Visited on August 29, 2019 for a business trip to Monbetsu. Stayed at Monbetsu Prince Hotel, which has a restaurant inside. The hotel is clean with hot springs. On this day, two university relay teams were having a training camp at the hotel, so it was fully booked. Other hotels also had various universities staying. Monbetsu seems to be a training ground for relay teams. After soaking in the hot springs, I decided to have dinner at the hotel. I had drunk too much the night before, so I was feeling a bit sluggish. I ordered a sashimi set meal and a highball. While waiting patiently, I watched a Giants game on YouTube. After waiting for 40 minutes, it turned out that my order had not been processed. The staff apologized and offered a complimentary drink. I ended up ordering the same thing again. The sashimi set meal was delicious, and I even asked for a second helping of rice. When I received the bill, it only listed the sashimi set meal, two highballs, and the extra rice. They had given me the extra rice as a service. I felt grateful for the service, even though I had to wait. Thank you for the meal!

I have been using this hotel restaurant for about 10 years now. I discovered it as a place to stay when visiting relatives in Esashi and Kyowa. We always make reservations for 5-6 people and are grateful to be able to dine in a private room. I can't speak for the restaurant ambiance, but when it comes to the food, it all depends on the accommodation plan you choose. In Monbetsu, it's all about the crab! So we always choose plans centered around crab dishes like crab shabu-shabu, crab sashimi, grilled crab, and more. After eating, you'll be so full of crab that you might even say, "No more crab for a while." The crab is so delicious and sweet. I highly recommend trying it at Monbetsu Prince Hotel.

During my trip to Monbetsu, I stayed at the Monbetsu Prince Hotel. The hotel is within walking distance to the city center, and if you're up for it, you can even walk to the drift ice sightseeing boat departure point. The restaurant inside the hotel is called "Kaniya." According to their website, it is a seafood restaurant specializing in crab dishes. I was considering trying the crab, but felt a bit hesitant to eat crab alone (laughs), so I ordered the 1365 yen customizable set meal. The variety of dishes was quite good and the presentation was decent, but in terms of taste, there wasn't anything that stood out. The only dish that was delicious was the "Crab and Watercress Tamagotoji," which had a rich crab flavor (I felt like they might have added crab broth or something). However, I was disappointed that there was a lack of crab meat in the dish (laughs). Perhaps if I had ordered a dish centered around crab, it would have been a different experience, but based on the customizable set meal alone, the restaurant didn't have any outstanding features.
