I visited "Yadaizushi Tanikucho" in Tanimachi 9-chome, which I had been curious about for a while. The restaurant has a spacious interior with counter seats, tables, and tatami seating. I sat at the counter and enjoyed the following dishes: potato salad, assorted sashimi (salmon, yellowtail, squid), cheese senbei, garlic skewers, nigiri sushi (sea bream, egg, striped jack, eel, fatty tuna), Tamago-yaki, highball, draft beer, and adult lemon sour. The fried dishes and sushi were all delicious. The menu offers a wide variety of items and drinks, making it a casual and enjoyable place to visit.

Since a typhoon was approaching, there were fewer customers. I went early and they were offering beer at a cheap price, which was a great deal!

We ordered a three-color roll (tuna, salmon roe, cucumber), a piece of red shrimp, and a piece of conger eel sushi. The izakaya dishes were average, while the sushi was decent in terms of toppings, but the rice was lacking. It's best to think of it as a regular izakaya. The fact that some drink items are half price early in the evening is a nice bonus, so it might be worth considering if you plan to start drinking early.

The interior was quite empty on a weekday. It is not a busy area, so it is understandable. The restaurant is quite spacious, which made it feel a bit lonely. Even though there were two of us, we were seated at a table instead of the counter. It seemed more like an izakaya that serves sushi rather than a sushi restaurant. We ordered simmered dishes and grilled salted dishes and started drinking, but the flavors were weak. It had a slight dashi aroma. The sashimi was not cut or sliced to my liking. The nigiri sushi had large rice portions, and there were lumps when you put it in your mouth. There was nothing particularly noteworthy about the quality of the ingredients. Overall, it was far from the taste and quality of sushi that I prefer. Thank you for the meal.

But if you're expecting sushi, it's probably best to avoid. Hang in there, Yatazushi!

It may vary depending on the type of fish. The Kohada on this day was thin and lacked shine, which was disappointing. The Negitoro roll had delicious toppings, but the seaweed was short and barely wrapped around. I wish they didn't skimp on this. The sea urchin, horse mackerel, and blowfish were delicious. Considering the price, I think larger pieces would be better. Whether I would use this sushi restaurant again is questionable. It could be considered for izakaya dining though.
