The restaurant specializes in crispy chicken skin that is cooked for 6 days to achieve the perfect crunchiness. When you sit down, you are asked about your drink order and how many pieces of chicken skin you want. The chicken skin is a must-order item. It is served crispy with just the right amount of oil, making it the perfect accompaniment to beer. Each serving comes with sliced cabbage to help balance out the richness of the chicken skin. The original vinegar sauce adds a refreshing touch. You can also order other skewers like chicken breast and pork belly, all priced at ¥143. The chicken soup at the end is also delicious and free of charge. The service is excellent and the prices are unbelievably cheap.

Fukuoka on the first night. Since there was another day ahead, we decided to lightly go for some chicken skin, but the first place we entered turned out to be quite terrible (I won't say where...), so we ended up hopping to another place for some chicken skin instead (lol). Maybe we're biased because of the comparison with the first place, but this second place was really good!! It was a relief. - Despite being really crowded, they asked us about our drink order and the number of chicken skin skewers we wanted first, so as long as those came out, everything else was fine. Appreciated. - The crispy and chewy chicken skin, as well as the skewers with nicely trimmed fat, were delicious and easy to eat. The sweetness of the onion sandwiched in between was also nice. - The "darm" (white intestine) had a minimum order of 5 skewers, which I was hesitant about, but they disappeared in seconds. No chewiness at all. Served with a tangy sauce mixed with yuzu pepper. - The "suji" (grilled beef tendon) was something I tried for the first time as a skewer, and the texture was good. - The operation of the staff was really good, with just two people running the whole place and being very busy, but the skewers came out quickly and accurately, and the service was pleasant. We had various skewers and two bottles of beer for about 2,000 yen per person. Cheap, fast, and delicious - this place is a gem that has it all. Thank you for the meal!

I discovered a small shop called Kawaya while searching for a place to eat on my way home, as all the other places I wanted to go to were full. I found an empty seat at the counter and felt relieved. I ordered a draft beer with a side of raw cabbage, vinegar pork trotters, chicken skin skewers, pig feet, and some other dishes. The chicken skin skewers were delicious with a crispy outside and a juicy inside. The vinegar pork trotters were light and had a good texture. The pig feet were also tasty, especially with the collagen and crispy skin. I also ordered a rice ball and a shandy soda. The friendly service from the manager was also a plus. The total bill came to 2560 yen, which was quite affordable. I will definitely come back again.

I enjoyed the lively atmosphere and friendly staff at the restaurant in Hakata. The drinks were strong, and the skewers had a crispy snack-like texture, perfect for pairing with alcohol. We had planned to go to Nagahama-ya next, but due to some unexpected commotion, we ended up at New Nagahama-ya.

On a holiday evening, my wife and I were considering where to have dinner nearby, and one of the options that came up was "Kawaya Otemon Store." There are several branches in Fukuoka city, all of which are quite popular and can be difficult to get into. However, the Otemon Store is a bit further away from Akasaka Station and Ohori Park Station, making it a hidden gem. We made a reservation in advance due to the expected crowd. We called and visited the restaurant 30 minutes later, but had to wait for about 15 minutes because the previous customers had stayed a bit longer. However, it was not a situation where we had to line up and wait like at other branches, so it was fine. The manager and one female staff member were handling the crowded customers, so taking orders was quite challenging. We ordered the specialty chicken skin, which is usually about 10 pieces, but this time we ordered a bit less because we wanted to try other dishes as well. We also ordered sand gizzard sashimi and grilled chicken breast. The specialty chicken skin was continuously ordered by almost all customers, and it was served faster than expected. The surface was crispy and the inside was chewy, with the fat not being overwhelming. There is only one choice of sauce, which is refreshing because the flavor is not overpowering. The sand gizzard sashimi, when dipped in a sweet soy sauce with ginger, had a crunchy texture and a light taste that was enjoyable. It would not be possible without using fresh chicken. Finally, the grilled chicken breast with a brownish sauce that looked like sesame sauce but was actually wasabi soy sauce. The slightly rare grilled chicken breast with wasabi soy sauce was a great combination. Although the amount of food we ordered was small, I was more than satisfied with the "chicken skin" I had not eaten at a restaurant in a while, as well as the other chicken dishes. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a Fukuoka specialty chicken skin restaurant as soon as it opened. I dined alone this time, but the counter was cozy and I ended up eating and drinking quite a bit. Fukuoka's chicken skin is really delicious. I would like to visit again when I come back to Fukuoka.

I visited the restaurant after a live show. I made a reservation in advance because it seemed like it would be crowded, and it was a good decision. Reservations are a must when going there. I mentioned that I had a reservation and was seated at the counter. I tried the chicken skin, low-temperature cooked gizzard, and liver with some sake. The restaurant seemed very popular, with standing customers, but the service was very polite and even in the crowded space, it was comfortable and enjoyable to drink there. The famous chicken skin was surprisingly not greasy or too rich, with a chewy texture and a balanced flavor. The low-temperature cooked gizzard and liver were rich and flavorful, without any unpleasant smell, and paired perfectly with the sake. The sake was served perfectly chilled in a bottle. It was easy to drink and complemented the dishes well. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Fukuoka. I will definitely go back when I visit Fukuoka again.

The specialty chicken skin skewers are great value for money and delicious! They are completely different from the chicken skin I have had before, with a crispy outside and moist inside, almost like a delicacy. The staff were friendly and allowed me to take photos of the skewers happily. I am falling more in love with Hakata. Thank you very much!

I was introduced to a restaurant called Kawara-ya in Hakata, which serves delicious crispy chicken skin. I went there with a friend and tried their skewers where chicken skin is rolled up and grilled to a crispy texture. It was different from the chicken skin I've had in Tokyo, with a snack-like crunchiness and rich seasoning that goes well with beer. It seemed like a unique dish in Fukuoka, and I would love to try it again when I visit.

Located about 10 minutes away from both Akasaka Station and Ohori Koen Station on the Fukuoka City Subway in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, this restaurant is known for being popular and crowded, unlike the main branch in Yakuin. The atmosphere here is not as traditional but the new and clean interior is appealing. I visited around the opening time on the weekend and was seated immediately without having to wait. I ordered the Kawagoho (beef intestines), liver, pork belly, and a bottle of Kirin beer. The beef intestines were rich in flavor and delicious, as expected. Not only the skin, but the meat was also excellent, with the beef intestines being particularly outstanding. I quickly paid my bill as I had plans to visit another restaurant, and left. Thank you for the meal.

I saw this restaurant on TV and had been wanting to go for a long time, but every place was fully booked. After calling the third place, I finally found one that had availability. It was the best grilled chicken skin I've ever had, and I've never eaten so much yakitori before. Another delicious dish was the grilled chicken breast skewers, which the staff recommended and I ended up ordering an extra plate because it was so good. I was thinking of trying the same restaurant in Osaka next time, but it seems that the one in Kyobashi, Osaka is completely different from the one in Hakata. I guess I'll have to eat it again when I come back to Hakata.

Today is a drinking party with my colleagues! The organizer made a reservation at this place...! Come to think of it, I've never tried chicken skin at a famous restaurant before. I've been wanting to try the popular rolled chicken skin in Hakata lately, so good job, organizer! The restaurant has a small counter, one table, and a new standing drinking space outside! Let's order the specialty chicken skin...! - Chicken skin (120 yen) x3 - Draft beer (500 yen) I usually don't eat three pieces of chicken skin at other places, but here it's common to order 10 pieces! They say it's the part with less fat at the base of the throat! When I tried it, it wasn't crispy but rather chewy... with quite a bit of fat removed, making it refreshing to eat! The flavor of the sauce and the lightly grilled chicken skin aroma are great! I see, this is definitely a skewer that goes well with beer...! Let's add more chicken skin and order other skewers! - Chicken skin (120 yen) x2 - Gizzard (120 yen) - Chicken meat (120 yen) - Chicken belly (120 yen) - Chicken liver (120 yen) - Chicken intestine (120 yen) I wanted to conquer all types, but I had to give up... haha The skewers are the right size for the price, perfectly grilled! The saltiness is just right and the beer goes down smoothly! But since we're here, maybe it's good to focus on chicken skin and order like 10 pieces? I wonder if the texture of the chicken skin roll at other places is different...? Let's use this opportunity to compare... Thanks for the meal!!

Visited a famous chain restaurant specializing in grilled chicken skin in Fukuoka after a long time. I was in the mood for yakitori, so I asked my friend to make a reservation. This restaurant is very famous and has been featured on TV. When we entered the restaurant, we were asked how many chicken skin skewers we wanted. Then we ordered drinks. The taste was delicious with the sauce soaking in perfectly. They mentioned that they marinate the chicken in the sauce for several days. The restaurant was packed from the moment we arrived until we left. It seemed like many customers were there to quickly eat and leave. It would be convenient if this restaurant was nearby. Overall, it was a delicious meal! 🍴

I had heard that Kawayu was popular in Hakata, but since I'm not a fan of chicken skin, I had never been there. However, my husband suddenly expressed a desire to visit, so I made a reservation after learning that they also have a branch near Ohtemon. The menu is simple, with skewers as the main dish and various other skewers available for 120 yen each.

I think I saw it on that popular show, Ken○n Show, where they wrap chicken skin around a skewer, grill it for several days, then grill it again right before serving. I wanted to try it, so on the first day of my Kyushu trip, we went to the second restaurant, "Kawaya Otemon-ten." We sat at the counter with our family of four, and we could see a mountain of rolled chicken skin from our seats. We started with some beer, then ordered 8 pieces of chicken skin without knowing for sure if it was the rolled version. We also ordered chicken meat and pork belly. We were relieved to see them grilling the mountain of chicken skin. I found out that they prepare it for 6 days and grill it 7-8 times during that period. When the food arrived, the chicken skin was much smaller due to multiple grillings. The outer layer was crispy, with juicy fat and sweet-savory sauce bursting out. Healthy and delicious! Perfect with beer! I could understand why people would eat many of these. We ordered an additional 12 pieces of the rolled chicken skin. The effort and time put into making these at a price of 110 yen per piece is commendable. The chicken meat was smaller than expected but juicy and tasty. I noticed they were pouring a transparent liquid from a jug while grilling. When my wife asked, they said it was a "magic spell to make it delicious." Before we paid, they served us a complimentary chicken soup. It had a gentle, milky flavor. I would love to come back here next time I visit Fukuoka. Thank you for the meal.

There are still many famous specialties in Hakata ☆ #Chicken skin rolls#To Kawaya Otemon store. After carefully preparing for less than a week, how do you eat the chicken skin skewers unique to Hakata? The extra fat is removed, and the sauce soaks in well, making it surprisingly light and addictive. You can keep eating as many as you want, feeling the true power of Hakata gourmet ☆. Even though the drunkenness from drinking in Hakata continues every day, I remember the photo and memory of only eating chicken breast and green peppers, but the moisture of the green peppers soaked into my body like water! Even in the luxury of ladder sake, I still want to enjoy Hakata's night leisurely. It seems like the Hakata feast will continue! Thank you for the meal!

The Kakegawa branch was fully booked, so I made a reservation at the Otemon branch. There were fewer people, and I enjoyed the kawa skewers as usual. The crispy aroma of the kawa skewers is really addictive. The vinegar motsu is also cheap at 300 yen, making it a great value for money. It seems there is also a branch in Tokyo, but it's a shame that prices there are higher.

While I have been living in Fukuoka for many years, I had never tried Fukuoka's unique "torikawa" (chicken skin) dish until now. Unlike the usual chewy chicken skin, this one is not too heavy and you can eat as many pieces as you want! It goes really well with beer too...!! After reading reviews, I decided to start with 10 pieces but ended up ordering another 10. Honestly, I feel like I could have eaten more!! The pork belly and the recommended chicken skewers were delicious as well, but if you come here, you have to try the chicken skin! Personally, I think next time I go, I'll just stick with chicken skin and pork belly! (Those two are just on another level of delicious!)

I finally went to the new store of "Kawaya" that I've always wanted to visit before it becomes difficult to make a reservation. As soon as I sat down, they asked, "How many pieces of skin would you like?" I was a little surprised because I hadn't even looked at the menu yet. I had studied on Tabelog, so I ordered 15 pieces for two people. We ordered: 15 pieces of chicken skin (too much), 2 pieces of pork belly, 1 piece of gizzard, 1 piece of cartilage, 2 pieces of minced meat, yam, oolong tea, sake, and soup. The overall taste was lighter than I had imagined, but it was delicious. The total bill was 3500 yen, which was cheap. It was early on a weekday, but the place was full. Customers were coming and going one after another. Despite the crowdedness, there were only two staff members. They were efficient and courteous, providing a pleasant and smooth service.

Visited the newly opened Kawa-ya store. Arrived at the store 5 minutes before opening, but couldn't enter until 6 o'clock. I wish they had let us in because it was cold. Upon entering, I ordered a draft beer, chicken skin, grilled chicken gizzards, tongue, pig's feet, sand lizard, pork belly, sausages, and onions. The 500 yen for a shochu on the rocks is expensive. If there's no option for a bottle keep, please consider offering smaller servings. The incense in the bathroom is too strong. Every time the door opens, it smells like a Buddhist altar.
