Visit on June 23, 2021, during the day. First visit. A friend who loves our Baum recommended it, so I was curious and decided to visit the nearest store at Grand Front.
■ Purchased Items
- Baumkuchen slice for 270 yen
- Expiration date: July 7
■ Taste
This Baumkuchen aims for a modern smoothness and fluffiness, using vegetable oil, leavening agents, and emulsifiers, making it different from traditional Baumkuchen. The butter flavor is not prominent. It seems to be designed for mass production in high-rent and labor-intensive locations like department stores. I felt like they were cutting costs on ingredients to make the business profitable. Perhaps due to the use of additives, it doesn't sit well in the stomach and leaves a sensation of foreign matter inside after eating. Looking at the ingredients on the back of the product, I was surprised. While I understand the need to hire multiple staff and ensure profitability by expanding to Grand Front, I find the quality difficult to use for personal consumption or as a souvenir.
