Welcome! Located in the Sumikawa area of Minami Ward, right in front of Sumikawa Station on the subway line, there is a MaxValu supermarket. On the first floor, there are various deli and bento shops, as well as several individual stores that seem to be operating as in-store concepts. The deli section offers side dishes, small dishes, pickles, etc., but it seems like there are no main dishes such as fish or meat. As for the bento corner, there are various options available, but they all look similar to each other, resembling food court bento boxes. The prices are slightly higher compared to supermarkets, around 1.8 times more expensive. I decided to go for a hearty fighter's bento, which I took home. The leftovers are likely to be sold out by the evening, as it seems that regular customers are already present by 4 pm. I chose the katsudon and yakisoba combo for 460 yen, which is still relatively affordable. However, I noticed that similar items were cheaper at the supermarket, some even with half-price stickers. Despite this, the store seems to have a loyal customer base and is well-established. Now, onto the katsudon! It came with a generous portion of rice, topped with egg soaked in dashi and a soft katsu with a chewy coating that can be easily eaten without much effort. The yakisoba had a simple yet flavorful mix of meat, vegetables, and sauce, cooked to a perfect texture. The crunchy vegetables contrasted nicely with the soft noodles, creating a harmonious balance. Overall, the meal was satisfying and reminded me of something my grandmother used to make. It's clear that the hands of the cook make a difference in the taste of the food. And with that, I finished my meal. Thank you for the delicious food!
