The shop is hidden in a nice atmosphere with a lovely interior, and the coffee is rich and delicious. It's rare for a coffee shop to have a tatami room, which is great. However, the staff is really scary, so I can't go there anymore. I finished my iced latte within about 20 minutes of entering the shop and left in tears.

I visited around 6pm in the evening. I looked at the map while going there and got a little lost, haha. Since it was evening, the customers were varied. I ordered cheesecake and iced coffee. I waited at the table and the staff brought it to me. The cheesecake was moist and delicious ❤️ The coffee was to my liking, not too acidic. It was a lovely and calming space, like a hidden gem. I would love to go back when I visit Kyoto again ☕️

At first, it's a cafe tucked away in a narrow alley that's hard to find. I ordered the seasonal orange cake this time, after having the cheesecake last time. For my drink, I chose a deep roasted iced coffee. The orange cake had a perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness from the oranges, and the moistness of the cake enhanced the flavors even more. The coffee, although iced, had a strong bitterness due to the deep roast, yet it was refreshing to drink. Personally, I found it interesting that each coffee cup was different, adding a unique touch. This cafe is truly a hidden gem! Definitely worth a visit!

Hidden Alley Cafe ☕️ - A Hidden Gem in Kyoto! 🌟
Located in a narrow alleyway in Kyoto, this cafe called "mag" is a true hidden gem. The entrance may resemble a sophisticated traditional Japanese restaurant rather than a cafe, but don't be fooled by appearances. "mag" has been quietly operating in this hidden alley for years.
Upon entering, you are greeted by the hostess who leads you to a seat near the entrance. The interior is a mix of a traditional Japanese room with white wooden furniture, giving it a cozy and unique atmosphere.
The menu offers a variety of drinks including drip coffee, espresso, cafe latte, as well as juices and teas, all priced around 600 yen. The homemade cheesecake is a popular choice, known for its rich flavor and smooth texture. Pair it with ice cream for the full "mag" experience.
I had the pleasure of trying the cheesecake and cafe latte during my visit, both of which were delightful. The cafe latte had a refreshing bitterness with a light finish, while the cheesecake was creamy and slightly tangy.
Overall, "mag" is a charming spot to enjoy a relaxing cafe time in Kyoto. Whether you choose to sit on the first floor, second floor, or the open terrace, you'll have a lovely view of the surrounding buildings on Kiyamachi Street and Nishiki-Kiyamachi Street.
And here's an interesting fact - all the items on the menu at "mag" are gluten-free, making it a great choice for those with wheat allergies or gluten intolerance.
If you're a fan of cheesecake or simply looking for a cozy cafe to unwind, "mag" is definitely worth a visit!

I ordered a matcha latte and a gâteau chocolat cake. The matcha latte was very satisfying in both appearance and taste. When the cake was brought out, I thought it was smaller than I had expected, but it was delicious with a good portion size.

I thought I knew the place, but I passed by it... It's quietly tucked away in a narrow alley between Kiyamachi and Pontocho. The interior is super cute and has a cozy atmosphere. You order and pay upfront, then the staff brings your order to you. I had the baked cheesecake and a cafe latte. The latte had a cute winking rabbit design. The cheesecake was rich and creamy, and the ice cream that came with it was delicious. It's a cafe that's easy to visit even if you're alone.

No, I don't understand. A cafe quietly standing in a narrow alley where you can't find it on your first visit. The coffee has a strong acidity, but it's not unpleasant, with a refreshing taste. The cheesecake is moist and rich in flavor. It pairs perfectly with the vanilla ice cream on the side! I came here just to eat this cheesecake. This cafe is perfect for when you want to take a little break.

In a back alley, there is a hidden cafe. It was a bit difficult to find the location, but once inside, you can write your name down and they will call you when it's your turn. They offer gluten-free pastries and coffee. The exterior and interior of the cafe may look a bit different. The coffee has a lingering acidity, and the cheesecake is more dense than expected. It's like a treasure hunt finding this place, and I would love to go back again.

I had a hard time finding the shop in the alley and ended up circling around while looking at the map app. The shop had two floors, and I chose to sit on the terrace (balcony?) on the second floor. There were also traditional Japanese-style seating areas where you take off your shoes and table seats available. I ordered a fig and nut cake and a hot café latte. The fig cake had a stollen-like flavor and was very delicious. The latte art on the café latte was cute. The cheesecake came with ice cream and had a creamy texture like a rare cheesecake. The matcha latte was also delicious. There were many other types of cakes available, so I wish I could have tried more. I would definitely want to visit this shop again when I go to Kyoto.

Here is a review of a café called mag. I had heard of the name before but found the location to be a bit tricky to find. After looking at the map, I realized it was near Rissei Garden Hyurick Kyoto, so I decided to give it a try. As expected, I got lost a bit, but with some help from others, I finally found my way there! The café is located in a very narrow alley between Kiyamachi and Pontocho, with only a sign that says mag and a lantern outside. I opened the lattice white wooden door a little further inside. The interior of the café is also white wood, with unified tables and chairs, and a fan of geisha and maiko on the counter. The sophisticated atmosphere with bright lighting gives a refined and adult-like feel, almost like a membership tea house. There was a female owner behind the counter, chatting with what seemed to be regular male customers. When I arrived, I was told to order first and pay afterwards. I chose matcha latte for 650 yen and cheesecake for 600 yen from the menu. As I waited at the table, they were eventually brought to me - the matcha latte was served in a large Oribe-like cup with a cute rabbit art winking at me. When I tasted it, the matcha bitterness was mild, but the steamed milk blended well, creating a smooth flavor. The cheesecake was dense and moist, with a strong sweetness and acidity. The accompanying ice cream was refreshing, balancing out the sweetness of the cake. It was a cozy café that exuded the atmosphere of the nearby entertainment district, Pontocho.

Hidden gem cafe located in a narrow alley, just a 3-minute walk from Sanjo Station and about 5 minutes from Kyoto Kawaramachi Station. The warm atmosphere inside the cafe is lovely. It operates on a pre-payment system, so you need to order and pay as soon as you enter. This time, I ordered a ❤︎ Cheesecake ¥600 (tax included) ❤︎ Matcha Latte ¥650 (tax included). Note that they only accept cash payments. You can choose your favorite seat, and this time I chose the semi-terrace seat on the second floor. The rich cheesecake with a slightly tangy and new texture was delicious, especially with the ice cream on the side. The Matcha Latte had a cute rabbit latte art and came in a lovely traditional Japanese-style cup. It's recommended to visit during the quiet lunch hours on weekdays. I'm curious about the Gâteau au Chocolat, so I'd love to come back again. Note that reservations and seat holds are not available, and you can only take photos with up to 3 images. It was delicious. Thank you. I'd love to visit again.

Visited on a Saturday around noon. There were 3 groups of customers already there. Ordered and paid at the counter (cash only) before being shown to the second floor. Chose a table seat this time, but there were also traditional Japanese seating areas where you take off your shoes. Self-serve water is available. Ordered the following:
- Matcha Latte HOT (650 yen)
- Cheesecake (600 yen)
The cheesecake came with a side of ice cream and was rich and tangy. The matcha latte had cute latte art and was not too sweet. This hidden gem of a cafe is worth visiting again to try their seasonal cakes.

A cafe in a narrow alley between Kiyamachi and Pontocho. The aroma of chocolate from the front of the shop was delightful! The interior was also beautiful, and I heard there is a terrace seat on the second floor. I was drawn to the limited edition fig dessert, so I ordered the fig cake. The chocolate cake was also rich and delicious.

I waited in line for about an hour at a cafe in a Kyoto alley. The atmosphere inside was very stylish, with a terrace seat and great photo spots. The drinks were delicious. The cakes were also tasty!

Cheesecake ¥550, Gateau Chocolat ¥550, Matcha Latte ¥600, Apple and Ginger Hot Toddy ¥600. This popular modern cafe has a cozy interior with lots of wood, creating a warm atmosphere. The matcha latte comes with a cute rabbit latte art, almost too adorable to drink. It has a subtle sweetness and is easy to drink. The homemade apple and ginger syrup hot toddy warms you up with the ginger improving blood circulation. Both cakes are moist and come with a side of ice cream, adding a touch of luxury. The cafe is a calm space, perfect for those looking to relax and unwind. Highly recommended for those who want to spend a leisurely time at a cafe.

Gluten-free snacks to be happy about♪ All the snacks here are gluten-free, so you can enjoy them without any worries♪ Even though they are gluten-free, they are still sweet and satisfying. The Gâteau Chocolat costs 600 yen, and the Indonesian coffee costs 600 yen as well. Unfortunately, the ice cream is not vegan, but the Gâteau Chocolat is gluten-free and delicious♪ It is rich and moist, and goes perfectly with the coffee. You need to order and pay in advance, and seating is available on the first floor at some counter seats, and on the second floor with 3 table seats and 2 tatami seats. It has a nice atmosphere with a beautiful machiya style. It was a cozy and relaxing space♪

Located a 6-8 minute walk from Sanjo Station, cafe mag is a hidden gem cafe tucked away in a side street off a street filled with eateries. With a few seats in tatami and table style, the cafe has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. They offer stylish lattes, coffee alternatives, sweets, and more on their menu, making it a great place to take a break during your Kyoto sightseeing. I ordered their popular iced cafe latte this time. Served in a traditional Kyoto-style cup, the classic cafe latte was nicely chilled and helped cool down my body on a hot summer day. The cafe is clean and offers a safe environment for women to enjoy, making it a wonderful place to visit. Thank you for the meal!

I went with a friend who told me about it. The golden spoons are cute! The first floor was full so we went to the second floor, but it was hot because the air conditioning wasn't working well. The drinks and food were both highly rated, but because it was hot, I would rate it 3.4.

The café has a stylish atmosphere with fashionable furniture. There are half-terrace seats and tatami rooms available. It's unusual for a café to require payment upfront, and the manager who conveys this is always unfriendly. The café seems more busy and tired than enjoying running it. It has become extremely popular recently, with lines forming outside with more than 5 groups around 3 pm. I ordered a Gâteau au Chocolat and a hot café latte, but the latte was lukewarm and the Gâteau au Chocolat was overly sweet. The vanilla ice cream was also quite melted when served, which was disappointing. Last time the café latte was really delicious, so it was a bit of a letdown.

I was taken to a super stylish cafe when I was craving for it. It's located in what seems like a back alley, but suddenly there's a beautiful entrance. They have a variety of drinks and sweets, and the interior is really spacious. It's so beautiful and big that I might end up staying for a long time, but there are people waiting in line so lingering is not recommended~
