I really wanted to try it, but when I was watching TV, they said that grilled persimmon leaf sushi is delicious! Well, of course it would be. So, I eagerly went out and bought some persimmon leaf sushi. When I peeled it, I noticed it was different from the ones you buy in Nara, and I was a bit worried about the thinness of the fish. But I still enjoyed it as it was delicious. It's still early spring, so the vinegar wasn't too strong, more on the sweeter side. I had the salmon, sea bream, and mackerel, the classic trio, and they were all delicious. Maybe grilling them would be better with the thicker fish from Nara. Should I order some online? No, I have a boss who lives there!

On a slightly humid holiday, I felt like having some persimmon leaf sushi. I decided to go to this shop in the depachika (food basement) of Keio Department Store Shinjuku. I have bought persimmon leaf sushi from this shop before when I visited Kyoto, so I was happy to see that they have a store in Tokyo now. This time, I bought a pack of 7 pieces with two kinds of sushi: salmon and mackerel. The sushi was smooth and very delicious.

Bought persimmon leaf sushi for New Year's Eve. It contains two types of fish, mackerel and salmon. There were 4 mackerel and 3 salmon pieces, so I split it into two servings. It's delicious when dipped in slightly sweet soy sauce. It's convenient that you can now buy it easily even in Tokyo.

I went to the rooftop of Keio Department Store on June 13th and checked out the food market on the basement and lower ground levels. I bought grilled conger eel, golden eye snapper, and mackerel. I was told to eat the conger eel on the same day, but ended up eating it the next morning after some twists and turns. I didn't remember being told to eat it on the same day, but it was early morning so it was fine. The sushi toppings all seemed a bit light, with a hint of saltiness. It looked like they would taste better with some soy sauce, and when I tried it, it was indeed tastier.
