 days, you can only buy it around Mie Prefecture. It's not available in the Tokyo area, but you can buy it in Kansai. It's a simple but delicious traditional Japanese sweet. Even though it's not freshly made, the mochi stretches in a mysterious way. The red bean paste has a natural sweetness and melts in your mouth. If you like it, you might end up eating a whole box of 8 pieces by yourself. There are no other souvenir shops as well-equipped as this one inside the Shinkansen ticket gates, so if you're looking to buy souvenirs at Shin-Osaka Station, this is the place to go.

Suddenly went to Osaka souvenir edition This is for the other child who stayed at home. Since they like squid and octopus, I bought some squid senbei that happened to be available. The package design is stylish, which is a plus. The individual packaging also has a stylish feel from the inside out. I got one piece, and although the texture is similar to fried homemade rice cakes, the taste is several levels above. Homemade fried rice cakes tend to be greasy and sticky, but this senbei has just the right squid flavor, a crispy texture, and a non-overpowering taste. I didn't buy it after trying a sample, but I'm satisfied with myself for buying such a good souvenir (^-^)

I had a fun and exciting time in Osaka♪ Although I was told not to go on a sweets shop hopping spree this time (lol), I was too busy having fun to even think about it, so I'm satisfied (^^♪ I'll save the sweets tour for when I have more time♪ There are plenty of souvenirs to choose from, so there's no need to buy anything in Shin-Osaka, but... I couldn't resist stopping by (^^; While waiting for the shinkansen, I wandered into "Entre Marche" shop. I had plans to meet someone soon, so I bought tiramisu instead of pudding for my son and daughter-in-law who love pudding (lol). And I couldn't resist when I saw the words "New Release! Limited Edition!"... I ended up buying four packets of Happy Turn Sour Cream Onion♪ I ate one myself, and as expected, Happy Turn is delicious! This powder is truly magical! (๑ʘ∆ʘ๑) The crispy rice cracker with sour, salty, and sweet flavors, tasting like sour cream, was delicious♪ It's been a while since I last had it... but it's a taste that gets you hooked♪ If I find it again, I might just have to keep some on hand (lol).
