Ribot
From Aboza Station, heading north on Shin-Naniwa Street, there is a seafood izakaya. The menu mainly consists of seafood dishes, but for some reason, tempura is also a specialty. And with the tempura, you get a mountain of grated daikon radish... it feels like there was a place like this somewhere (laughs). These types of seafood izakayas have been popping up like mushrooms after the rain recently, but the pioneer in this field is Tottsan. Tottsan is famous for serving tempura along with seafood dishes, and it looks almost identical to this place. The only difference is that the grated daikon radish with the tempura here is a bit coarser. However, the texture is still good and nice. This time, we tried the tempura along with sashimi, grilled dishes, simmered dishes, and fried chicken. The photo I took was of the tuna sashimi, which was priced at 380 yen for that amount, so it's not bad. The rest of the dishes were pretty standard izakaya fare. The sashimi and tempura were delicious, so that's a plus, but you can't help but notice the similarities with Tottsan, which affects the overall rating. (2013.04.15)◇◇ This time (or rather, the second time I've visited this place, including visits to other branches), I visited as the second stop after eating and drinking moderately. So, I decided to skip the specialty dish of this place, tempura, as I didn't want something too heavy on my stomach. I started with a hot sake as it was winter and I had already consumed quite a bit of beer at the first stop. For food, the sashimi and fried small shrimp were decent, the salad was average, edamame and potato fries were slightly below average. The blowfish skin with ponzu sauce... I personally didn't like it. One of my companions also didn't like it, but the other one enjoyed it and finished everything, so I guess tastes differ. The most divisive dish was the grilled tuna collar; personally, I found it mediocre, but some people were happy with it considering the price and size. However, without the tempura, the overall satisfaction with the food decreased. The satisfaction level this time was on par with the previous visit, where I had excluded the tempura from the rating as it resembled Tottsan's tempura. The atmosphere is still clean and unchanged from the last visit, and there is a counter, but it seems more suitable for groups of two or three. The interior is still neat, unlike the slightly run-down and paper-thin atmosphere of Tottsan. It still feels welcoming for a date, especially for couples who are already close. I wrote the updated text, but couldn't find the photos... oh well. (2015.10.28) ◇◇
