On this day, after visiting the shrine for the New Year's first visit, I went to my parents' house. On the way there, I bought a souvenir. I purchased Red Fuk's new product "Shiro Mochi Kuro Mochi". At my parents' house, my father made tea for me to enjoy with the mochi. The "Kuro Mochi" has a fragrant aroma of black sugar, while the "Shiro Mochi" has a refreshing white bean paste filling. Both are perfect for me as I love black sugar and white bean paste. However, my father and partner didn't seem too impressed and said they prefer the regular Red Fuk mochi. I thought it was delicious and would like to buy it again, but I can't finish it all by myself. I wonder if I'll have another chance to eat it again. Personally, I found it very tasty. I also bought a beer called Lucky Rabbit, inspired by the zodiac sign for the year of the rabbit. The beer from Kiuchi Brewery is to my liking, with a pale ale that has a refreshing aroma and bitterness, making it easy to drink. Since it's the year of the rabbit, I hope to have a leap year! Thank you for the meal.

I purchased "Namasuimono Yūko" (Milky) 4 pieces for 350 yen at the "Omiyage Kaido" Arde Shin-Osaka store while getting some shumai. This new product from Izutsu Hachibashi Honpo, established in 1805, is a collaboration between Randen and Fujiya to commemorate the Arashiyama Electric Railway. It features a gentle milk flavor combined with white bean paste, wrapped in the traditional Izutsu-style soft rice cake. The filling is made of white bean paste mixed with milk, sugar, condensed milk, butter, skim milk, cream, agar, and salt. The creamy white bean paste is enveloped in a soft rice cake, and the taste is indeed milky. The price and quantity are just right for a casual purchase. Although I had some doubts about buying Osaka-style soft rice cakes as souvenirs, the popularity of Peko-chan among women makes this a good choice. I would give it a score of 76 out of 100.

★I came on a weekday night★The waiting area was quite crowded, with a short line in front of the register★I got two boxes of Tsujiri's matcha warabi mochi★Since each box contains four pieces, I also had one myself. It had a nice balance of sweetness and bitterness, and the matcha flavor was just right★The customer service was average★The shop was crowded but clean★In terms of cost performance, it's similar to other souvenir shops, so I think it's average★The packaging clearly lists the ingredients, so people with allergies can feel safe!!!★I'll have to buy it again when I go on my next business trip, so I think I'll definitely go back, so I rate it as ★★★ out of 5 points!!!

I was planning to buy the snack that my child said was delicious at Gift Kiosk Shin-Osaka (inside the Shinkansen ticket gate). After watching a Takarazuka Snow Troupe performance at Umeda Arts Theater, I took the Midosuji Line subway from Nakatsu Station to Shin-Osaka Station, exited the ticket gate, and headed towards the Shinkansen ticket gate when I came across this place. Various Osaka souvenirs were lined up, so I had some extra time and decided to take a look. The item I was looking for was the "Number 1 Bestselling Souvenir" it seems. I purchased the following item (excluding tax): - Octopus Patty, 12 pieces for 600 yen It's a bit bulky, but light, so I bought 6 boxes. They packed it in a large paper bag and also provided small plastic bags for dividing them. I enjoyed them at home with beer. The crispy pastry with a hint of mayonnaise and seaweed is strangely delicious with a sweet and savory taste. I think the popularity lies in the firm texture. I was worried about the 6-piece pack in a plastic bag for 300 yen breaking, but with this hardness, they might make it home safely. I saw them being sold in various shops I passed by later, and it was clear that they were popular. The store here is spacious with many cash registers, and the staff answered questions politely, making shopping a pleasant experience.

A well-established Japanese confectionery shop in Osaka creates a specialty dish made with domestically grown glutinous rice steamed with soybeans, kelp, and small plums, resembling an onigiri rice ball. It has even won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award! I love this dish ❤️ They are also releasing a new limited edition product with black beans during Golden Week. The one with black beans is so delicious ❤️ - Black Bean Toncho: ¥390 - Toncho: ¥350 Location: Omiyage Kaido Arude Shin-Osaka Store, 2F Shin-Osaka Station, 5-16-1 Nishinakajima, Yodogawa-ku, Osaka City, Osaka #OsakaGourmet #ShinOsakaGourmet #ShinOsakaStation #ShinOsakaCentralExit #OmiyageKaidoArude #OmiyageKaido #OsakaSpecialty #JapaneseConfectioneryShop #ShinOsakaStationGourmet #ShinOsakaStationSouvenir #OsakaSouvenir #OsakaGift #OsakaSpecialty #PopularShop #Toncho #BlackBeanToncho #Kinugasa #BlackBeans #NewProduct #GlutinousRice #Ocowa #LimitedEdition #Ikura-chan's Hyogo Prefecture Food Tour

On the last day of my trip to Kyoto on May 22, I visited Osaka. I went to Abeno Harukas, Dotonbori, Meitotei, Hoshino Coffee in Umeda, and Bonkura-ya in Nishinakajima Minamigata before heading to Shin-Osaka to catch the Shinkansen back to Tokyo. With some time to spare, I stopped at a shop near the subway exit to do some last-minute souvenir shopping. I bought the Ise specialty Akafuku (8 pieces for 800 yen including tax), two types of Meiji's Karl (141 yen each), and a bottle of Junmai Ginjo Akishika sake (720ml for 1760 yen) for the JR NO2. The shop had a wide variety of souvenirs, but there was a long line at the checkout. It's better to check the checkout line before making a purchase when you're short on time. ^ - ^

On a certain holiday, I went to Tokyo. Living near Shin-Osaka Station, I had plenty of time to catch the first Shinkansen. I boarded the 6:00 am Nozomi 200 from Osaka with a smile on my face~♪ I immediately grabbed a canned chu-hi! By the way, I plan to have breakfast after arriving in Tokyo. In other words, I was having alcohol before breakfast (^_^;) For a snack, I tried the "Osaka Red Ginger Tempura Persimmon Seed Fry," which I had wanted to try after seeing Mairevi's review. The price was 216 yen. I took a sip of the canned chu-hi and it was time to try it! I had imagined persimmon seeds, but it turned out to be more like a snack. The texture was light and crispy. The taste was a good reproduction of the characteristics of red ginger tempura, such as sourness, spiciness, fragrance, and saltiness. I actually love red ginger tempura ♡︎ It goes well with chu-hi, so I will definitely buy it again! (I bought it again a few days later) I finished it in no time, the chu-hi was also empty. I should have bought more alcohol and snacks (>_<) When I arrive in Tokyo, it's time for breakfast! To be continued...

In October, I went on a food tour in Osaka. I bought a limited-time product called "Gyozu" at "551 Horai" and then went to a station shop to look for a souvenir for my workplace. I always decide on souvenirs in advance when I visit Kyoto, but I always end up choosing randomly in Osaka because I can't think of any specific souvenirs. This time, I bought the cutest cookie called "Tora Cup." The cookie is shaped like a tiger and you can hook its paws on the edge of a cup like coffee. I'm not sure if there is a meaning to hooking it, or what the connection is between this souvenir and Osaka, but the taste of the cookie was delicious. This Osaka food tour was fulfilling, with visits to various shops including shaved ice, takoyaki, and kushikatsu. I also found a shop selling grilled squid towards the end, and realized that I had never tried grilled squid before. I decided to come back to Osaka soon and try grilled squid next time.

Sakura Cray-Pas and JR West Japan collaborated on a cute snack! The appearance is adorable too!! Inside the can are orange gummies in heart shapes, which are also very cute!! The price is ¥480, making it a perfect souvenir. It seems to be a limited release in Western Japan. In addition to Sakura Cray-Pas gummies, there are also chocolate snacks, cookies, and more, making it hard to choose. The Sakura Cray-Pas gummy can be used as a cute interior decoration even after eating the contents. I use it as a small item holder after finishing the gummies. Since it's limited to Western Japan, it's recommended as a souvenir if you find it. ♡

When transferring at Shin-Osaka Station, I took my time to explore the souvenir shops for the first time. I found canned takoyaki, which is a unique concept of turning freshly made takoyaki with dancing bonito flakes into a canned form. Despite the risky scent, I admired the adventurous spirit behind this idea and decided to purchase it. When I opened the can, I found four takoyaki balls soaked in sauce, resembling meatballs at first glance. The sauce's stickiness reminded me of canned meatballs. The scent was slightly sour like Worcestershire sauce. When I pierced it with a toothpick, the takoyaki felt juicy rather than dry, allowing the toothpick to easily penetrate. Due to its juiciness, I switched to using chopsticks, which also effortlessly sliced through the takoyaki. The octopus inside was small and cute but unfortunately turned tough from the retort heating process. As for the overall taste and texture, it was something only the person who ate it would understand. It was completely different from the takoyaki served in the restaurant. It made me realize that almost anything can be canned. The individuals behind this idea must be truly remarkable.

Omiyage Kaido Arude Shin-Osaka Store is a great place to find souvenirs. I found some delicious Mitarashi dango there! I can't resist them. I brought them home and chilled them a bit before enjoying. The anko filling inside was so smooth and delicious. They paired perfectly with hot green tea. It was the best product. In the end, it was a treat for myself (laughs). Thank you for the meal.

I bought a Corocoro Waffle Cube (Chocolate Nut) for 324 yen and brought it home after walking from Nishinakajima-Minamigata to Shin-Osaka. You can easily purchase it even without being inside the Shin-Osaka station. There is a wide variety of souvenirs available, so you won't have trouble finding something to buy. I enjoyed it like a regular snack. The taste was as expected. Visited for souvenirs in early July 2018. Yummy! Yummy!【At the station】 1 item.

Visited here to buy souvenirs for my partner. Many people may not know, but you can purchase some Osaka specialty sweets that are only available at the main store here. This time, I bought the Mitarashi dango from Kihachizushi and the original Osaka Mitarashi dango. It has been 20 years since I last ate Kihachizushi's Mitarashi dango, which I used to eat often. It is limited in quantity and will definitely be sold out by early evening. The original Osaka Mitarashi dango can also be ordered, so I eat it occasionally. It was a feast of Mitarashi dango, but my partner was happily munching away. Next time, I want to buy something different.

Osaka souvenirs are quite tricky to choose. Whenever I go back home, I always struggle to find something that looks good. Famous items like Akafuku seem delicious but don't last long. It seems like Osaka souvenirs tend to lean towards the quirky side. Even though it's Osaka, souvenirs from Kobe or Kyoto seem more appetizing. I decided to try a new product, Osaka squid senbei, which cost 1058 yen for 10 pieces. It's a light and crispy snack with a strong squid flavor. The packaging is cute, but it feels more like a snack. Is it worth 1058 yen? If you know any good Osaka souvenirs that are worth recommending and have a longer shelf life, please let me know.

Located inside Shin-Osaka Station, there is a souvenir shop called Omiyage Kaido Arde Shin-Osaka store. Omigage Kaido is also found in Yamaguchi. It seems to be operated and expanded by JR West Japan. I registered as a new user this time, but I have a question... How do you all handle the registration of stores within train stations like this? Since Tabelog uses a flat map registration, it is not possible to register detailed locations when the store is on the 2nd floor...^^; I had no choice but to register the map as it is for now. I apologize for any inconvenience. Now, this shop, although not very spacious, is packed with Osaka souvenirs. The staff are cheerful and efficient. After some deliberation, I purchased the following items: - Kobe Pudding (4 pieces) for 1,080 yen. It was prominently displayed, even though it's in Shin-Osaka Station, not Kobe. A similar type of pudding that can be stored at room temperature. It tasted similar to a similar product I had from Kyushu before. However, this type of product is generally well-received as a souvenir gift. - Eemonchii (6 pieces) for 650 yen. I received this as a gift before and enjoyed it, so I bought it myself this time. It's a madeleine with black beans, a unique combination that is very delicious. I learned for the first time that it uses domestic wheat, Hokkaido fermented butter, domestic Tango black beans, and rice flour. So, this type of souvenir snack should be even more delicious compared to others. I would like to buy Eemonchii again if I have the chance.

Langue de chat in the shape of flowers. Crispy langue de chat with whipped cream mixed with honey. A popular souvenir that is sure to bring a smile to anyone's face. Although, if we're being picky, it might not scream "Osaka souvenir" even if you buy it in Osaka. If it becomes more well-known in the future, it could become a new Osaka souvenir. I found a limited edition of the famous Akafuku from Ise City, Mie Prefecture at Osaka Station. It's a must-buy item as it tends to sell out quickly. The package contains 8 pieces (4 white mochi, 4 black mochi) for 1,000 yen (tax included). The design of the white and black mochi is inspired by "heaven and earth." The white represents the sky, while the black represents the earth. The red logo of Akafuku on the package symbolizes humanity. The black mochi has a simple black sugar flavor that dates back to the Ho'ei era, while the white mochi has a pure white bean paste flavor created from the Heisei to Reiwa era. I was delighted to try the white and black mochi for the first time. It was satisfying and delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the souvenir street after learning that Ise specialty Akafuku's Shiramochi and Kuromochi were being sold in limited quantities at Shin-Osaka. I found them displayed alongside the regular Akafuku at a souvenir shop on the 2nd floor of Arde Shin-Osaka. I was lucky to purchase the Shiramochi and Kuromochi as there were only a few left that day. Shiramochi and Kuromochi (8 pieces in total - 4 Shiramochi, 4 Kuromochi) cost 1,000 yen including tax. Kuromochi is a simple black sugar-flavored rice cake that has been made since the mid-Edo period until the Meiji era. Shiramochi is a white bean paste rice cake created from the Heisei to Reiwa era. Both the rich sweetness of the black sugar Kuromochi and the elegant sweetness and smoothness of the white bean paste Shiramochi were delicious. It's very appealing to have two types of fillings in one box. Both fillings were very tasty. They would make great gifts and I would like to purchase them for personal use as well. Since white beans are rare, white bean paste made from white kidney beans is often used as a substitute, making the use of white beans in the paste a pleasant surprise. The new product was developed with the hope of bringing a little brightness into people's lives during the dark times of the pandemic. Black symbolizes the birth of something pure and simple, representing the potential for the future, while white symbolizes purity and refinement, warding off evil spirits. The Shiramochi and Kuromochi are meant to be a step towards a brighter future. At the souvenir shop "Omiyage Kaido" on the 2nd floor of Arde Shin-Osaka, there was a long line of people buying souvenirs, but with multiple cash registers, the line moved quickly. Even though there were dozens of people in line, it only took about ten minutes to reach the checkout. The Shiramochi and Kuromochi were prominently displayed alongside Akafuku on the 3rd floor souvenir shop near the Shinkansen ticket gates, so even if they were sold out on the 2nd floor, they might still be available on the 3rd floor.

On March 27, 2023 (Monday), while transferring to the Shinkansen, I found a souvenir shop and decided to stop by. It was very spacious with a great selection of products! They even had brands that you usually only see in department stores. I saw "Godiva!?" and decided to purchase the Crispy Chocolat Sandwich with 6 pieces for 1,296 yen (tax included). It's a Kansai limited edition with an expiration date of May 22, 2023, making it a perfect souvenir. Of course, I also bought some for myself! The box described it as a chocolate cream sandwiched between crispy chocolate waffle dough. When I opened the individually wrapped package, I thought they were smaller than I expected. The chocolate aroma was amazing, typical of Godiva! The crispy texture combined with the not-too-sweet dark chocolate cream was perfect. Personally, I think stacking 3 pieces together enhances the crunchy texture, but since it came in a pack of 6, I enjoyed them one by one. If you're looking for a unique souvenir that stands out, this could be a good choice!

In the past, there were no convenience stores and onigiri was something made at home. Sometimes my mother would buy Tonchou, which was a special treat. Wrapped in bamboo leaves, it looked like a Chinese steamed bun on the outside, but inside was soybeans and salted kelp, with a pickled plum in the middle. It may seem plain now, but it was delicious and nostalgic. Tonchou is not as common these days, but I recently found it on the souvenir street in Shin-Osaka. I tried the black bean version, which was also good, but next time I want to go back to the original that brings back memories. It may be simple, with nothing fancy inside, but it's a hidden gem of Osaka that evokes nostalgia.
