Famous tempura restaurant "Daikichi" in Sakai. They also have branches in Namba and Umeda, but I visited the one that opened half a year ago in Sakai Higashi for lunch. I had the "Daikichi Lunch" which came with 5 pieces of tempura and a sashimi rice bowl. When the tempura was served, I was surprised by how big they were! The tempura that day included large shrimp, smelt, octopus, snow peas, and lotus root. I enjoyed the fresh tempura with a rich dipping sauce and grated radish. The shrimp had a firm texture and the octopus, a seasonal ingredient, was thick and satisfying. The sashimi rice bowl that day was squid, which was also fresh and sweet. Squid is a fast-moving creature, so the quality of the ingredient is crucial, and this bowl was clearly delicious. The balance between the tempura oil and the sashimi was just right. And of course, Daikichi is known for their miso soup with clams. Enjoying the essence of the clams and then casually discarding the shells is the Daikichi style. All of this for just 1,000 yen, truly a great deal. Another day of delicious food, thank you!

The seasoning is delicious. However, the shrimp is missing the head and contents, and there are only small white fish similar to kiss and a vegetable that looks like a small pepper or chili. It's convenient to be able to just come in, eat the tempura bowl, and leave without ordering a drink. The miso soup with clams was tasty, so I'll give a slightly higher score.

I had been to this Namba restaurant before and kind of liked it. This time, I tried the recommended lunch, but it was not worth 1000 yen. It had pickled ginger, lotus root, minced meat with cheese, small shrimp, and baby scallops. They tried to make it filling with lotus root and pickled ginger. Maybe I should have gone for the special for just 200 yen more. If this is what they offer, the tempura bowl would have been much better. I don't think I will come back here again.

I used to go to this restaurant a lot when I was a student in Sakai. Sakai is usually known for its nightlife, but this restaurant is bustling from lunchtime. It's near my workplace so I go there occasionally. The freshly fried tempura at this price is very satisfying. I will definitely come back again.

This is a tempura restaurant in Sakai City. It was lunchtime, but luckily there was no wait and I was seated at the counter right away. I noticed some shells on the floor when I sat down. Oh, this is that place where you can throw your shells on the floor. The person next to me was eating clam soup. I remembered that this is the place where you can throw your shells on the floor. I came here to eat tempura, so I ordered the small assorted tempura plate for 1300 yen. You order by writing your order on a piece of paper and handing it to the staff. The assorted plate included squid, onion, shrimp, smelt fish, octopus, conger eel, and a minced item. The texture of the octopus was good, the onion was sweet, the shrimp was firm, the smelt fish and conger eel had good flavor, and the squid was just right. The tempura was delicious. Just a reminder, the assorted tempura plate only includes tempura, rice and other items are separate orders with additional charges. The price may be a bit high, but it was worth it. Overall, I enjoyed the tempura here. Bon appétit!

On Sundays at 6:30 PM, despite being late at night, the Sakai Main Store is bustling with customers, while the Namba store is crowded during meal times, but the Gashi Ginza Street branch looks lonely. The Small Fortune set of 7 tempura items costs 1300 yen, simmered beef tripe costs 500 yen, and the Special Tempura Rice Bowl costs 1000 yen. The simmered beef tripe arrived in 2-3 minutes, and it was delicious. The freshly fried tempura ingredients were all tasty - the squid was flavorful, the smelt fish was very delicious, the asparagus was tasty, the shrimp was undeniably delicious, and the mountain yam was crunchy and chewy. The tempura rice bowl, however, was a bit mediocre with a slightly soggy texture. The head-on shrimp was large, but that's about it. The miso soup was average, similar to homemade miso soup. Unlike the original store where they sprinkle clam shells on the floor, the experience was not as impressive. The freshly fried tempura was good, but overall, it was just a typical tempura meal. I will come back again, next time for the assorted tempura set with white rice.

It's been a while since I decided to have tempura at "Tempura Daikichi Sakai Honten", but when I arrived for lunch, the shutter was down! So, I quietly approached and found out that the place was closed. Disappointed, I headed to "Tempura Daikichi Sakai Higashi Store" in the shopping street near Sakaihigashi Station. I was seated at the counter where they offered 4 lunch options: Special Lunch for 1,200 yen, Ladies Lunch for 800 yen, Chef's Recommended Lunch for 1,000 yen, and Tempura Rice Bowl Lunch for 800 yen. I asked if men could order the Ladies Lunch, but unfortunately it was not allowed. The Chef's Recommended Lunch for 1,000 yen looked unappetizing with a sloppy presentation and tempura skewered like kushikatsu. The tempura consisted mostly of meat, with only a few vegetable options. The meatball tempura was not to my liking. The miso soup with clam extract was tasty, but the incomplete sand removal was a bit off-putting. The tempura dipping sauce was sweet, and the tempura itself was not as crispy and hot as expected. The oil quality may have been the issue as I experienced indigestion. The tempura dipping sauce was too sweet, unlike the one at the main store. I tried adding shichimi spice to enhance the flavor, but it was still lacking. I ended up leaving two pieces of tempura uneaten. Overall, the tempura was disappointing and different from the main store. I don't think I'll be visiting again.

People who visit Tempura Daikichi for the first time will be surprised! When you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by seashells on the floor, which is a signature of Daikichi. I don't have the courage to put the seashells under my feet because I go alone, so I just enjoy looking at them. The size of the crispy tempura is impressive and, of course, delicious. The crab stick tempura was surprisingly large! The volume is great, and the clam miso soup is also delicious. I ordered the special lunch, and I was excited to see what kind of rice would come with it. It turned out to be a Tekka Donburi - amazing! It's cheap, delicious, and fantastic. Even though I was full, the beer went down easily, and I felt like my stomach was going to burst. The staff are efficient and the waitstaff are kind, cheerful, and polite. The other staff members are also pleasant, making it a great place to have a value-for-money lunch. I would love to go back in the evening for a quick meal and drinks in a different atmosphere.

Arrived on May 19th (Friday) at 11:10 am. There were 2 guests at first, excluding my wife, and 3 more guests arrived later. We ordered the "Special Lunch" ☆ The tempura consisted of 4 items, including shrimp, imitation crab, green pepper, and shiitake mushroom. It was crispy and paired well with the rich tempura dipping sauce. The imitation crab and green pepper were large in size. Today's rice was topped with whitebait and was delicious with soy sauce and grated wasabi. The miso soup contained clams and green onions. The small side dish included two servings of macaroni salad with mayonnaise. The tempura was quite tasty, but considering the price of 1200 yen, I wished there were more tempura pieces. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I decided to try going to a restaurant in Sakai without a reservation, even though it was late at night. I was able to quickly get a seat at the counter since it had just opened. I started with a glass of draft beer for 550 yen and then ordered various dishes a la carte. The shrimp was plump and fragrant, the squid was fluffy and meaty, and the octopus was firm and bouncy. I also enjoyed a sweet potato shochu on the rocks and crispy white shrimp with cod roe. The fried chicken was tasty, but I wasn't sure what kind of seasoning they used. The miso soup with clams was good, although I felt there were fewer clams than I expected. Overall, the food was delicious, and I had a great time trying different seasonal dishes like tempura. When it comes to Daikichi in Sakai, a tempura restaurant that opens late at night, I didn't have to go all the way to the harbor to enjoy tempura. I ordered the small tempura set with 7 items in Sakai Higashi during the day, and it was quite a lot even for one person. The contents were mostly chef's choice, but I think there were crab, shrimp, pickled ginger, and possibly whale. The tempura here is thick with a delicious batter that is crispy but slightly sweet, making it easy to eat. Daikichi is famous for its miso soup, with shells scattered on the concrete floor as a unique touch. Originally starting as a restaurant for fishermen, the miso soup served in a bowl filled to the brim with a flavorful broth made from shells is delicious. I enjoyed it while avoiding the shells.

Opened only at midnight, the extremely popular restaurant "Tempura Daikichi". I want to go there, but the main store is open from midnight to 9 in the morning. The hurdle is too high. While wandering around looking for a lunch spot in Gashi (Sakai Higashi), I saw this restaurant. I see! The Sakai Higashi store is open during the day! So I happily entered. Fortunately, there was no line. Oh, I can see the shells on the floor that I heard about. I don't understand the system, but it seems that you write your order on paper and hand it over. There is a regular menu on the table. In addition, there is a "today's recommendation". First, I ordered eggplant, lotus root, kiss fish, and clam miso soup. Let's start with this. The eggplant tempura, which I love, is beautifully cut and fried crisply. It's incredibly delicious! I can't help but grin. The lotus root is thick. I think it would be easier to eat if it were a little thinner, but it wouldn't be like this restaurant. The kiss fish is delicious as expected. The small shrimp is not that small. A firm shrimp is bundled together and delicious. The clam miso soup is a specialty here. It's okay to drop the shell on the floor. I tried it, but it feels quite sinful. The taste is good with plenty of clams. Now, I thought about ordering more, but my stomach is starting to feel tight. I ordered conger eel and maitake mushroom tempura. As a finishing touch, I ordered tempura rice tea. The conger eel is delicious! I like maitake mushrooms, so of course it's delicious! The tempura rice tea is bigger than I imagined! There are many menu items whose prices are not clear, so I estimated that the bill would be around 3800 yen, but it was only 2530 yen! I ate tempura to my heart's content and overate without worrying about the price, all for 2530 yen! I'm impressed. It's no wonder it's crowded, this is amazing. I want to try other branches as well. I want to go to the main store even if it's difficult! *By the way, there was a "copycat store" that was a topic of discussion for a while. A store in Kita-Shinchi, Osaka, opened without permission with almost the same signboard, the same store name, and the same system. Upon investigation, it was already resolved through litigation. It seems that the store has closed. There should be no copycat stores now. This is a proper branch.

I visited the famous tempura restaurant Sakai Higashi branch in Sakai. I arrived around 7 pm on a weekday and about 80% of the seats were already taken. The tempura was delicious, and the side dishes were also tasty. It's a very reasonably priced place to enjoy tempura. Thank you for the meal!

I realized that if I had ordered this alone, it would have been too much. The selection was chef's choice, with a focus on seafood and meat that was satisfyingly large and powerful. I think it was around 1 PM for lunch. It was my first time going there. The storefront, which has been featured on TV a lot, had photos displayed. I had been to the Namba branch of the same chain before, but for some reason, I didn't really like it. How about the Sakai Higashi branch? I went there with half expectations. The conclusion was disappointing. The cost performance seemed good, but the staff didn't seem to be enjoying their work. I think the tempura and rice bowl set was a good deal. However, I didn't feel like going there again.

I visited the restaurant "Tempura Daikichi Sakai Higashi Store" for dinner on this day. I had visited for lunch before, but this time I came in the evening. Since it was evening, I could have beer! Tempura with beer is the best combination. The beer was served in a Daikichi original glass, and it was nice and cold. After enjoying tempura and beer, the clam soup was the perfect way to finish the meal and warm up. I was happy when they opened a store in Osaka city, but having one in Sakai Higashi is the best! Tempura Daikichi. In Osaka, everyone knows Daikichi. It's the same as the Sakai branch, with the same old men making it, but the taste may vary depending on the day. I wonder if the taste is the same, but the atmosphere over there makes it taste better for some reason. The price is a bit higher, but with 2000 yen, you'll be full.

Today's lunch was in Sakai City. We went to a tempura restaurant called "Tempura Daikichi Sakaidong Branch" to support a restaurant that is still operating despite the pandemic. This place is a popular tempura restaurant located in Sakai Uoichi Market in Sakai Higashi shopping street. Last time we went (on a Sunday), they had a great lunch menu deal, but now it seems the lunch menu is only available on weekdays. So, we ordered tempura a la carte. We had "oysters," "shirako," "saury," "gaccho," "tempura," "quail eggs," "sweet potatoes," "pumpkin," "minced wiener sausages," "bamboo rings," and more. Instead of the famous "clam miso soup," we opted for "egg miso soup," which we all love. In addition to tempura, we also ordered "burdock tempura" and "soy milk kinako bread." Daikichi's tempura was so delicious!

Long time no see~ I went to Daikichi in Sakai East Ginza shopping street!? Had a quick tempura bowl lunch... ♫ヽ(゜∇゜ヽ)♪ I found a spot at the counter and ordered the tempura bowl right away✧* The bowl had shrimp tempura and green pepper tempura, topped with plenty of chopped green onions and a perfectly sized egg and rice portion. The clam soup was a bit crooked, but it added to the unique atmosphere of Daikichi (laughs). I first enjoyed the clam soup, then the crunchy shrimp tempura, and finally the flavorful egg and rice. The rotation between the soup, shrimp tempura, and egg and rice was just perfect!! Having a beer while enjoying a la carte tempura or Daikichi lunch is great, but for a lunch break during work, this size is just right... I recommend "Tempura Daikichi Sakai Higashi Shop" on the west side of the shopping street. Enjoy your meal!
