From Kamiba Station, walk towards Kuzuhama Mall, make a right turn just before the mall, pass by the Sumitomo Mitsui Bank, turn left at the sidewalk and continue straight until you reach a commercial building at the four-way intersection near the Kusunoki Chuo intersection (Pleasant House El). The restaurant is located on the first floor towards the back of the building, and you can look for Panasonic's Refine sign as a landmark. The distance from the station is quite far, and the restaurant is located near a residential area. The lunch prices are a bit on the higher side, which is why it seems to be popular for ladies' gatherings during the day. I visited this restaurant twice this year, and both times, the other customers were groups of ladies. I visited both times around 30 minutes before the end of lunchtime, and the restaurant was very empty both times. The specialty of this restaurant is the "Chagama Tempura," so I ordered the "Tempura Set" (1400 yen) on both visits. The tempura is fried after you place your order, so it takes a bit of time. You can pass the time like the ladies by chatting or like me, reading a book alone. The "Tempura Set" includes 7-8 types of tempura, 5 side dishes, rice, miso soup, pickles, and fruit. The tempura I had in December included raw wheat gluten, scallop sashimi (I think), eel (I think), 2 prawns, pumpkin, eggplant, and sweet potato. In the summer, when I visited, the set included squid instead of scallop sashimi, white fish instead of eel, and no sweet potato. It seems like the contents may change depending on the season or day. The tempura was interesting rather than delicious, especially the raw wheat gluten and eel. You can enjoy the tempura with salt or tempura dipping sauce. I imagined the "Chagama Tempura" to be served in a small teapot, but it actually came on a regular plate. The 5 side dishes were the same on both visits, with only the mini dashimaki tamago being consistent, while the other 4 dishes changed each time. I cannot identify some of the ingredients or cooking methods in the side dishes, so I will skip the explanations. The fruit was an orange on my first visit and a mandarin on my second visit. The price of 1400 yen may be a bit high for lunch, but considering the variety and quality of the set, it is actually quite reasonable. Due to health reasons, I cannot visit frequently because of the high fat content in tempura batter, but I would like to visit during the changing seasons to try the differences in the set or explore other lunch options at this restaurant.
