I ordered at the counter and was given a machine similar to those in food courts, where I would receive my order once it beeped. I tried the taro dessert at this place, but I found the light purple mochi-like texture to have a unique flavor that I didn't particularly enjoy. The dessert itself felt more like soft tofu rather than a typical sweet treat. The yellow mochi had a pleasant sweet potato flavor that I liked. I had tried a more simple and not overly sweet dessert at another shop before, which I preferred, so I decided to explore other Taiwanese dessert shops. Although I appreciated the fact that they served tea, this particular dessert shop didn't quite suit my taste. I hope to discover more Taiwanese dessert shops in the future.

Every 10th, 20th, and 30th of the month, you can get a tapioca milk tea for only 390 yen at Taiwan Ten! The shop is located at Shinjuku 3-36-10, Ainz & Torupe Shinjuku Higashi Exit 2F, just 130m from Shinjuku Station. They are open from 11:00 to 22:00 with irregular holidays. I didn't have to wait in line on a weekday evening. Even though the tapioca boom has passed, there are times when you still crave it. And at Taiwan Ten, you can enjoy it for a great price. Students can get it for 390 yen every day for takeout. If you feel like having tapioca, make sure to visit Taiwan Ten!

It's delicious. I love tapioca and visit this place often. The only downside is that the signal is really bad. Even if you try to open PayPay at the register, it won't work at all. If you plan to pay with PayPay or other apps, I recommend either opening it outside the shop before entering or connecting to the shop's WiFi before paying at the register.

【Good Points】 - If it's not too crowded, it seems like a relaxing place with Taiwanese magazines available. - The interior is cute with seats that have cushions. - They have Wi-Fi. - The douhua (tofu pudding) is delicious with a variety of toppings, giving a good value. I tried grass jelly and Job's tears for the first time, and they were fresh and tasty. It's nice to have new encounters with toppings. - The douhua itself was just average, not too strong in tofu flavor. - The self-service tea is delicious. 【Not-so-Good Points】 - The seats are small, so it might not be suitable for large groups. However, there may not be much demand for large groups in the first place.

The menu was very extensive, and I ordered tapioca milk tea, which had a wide variety of options. I went with the classic tapioca milk tea, and the chewy texture of the tapioca pearls was really good. They offer a student discount, but it seems to be only for takeout, so be aware of that.

I felt like shouting "What on earth is this!" like Yusaku Matsuda for the first time in a long time. This year, the heat has not let up since July, and it's hot both during the day and at night. I was craving something cold, so I went all the way to Shinjuku to get some herbal jelly. Herbal jelly is said to cool your body from the inside, so it's recommended for hot days. During the tapioca boom, there were Taiwanese dessert shops popping up everywhere, but now there are only a few left. Taiwan Sweet Shop is like a solid shop that emerged alongside the Taiwanese dessert shop trend, but this was my first visit. When I went, it was empty. Looking at the menu, it felt a bit pricey overall. I remember thinking that this shop's Taiwanese castella was small but much more expensive compared to other shops during the Taiwanese castella craze. Nevertheless, I stayed true to my initial intention and ordered the Yam Garden Herbal Jelly for 720 yen. Despite being so empty, there were a few staff members standing around, so maybe it gets busier at certain times. They were young, but for some reason, they were unfriendly... After paying, they handed me a buzzer machine you usually get at food courts. Was this really necessary when it's so empty? As expected, as I fumbled to put coins in my wallet, the buzzer went off. I was told, "Warm tea is complimentary" along with the product. It was a small paper cup filled with oolong tea. The eat-in area was cute and had a Taiwanese vibe! This was highly rated. Sitting down, I took a picture. At this point, the portion seemed smaller compared to the menu photo... In Japan, it's rare for the food to look different from the menu photo, but this was a bit... When I stirred it with a spoon, the amount seemed lacking! The yam balls seemed freshly boiled, still retaining some warmth. The shaved ice seemed apologetically floating. When I tasted it, the mixture of warm and cold, along with lukewarm syrup, was unbalanced. Some yam balls were clumped together, giving a sense of sloppiness, with a slimy texture and poor mouthfeel. The herbal jelly had no bitterness at all. This was the smallest portion I've had so far. The brown sugar syrup was too sweet. The only good thing was that coffee cream was served separately. I don't like coffee cream, so this was a relief. I wished it was much colder. It felt like the staff made it without much thought. For this price, it's not worth it. I don't think I'll ever go back. There are other cheaper, tastier, and more generous portioned shops out there. I was very disappointed.

I would appreciate it if you could like, save, or follow:)【Overall】- Taiwanese restaurant in Shinjuku- Currently operating with shortened hours until 8 pm- Around 5 groups waiting around 3 pm on weekends and holidays- Accepts payment methods such as PayPay【Food】- Salted Soy Milk (Xian Dou Jiang) Set 900 yenIncludes Taiwanese tea and a mini dessert. Xian Dou Jiang is a warm soy milk dish commonly eaten for breakfast in Taiwan, with ingredients like Taiwanese fried bread, pickled mustard greens, and shrimp mixed in, creating a slightly firm texture similar to tofu. It was seasoned with vinegar and spicy chili oil, giving it a slightly sour and spicy flavor. The most popular mini dessert chosen was the taro ball grass jelly. The taro ball is a dumpling made from sweet potatoes or taro, with a chewy texture that pairs well with tapioca, grass jelly, and coffee creamer.******We also have an Instagram account, so feel free to check it out.https://www.instagram.com/sss_03gourmet/******

Visited around 5:00 PM on Sunday. The restaurant was full and there was a line forming. A staff member was organizing the seating, and when a table became available, you would be directed to place your order. I waited for about 10 minutes before ordering. Since it was my first time, I chose the hot mixed bean jelly. After paying, I received a buzzer and waited at my table. Most of the tables were for two people, and it was bustling with women in their 20s. The chairs, except for the sofa seats, were not very comfortable, so it was not very relaxing. They had self-service cold water and white peach oolong tea, which had a sweet aroma and was very delicious. It would be nice if they provided larger cups. After waiting for about 5 minutes, the buzzer went off, and I received my dessert. It was not as sweet as I expected, and I was able to finish it easily. The mixed bean jelly contained soft raw peanuts, Job's tears, red beans, sweet potatoes, etc., allowing you to enjoy it without feeling guilty. I wanted to try the taro balls, but they were not included in this dessert. I received a sweet castella cake as a bonus with a coupon that day. It was completely different from Japanese castella, with a light and fluffy texture and a subtle sweetness, which was delicious. I think it would be even better to relax and savor the food when it's less crowded and you can sit on the sofa seats.

My partner and I went shopping in Shinjuku and decided to visit this restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building in front of JR Shinjuku Station East Exit. It was past 2 PM on a weekday and the restaurant was full, so we waited for about 5 minutes outside. We decided to try the "greedy set" which included a choice of one mini dessert from three options, recommended by the poster outside. We ordered the Taiwan breakfast set for ¥1,380 which included braised pork rice, salty soy milk, and mini taro grass jelly. The braised pork rice was different from what I've had before, with finely chopped pork instead of large pork belly pieces. The flavor was more like a cafe-style dish, with a subtle taste and texture. The salty soy milk was a unique dish with added ingredients like fried dough, pickled mustard greens, and chili oil, giving the soy milk a savory and slightly spicy flavor. The mini taro grass jelly dessert was a delightful combination of taro balls, tapioca pearls, and grass jelly in a light syrup. It was a cute and tasty treat. The set also came with a weekly Taiwan tea in a small paper cup, which had a lovely aroma and was delicious. The restaurant offers free-flowing Taiwan tea from a dispenser, but unfortunately, it didn't suit my taste. By adding the restaurant as a friend on LINE using the QR code displayed outside, you can get a coupon for immediate use on the same day.

The lo-lo rice was delicious. I didn't need the soup, so I would have appreciated a salad instead. The tofu was disappointing, not like what I had in Taiwan and it was overpriced. The fruits were not very sweet and the tapioca was partially frozen, so the quality was low.

I saw a sign on the first floor and decided to go in. It's located on the second floor of a building about a 10-second walk from Shinjuku Station. When I visited at 2 pm on a weekday, about 70% of the seats were taken. It's a Taiwanese restaurant, and about 90% of the customers were women. You need to choose your seat first and then place your order. I ordered the "Yuyuan almond tofu" for 720 yen. It had chewy white dumplings made with almond tofu and taro, topped with black honey sauce. I ordered the cold almond tofu, and it was really delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I came to the store to buy Taiwanese castella. I ordered the beef noodle set and was impressed by the dessert included in the set, sweet potato balls with tofu pudding. However, the beef noodles tasted like they were from a retort pouch and were not tasty. Looking around, it seemed like this store is more for desserts than meals. When I finally tried the Taiwanese castella at home, it was disappointing as the texture was dry, possibly due to refrigeration in the store.

It's always delicious and reliable. Today, I had sweet potato, mung bean, and grass jelly toppings. The sweet potato was really chewy and had a great texture! It was so tasty. It was a Saturday around 3 PM, so I waited for about 20 minutes, but it was worth it. I'll definitely go back again!

Taiwan Sweet Shop in Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. They offer Taiwanese sweets such as tofu pudding, taro balls, tapioca, as well as Taiwanese dishes like braised pork rice and beef noodles. As of October 2022, Taiwan Sweet Shop has around 20 stores nationwide, with only two in Tokyo: this Shinjuku store and the one in Tokyo Skytree Solamachi. The Shinjuku store opened in August 2018 and is located on the second floor of Ainz & Tulpe Shinjuku Higashiguchi store. The nearest station is Shinjuku Station, the world's largest terminal. I was craving Taiwanese sweets, so I decided to stop by. Upon entering, you place your order and pay at the counter, then wait at your seat with a notification buzzer. It was lunchtime, so there were customers enjoying noodle dishes and other meals. While waiting, I enjoyed Jasmine tea and a daily special, Kin-sen tea. The Kin-sen tea was calming and soothing, with a gentle milk-like taste. Today's order was the Mixed Douhua for 720 yen. After about 5 minutes, my buzzer went off, and I picked up my order. The dish consisted of douhua in the center, surrounded by taro balls, sweet potatoes, red beans, peanuts, Job's tears, grass jelly, tapioca, and black sugar syrup smoothie. The sweetness was just right, making it easy even for men to enjoy. I particularly like douhua and grass jelly. The sweet potatoes were also delicious. It's a perfect cold dessert for a hot day. I topped up with warm Kin-sen tea and enjoyed the combination of cold and warm. The location is excellent, and surprisingly not too crowded, making it a great place to take a break. #Recommended #TaiwaneseSweets #Douhua #Kin-senTea #TapiocaLover #Sweets #Tapioca #ChineseSweets #TaiwaneseCuisine #Cafe #DessertPlace #ShavedIce #Smoothie #CashlessPaymentAvailable #Wi-FiAvailable #HighPossibilityOfRevisiting (including other branches)

Points: - In addition to tapioca, there is a wide variety of toppings such as nata de coco and tofu pudding! Besides tapioca drinks, they also offer shaved ice, parfaits, and sweet potato snacks, so there are plenty of sweets to choose from! - The store is particular about only serving items that have been made 120 minutes before! - From August 1st, two summer limited drinks using fully ripe mangoes, which are currently popular in Taiwan, have been introduced! They are perfect drinks to beat the hot summer! The mango soda was sold in the summer of 2020 and was very popular, so it is being sold again! Location: Within a 2-minute walk from the Shinjuku Station Lumine Est side exit 🚶‍♀️ Located on the 2nd floor of Ainz & Tulpe Shinjuku Higashi Exit store. Atmosphere: The register seemed wide next to it and the number of seats was fewer than expected, but there is depth in the store and there are quite a few seats with space between them, creating a calming atmosphere. There are also Asian elements with red brick walls, giving off a Taiwanese vibe 😊😊 The female clientele is predominant! Ordered: 1. "Mango Liberation Soda" (680 yen) 2. "Coconut Mango Smoothie" (650 yen) Impressions: 1. The large round mango ice cream floating on top is impressive, with plenty of fresh tapioca hidden at the bottom, making it an innovative idea! The carbonation is very strong, conveying a refreshing feeling! 😊 2. The distinguishing feature of this drink compared to the mango soda is the coconut layer in the middle of the cross-section, which blends fluidly with the mango, making it visually appealing! The large tapioca pearls on top are clearly visible, making it look even more delicious! Passion jasmine jelly and grapefruit pulp are also included! Thoughts: 1. The mango ice cream has a sherbet-like texture that is irresistibly crunchy, with a refreshing acidity that instantly cools down the body and gives a paradise-like feeling! 😊 2. The tapioca's chewy texture stands out, and the goodness of fresh tapioca is most evident in this item! The slight warmth and softness of the coconut's subtly sweet aroma and flavor are also distinctive. The combination of tapioca with coconut or milk-based flavors seems to be a good match! The jelly's bouncy texture and the grapefruit's acidity peeking through the mango flavor allow you to enjoy various flavors! ✌️

The shop is located on the second floor of a building diagonally across from Lumine Est at Shinjuku East Exit. I wanted to try out the tofu pudding, so I got it to go. It was in the evening, but there was a line forming. The line was for those waiting to dine in, while for takeout, there was only a wait for 1-2 groups. There were several types of tofu pudding available, including traditional and almond tofu pudding, but I chose the mixed tofu pudding. It contained tofu pudding, sweet potato, taro, red beans, peanuts, Job's tears, grass jelly, black tapioca, and black honey smoothie - a variety of ingredients. I was surprised by the size of the takeout container, which had two tiers. The bottom tier held black honey and the sweet potatoes, while the top tier was filled with the other ingredients. The sweetness was just right, not too overwhelming. I'd like to try the almond tofu pudding next time.

Taiwanese style crepe for the first time! It was a new item starting from June 1st. At first, it was crispy but then became chewy with a unique texture. I chose the peanut flavor, and if you like peanut flavor in lunch packs, you will definitely love it. I paired it with lassi and tapioca, which matched perfectly, and I finished it in no time. Price: 560 yen for dine-in / 450 yen for takeout (tax included)

I went in the early afternoon (around 2 o'clock) and was able to enter without waiting. I had just watched the movie "Delicious School Lunch Graduation" at the nearby Cinema Carite, so I was very hungry. I had Shengjian (I don't know the kanji) for the first time today, even though I have been to Taiwan a few times. It was delicious. By the way, the metal ladle that comes with Taiwanese cuisine seems to enhance the deliciousness. The customer base is mostly women, and I don't know when I can come again. Next time, I'll try to find a restaurant that serves Taiwanese beer. I hope I can go to Taiwan soon.

I decided to stop by a shop called "甜商店" near Shinjuku station after working a half day on Saturday to buy some Taiwanese Castella cakes as souvenirs for my home. I purchased the following items for takeout: "甜 Castella, Plain" for ¥580 and 4 pieces of "万華 Pineapple Cake" for ¥330 each. The Castella cake came in a box shaped like a 10cm cube with a fine texture and a light, subtly sweet taste similar to a fluffy cheesecake. The price seemed reasonable. The Pineapple Cake was a small rectangular shape with a yellowish color, but it didn't have a strong pineapple flavor as indicated on the packaging. Each piece was a bit pricey at ¥330. Overall, it was my first experience with Taiwanese sweets, and I enjoyed them.

On a holiday, there was a wait of about three groups for snacks. The almond tofu pudding parfait was around 700 yen. It had strawberry sauce, ice cream, cream, almond tofu, fresh tapioca, jelly, and more. It was a bit too sweet for an older person like me, but my wife's sweet potato ball parfait was delicious with its natural sweetness from brown sugar. Darn it. I had a fun time mingling with the younger customers. I'll definitely visit again.
