I visited Ichijiku, known for their "Dried Persimmon, Walnut, and Fig Mille-feuille" cake, as they have started offering a new cake called "Fig and Ginger Mousse." The combination of fig and ginger was intriguing and unique. The cake had slices of fig covering a ginger and cheese mousse, with a tart base. The aroma of fig and ginger complemented each other well, but as a fig lover, I wished there were more chunks of fig in the mousse. I also tried their "Lime Mousse," which was a refreshing cake. The shop had a classy and elegant Kyoto-like atmosphere, with a spacious interior and a large cake showcase. Their award-winning "Dried Persimmon, Walnut, and Fig Mille-feuille" was also available, with its unique layers of chewy dried fig, white chocolate, walnut, bitter chocolate, and dried persimmon. It is a highly recommended dessert, available not only in-store but also for online orders through various websites.

I had the lunch set B which included pasta, salad, and cake for 1980 yen. I chose the shrimp tomato cream pasta from a selection of over ten types of pasta, and it was delicious with plenty of shrimp. For the cake, I chose an Opera cake with orange and chocolate flavors from the display case where all options were 660 yen or less. The cake had a rich chocolate and buttercream taste with a refreshing hint of orange. I would like to go back on days when I want to treat myself.

Visited around 2:30 pm on a weekday. When I entered, there were no other customers and the atmosphere was a bit quiet, but a couple of groups came in later and it became a nice and cozy vibe. I ordered a set of black tea and cake. I chose Darjeeling for the tea, which had a smooth and easy-to-drink taste. For the cake, I chose the Maison Bush (540 yen). The buttercream had a smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture and was delicious. It might feel a bit heavy towards the end for some people. The total cost for the drink and cake was just over 1000 yen, so it was a great value. I would love to come back when I want to have a leisurely chat.

There is space outside the shop. Due to the narrow Oyakawa Street, many people park along the waterway. The charming exterior often makes people say, "I want to go in! But..." Is this longing for the appearance a unique feature? It's a cake shop where you can order while looking at the showcase, following the home accounting style. Although there is a PayPay display, credit cards are also accepted. When I got home and tried to eat, I was surprised. The usual "ring" was not in the case! The cake had shifted during transport because there was empty space in the box. I'm worried about what to do if it's for a gift. Orange rare cheesecake (¥540) and strawberry tart (¥756) are delicious as usual. The prices are quite high.

A friend recommended this shop to me. It looks very delicious! The box is like a treasure chest, giving off a luxurious and cute Japanese vibe. It says chocolate sweets, but it's packed with figs, dried persimmons, and walnuts, all tightly wrapped with chocolate, creating a mille-feuille-like treat. I've had butter and dried persimmon mille-feuille at a dried persimmon shop before, but this one has less butter, making it less heavy, allowing you to taste the deliciousness of figs, dried persimmons, and walnuts directly. The chocolate is also delicious! You can enjoy its richness, making it very tasty!

I quickly purchased some sweets while waiting for the bus that was taking a while to come in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto. The shop looks like a traditional Japanese sweets shop, with a display of fresh sweets on one side and traditional Japanese sweets on the other. The fresh sweets are a bit pricey overall, but they are all beautifully presented and tempting. I would love to come back and enjoy them in the shop. The custard pudding made with fresh eggs costs 324 yen. It's not too firm, but rather smooth and creamy. The egg flavor is not overpowering, making it easy to eat. The hojicha financiers have hojicha leaves as toppings, giving a direct hojicha flavor that is rare to find. It's not too sweet and very tasty. The chocolate raspberry belly button has a nice popping texture from the raspberries.

The location is inconvenient, but the customers are coming in decently. I bought a shortcake, a chocolate cake, a cheesecake, and one more item. The taste is delicious, but the shortcake and chocolate cake cost around 800 yen each. They are larger than regular slices of cake, but a bit pricey.

I had been curious about Ichizen for a while. They don't have a parking lot. The exterior looks like a traditional Kyoto-style Japanese confectionery shop. But once you step inside, it transforms into a modern cake shop! You can also eat in. The cakes range from seasonal to classic, all with a sense of style that makes it hard to choose. After much deliberation, I chose the Mont Blanc. You can pay with PayPay. When I tasted it, the chestnut flavor spread gently. However, the cream was a bit too much. It also had chunks of chestnut flesh inside, and what set it apart was the coconut slices sprinkled at the bottom, changing the taste completely. I had high expectations, so the Mont Blanc was a bit disappointing. I would like to go back and try other cakes.

Continuing from last time, I had lunch with my friends at Ichiyoshi-san after a long time. The orange salad had been changed to onion mousse salad. It was raining that day, but the restaurant was full. I was torn between pasta and risotto, but I chose risotto. It was reliably delicious. My friend chose curry, which looked delicious with cream on top. I haven't tried the dessert here yet, so I hope to have the opportunity in the future. Thank you for the meal!

The lunch set comes with a salad that includes a whole orange, and the orange is so sweet and delicious. The cake is also of high quality, with a butter cake-like one being my favorite. However, the main dish and the leafy part of the salad are just average.

The restaurant has a clean and modern atmosphere with a focus on Japanese-style cakes. It is located in the Kitashirakawa area, facing the Higashi Kurama entrance next to the Iori-cho bus stop on the south side. The name of the restaurant is "Ichizenya," owned by the Nakamura family. The exterior is glass-walled, offering a view inside with bamboo-themed decorations, tea flowers, and Japanese paintings. There are four calm wooden tables and a wooden counter on the right side. For lunch, I recommend the pasta set, which includes a creamy shrimp and tomato pasta, fruit salad, cake, and coffee for a reasonable price of 1700 yen. It's a great option for a light meal.

There were many cakes to choose from and I had a hard time deciding, but I couldn't resist the Mont Blanc and the peach cake that felt seasonal (I forgot the name). Both were delicious. I also thought about trying the cream puffs, the melon gateau, the opera cake, and the Japanese-style daifuku-like cake. I want to go back again.

I haven't been to Kyoto for a while, which is unusual because I usually go at least once a year, sometimes 2 or 3 times. It's a bit disappointing. On the other hand, I have come to appreciate the charm of Yokohama. I tried this Mille-feuille pastry, which is made with domestically grown semi-dried figs simmered in red wine, layered with sweet white chocolate, and topped with walnuts. Then, bitter couverture chocolate is poured over it, and sweet domestic persimmons are added to create a mille-feuille. It comes in a regular bag, so it's hard to see the intricate layers, but the taste is tangy, rich, and delicious.

Near Kyoto Zokei University, there are stylish cafes and Western confectionery shops. I didn't have the courage to enter the cafe on campus, so I was aiming for nearby shops. Here, "Ichizenya" is a Western confectionery shop that even has products sold at Takashimaya. While the main store is located around Shijo, the branch is surprisingly located away from tourist spots. Despite being a Western confectionery shop, they emphasize the concept of "Kyoto's Western confectionery," creating a "Western confectionery that reflects the Japanese spirit" in contrast to French pastries. I was drawn to the unique concept of a Kyoto Western confectionery shop. In the evening, take-out customers are the main focus, so the eat-in area is usually empty. For eat-in, you can choose your cake from the showcase. Today, I chose the Orange Rare Cheesecake (486 yen). The Ichizenya Set (1296 yen) includes your choice of cake with matcha ice cream and matcha tea. On this day, the matcha ice cream was sold out, so it was replaced with pistachio (which was actually a pleasant surprise). The Orange Rare Cheesecake had bold slices of orange on top and finely chopped orange sauce on the upper layer. The slightly bitter-sweet orange flavor was delicious. Additionally, the rich rare cheesecake paired very well with the refreshing orange. At the bottom, there was a sponge cake soaked in orange syrup. The matcha tea had a mild bitterness and was easy to drink. Unlike the serious atmosphere I experienced in a tea class long ago, where matcha was described as "bitter," the matcha tea at Ichizenya paired well with the Western confectionery. The pistachio ice cream had a strong pistachio flavor, yet it was light and had a good taste. I had a warm and cozy time in the stylish and modern interior of the store, with friendly staff. Since it is located away from the main tourist areas, it is very quiet and a hidden gem.

I went to buy a cake for Christmas and chose a strawberry tart. It was a bit pricey at over 700 yen, but the taste was really good! It was delicious! The tart was crispy and the strawberries were very sweet. I'm glad I chose this place. I want to try their whole cakes too.

I visited a friend's house in Kitashirakawa and they took me to a recommended restaurant. The lunch came with a refreshing orange salad, which was delicious. I had the risotto for lunch, which had a rich sauce that I loved. They also had pasta and other Western menu items. It was fully booked that day, so I'm glad we made a reservation. I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit. It's a restaurant that I would definitely go back to if it were near my house.

Near Kyoto Zokei University, the café inside the sweets shop Ichizenya has a spacious and cozy atmosphere with wide tables and quiet music playing. You can enjoy the cakes sold at the storefront inside the café, as well as a variety of lunch menu items such as pasta, curry rice, and sandwiches. There are also value sets that come with cake. I tried the peach tart set (you can choose your favorite) with matcha, ice cream, and a café au lait. The cakes were delicious, and the matcha, ice cream, and café au lait were also very tasty. I had a great time and would like to visit again!

I love pound cakes and sometimes I buy them. Among them, I particularly like pound cakes with a refreshing citrus scent. Today I will introduce a moist pound cake with a citrus aroma from a shop called "Ichizenya" in Kyoto. - Lemon This pound cake has a slim shape which is characteristic. It is wrapped in a furoshiki, making it perfect for gifts. Despite the shop's name having a Japanese feel, it is actually a Western confectionery shop. There are several flavors of pound cakes available, but I chose the seasonal limited edition lemon. The texture of the cake is moist and tightly packed. Inside, there are lemon peels, which I particularly enjoy in citrus-flavored pound cakes. I was recommended to chill it a bit before eating, so I did just that. Eating it slightly chilled was refreshing and delicious. The cool texture was also nice. The sugar glaze on the surface became crispy after chilling, which was great. There was also another flavor called "Shiyo Yuzu Confit," which is a combination of dried yuzu fruits and white chocolate. It had a hint of Japanese taste in this Western confectionery, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I bought a cake that looked like shortcake and an Opera cake. The whipped cream wasn't too heavy, it was refreshing and I liked it. It would go well with chiffon cake. The cakes were delicious, but the staff at the shop seemed a bit rushed and not very friendly. It seems like they also serve lunch and have a cafe, as there were a few people dining there.
