You can enjoy matcha without it being too bitter or too sweet, making it very easy to enjoy. While the regular kinako warabi mochi is also delicious, the matcha flavor was truly impressive. I'm not a huge fan of matcha flavor, but this one was just right and delicious. Even during the summer when cakes and chocolates might feel too heavy, this is light and easy to eat. It's sweet enough to go well with coffee too.

I went on a solo trip for two nights and three days. This is my final review. Even though my luggage was already full, I saw a TV program about warabi mochi the other day and I really wanted to eat some. I wanted the real deal, not the imitation ones sold at supermarkets! I found some black sugar warabi mochi at the sparkling Depachika of Kyoto Isetan. It cost around 600 yen. It was a good amount and even tasted great when I chilled it a bit at home. The high-quality warabi mochi was delicious! It was soft and had plenty of kinako powder on it!! I wanted to use the leftover kinako powder for something else... (I suggested sprinkling it on Akafuku, but my husband, who was busy devouring Akafuku, said he wanted to eat it as is. He finished all 12 Akafuku by himself.) I want to buy warabi mochi from here again when I leave Kyoto Station!

After having lunch at Granvia, my son insisted on being driven back to the hotel even though it was within walking distance. I decided to let him do that as I wanted to explore Kyoto Station. He bought me some warabi mochi, with kinako and matcha flavors. They were delicious and the matcha was especially good.

I purchased the classic warabi mochi at Isetan. When you buy it here, the kinako powder is already sprinkled on top, unlike when you buy it at the station where the kinako powder is separate. The warabi mochi is soft and has a good weight to it. At 600 yen, it feels like a good deal.

Tomorrow is the last day of the Kyoto Food Fair at JR Nagoya Takashimaya. I visited Barasushi, Nomura Tsukudani, and Fujinaomi. The Mitarashi dango was delicious, and I hadn't tried the Matcha jelly before, so I bought two and tried them. The Matcha jelly had a mild sweetness with red bean paste, and it was delicious.

I had been curious about it for a while, but I couldn't buy it. This time, I decided to stop by and try it. It was a Sunday afternoon, and it wasn't crowded, so I was able to order right away. I was interested in the freshly baked mitarashi dango and warabi mochi set, but I chose the matcha warabi mochi. I used a Mitsukoshi Isetan shareholder discount card for a 10% discount, and then used a department store gift card to pay, so it was a good deal. They handed me the item right away. I tried it a little later. Unlike the usual kinako, it wasn't too sweet and just right. I can see why it's popular. I'd like to try something different next time.

When I went to the Shimizu store and got mitarashi dango, my friend who wanted to eat warabimochi bought it at a different place. Since it doesn't last long, we decided to eat it soon. When we opened the lid, a vibrant green color and the scent of matcha greeted us. The soft mochi was made with real warabi powder, although it wasn't 100%. This might be why it was reasonably priced. It had a good texture, moderate sweetness, and was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I got some dangos from Fujinami! I love mitarashi dango, so each small and elegant dango is perfect for me. They are so small that I can eat a lot of them (^_^;) The mitarashi sauce is thick and refreshing, not too sweet. I tried sprinkling the included kinako powder on the mitarashi for the first time, and wow! It added a punch of flavor, with a crispy and soft texture. It was delicious! (^_^)!

On January 29, 2023, I returned to Tokyo and had some time to spare, so I decided to browse for sweets at Isetan, which is rare for me. I noticed traditional Japanese sweets, and ended up buying mitarashi dango. When I got home, my wife and I enjoyed it with coffee. Eating it as is, the rice cake had a chewy texture, but when I warmed it in the microwave for a few seconds, it became much softer while retaining its fragrant aroma. I personally preferred it warmed up.

I did some chocolate research at Kyoto Isetan, but ended up not buying anything and went down to the basement floor. I was thinking of buying some souvenirs, maybe some Japanese sweets or cakes? I was hesitating. Oh, the line is usually long but not today. This is a chance, right? I decided to buy souvenirs for Fuyuna-san. They were selling mitarashi and matcha dango. The most popular one is the mitarashi dango, which is grilled at the store, coated with sauce, and ready to eat. The mitarashi dango costs 550 yen and is small in size, making it easy to eat even for those with a small mouth. The roasted rice cake has a fragrant aroma, and the scent of the kinako (soybean flour) adds to the appeal. The matcha dango costs 330 yen, and it has a strong matcha flavor with powdered matcha sprinkled on top, perfect for matcha lovers. It was delicious, but personally, I prefer the ones from Kihasaya. I was curious about this shop, so I'm glad I got to try it! You won't know until you try everything, right? Thank you for the meal. I purchased for the first time (^^) This time, I had warabi mochi (black sugar) and mitarashi dango ☆ The mitarashi dango has a chewy yet soft mochi that is very delicious ♡ It has a soy sauce flavor but is not spicy! It has a nice balance with a slight burnt taste that is not bitter. It also came with kinako powder, which was a first for me to try on mitarashi dango! Putting kinako powder on it was amazing, so I highly recommend trying it with kinako powder when you eat it (^^)!

Located 3-5 minutes on foot from Kyoto Station, Fushinami Kyoto Isetan is a popular traditional Japanese sweets shop. It is highly rated among the delicious sweet shops in the basement of Kyoto Isetan, and it is easy to purchase without having to wait in long lines. One of their famous items is the mitarashi dango with a short shelf life, so it's best to visit when you can enjoy the sweets on the same day. This time, I tried the mitarashi dango with 5 pieces. Each dango is small and easy to eat, with plenty of rich honey sauce soaked in. While it is delicious on its own, sprinkling plenty of kinako powder on top enhances the sweetness even more! With its convenient access from Kyoto Station, this shop is easy to visit. Bon appétit!

I bought warabi mochi at Takashimaya in Namba. I bought zenzaidan-go (5 pieces) which are only available in Kyoto. They are skewered dango with red bean paste, and you can sprinkle kinako powder on them. They are best eaten on the day of purchase. When I ate them the next day, the mochi had hardened, so I microwaved them before eating. They tasted freshly made, and I wish I could have eaten them on the spot. Dango-like sweets are best eaten on the day of purchase. The red bean paste was delicious, needless to say. In short: they would have been even tastier if I could have eaten them right away. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Kyoto and Nara again for the West Japan Thirty-three Pilgrimage as the typhoon had no impact on the area. I visited Shitennoji, Kofukuji Nan'en-do, and Horyuji. While waiting for the Shinkansen at Kyoto Station, I was looking for souvenirs at the basement floor of Isetan Kyoto Station store. I was hesitating on what to buy when I saw an elegant lady ordering bracken rice cakes. Although the shop seemed plain and easy to pass by, the display of the bracken rice cakes was sparkling. The kinako, matcha, and brown sugar bracken rice cakes looked fluffy. I felt the urge to take a bite. My wife loves sweets, so I decided to buy them. Each cost 600 yen, but the quantity seemed generous. It was my first time, and I wanted to try all three, so I chose the assorted three-color pack. I brought them home and decided to try them. The shopkeeper advised me to eat them chilled, so I refrigerated the box for about 30 minutes. Wow, they are incredibly fluffy! My wife also said they were delicious. I was glad. They also had other rice cakes, so I decided that I would buy and try them next time I visit Kyoto.

I came back to my beloved Kyoto once again. I strolled along Shijo Street, visiting Nishiki Market and the Gion district. I even met Enma Daio at Rokudo Chinnoji Temple. Kyoto, with its autumn leaves in full bloom, was bustling even on a weekday. While I usually don't go into souvenir shops during my walks, I always stop by Isetan at Kyoto Station before boarding the Shinkansen to buy souvenirs for my family. The warabimochi I bought last time was a big hit with my family. This time, I wanted to try mitarashi as well. It's a small rice cake, but I wonder what it tastes like. It seems to have a sweet soy sauce glaze with kinako sprinkled on top. When I got home, I tried the warabimochi and mitarashi. The warabimochi was fluffy and delicious as always. Unfortunately, the mitarashi was a bit hard, perhaps due to the cold weather. Maybe Enma Daio scolded me for my daily actions. I will continue to strive and go back to buy more.

I purchased this at an event. It's a touching matcha jelly with sweet red bean paste. The jelly is not too firm, more like a delicate solid matcha. It doesn't contain any strange ingredients. It's not overly sweet, with a refreshing matcha flavor. The sweet red bean paste is also subtly sweet with the taste of beans, making it delicious when eaten together. It's a sophisticated sweet that I would like to bring as a summer souvenir. It costs 350 yen.

Inside Isetan, there was a shop selling delicious warabi mochi. They had a set of three different flavors, but I decided to buy a single piece because I could finish it within the same day. I chose the matcha warabi mochi for 600 yen. I chilled it in the fridge before eating it, as recommended for the summer. It was so soft and smooth, with a great texture. The generous amount of matcha and kinako powder was delicious! I had some kinako powder left over, so I made a matcha latte with it.

I had freshly baked mitarashi dango. I wanted to eat the dango baked in the shop right away, but it had been about 2 hours since I moved. Even so, it was fluffy and chewy. The sweet and salty mitarashi sauce was plentiful, and the small-sized mochi made it easy to eat five pieces in one go. It was frustrating not being able to coat the mochi completely with the sauce! There was one piece with a slightly larger burnt area, which increased the bitterness, but personally, I thought it was within the range of being fragrant. Next time, I would like to try the warabi mochi. It's hard to resist the ones that come in a set with dango.

Located in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, the Japanese confectionery shop "Fujinami Kyoto Isetan Store" is currently ranked 114th in the "Kyoto Prefecture [Japanese Sweets]" ranking on Tabelog, despite having a rating of 3.50. Impressive. I visited for a takeout of warabi mochi. The shop is conveniently located just a 2-3 minute walk from JR Kyoto Station, on the basement floor of "JR Kyoto Isetan" directly connected to the station. Upon arrival, I stood in front of the showcase to make my selection. The variety of items was limited, but you could feel the strong dedication. Although tempted by the matcha warabi, I decided to order the "Black Sugar Warabi" for 600 yen (tax included). I was able to enjoy delicious warabi mochi. Made with real warabi powder, it had a great melt-in-your-mouth texture. The Okinawan black sugar and deeply roasted kinako played a big role, creating a fragrant and flavorful taste suitable for adults. Its subtly sweet taste is a standout feature, making you want to keep eating one after another. The Mitarashi dango and Matcha dango also looked delicious. The small Kyoto dango, baked to a crisp, with its secret sauce that seems to have an elegant taste. If you sprinkle kinako on top and eat it, you will surely be satisfied. It seems to be a very popular item. The strict selection of ingredients, as well as the importance placed on traditional methods, are truly admirable. I hope to challenge myself to try their offerings someday. "Fujinami Kyoto Isetan Store" is highly acclaimed for its Mitarashi dango and warabi mochi. It would be a perfect choice for souvenirs as well. If I have the chance, I might visit again. Kyoto Prefecture is home to many outstanding eateries. Visiting "Fujinami Kyoto Isetan Store" in this area known for its popular restaurants and having a great culinary experience was truly meaningful. I look forward to learning from the wisdom of gourmet enthusiasts, expanding my knowledge, and broadening my experiences in the future.

It has a smooth and melty texture. Kyoto's kuzumochi has a gentle mouthfeel that I like. It doesn't last long, so I don't buy it often, but I decided to try it this time. My family also liked it, so I would like to buy it again if I have the chance.
