The main building of Daimaru Shinsaibashi store, which closed in 2015 boasting a 300-year history, completed its reconstruction for the first time in 86 years. Under the concept of "Delight the world - Shinsaibashi that the world admires," the store reopened on September 20th (Friday) as a cutting-edge department store with 368 brands, including 41 stores opening for the first time in Kansai and 47 new business formats. I visited a sweets shop supervised by Chef Kasahara, the owner chef of the Japanese restaurant "Sannshiron" in Tokyo and Nagoya, which has been featured in many media. The photo shows the nostalgic taste of the "Torimasa Pudding" (400 yen), made with 1.5 times more egg yolks than whole eggs. There are plenty of sweets with Kasahara's unique recipes that you can only experience at [Sannshiron].

The Daimaru Shinsaibashi main store, which was rebuilt for the first time in 86 years, finally had its grand opening on September 20th☆彡 The interior and exterior, designed by architect William Merrell Vories, have been faithfully restored. Along with this, a sweets shop supervised by Masahiro Kasahara, known for the Tokyo Ebisu Japanese restaurant "Sanpiroryon," opened its first Kansai branch on the basement floor. Kasahara, a sweets enthusiast since his student days, is selling the "Torimasa Pudding" that he used to serve as the final course. It is made without preservatives or artificial colors, using plenty of whole eggs to create a luxurious dessert. The name of the pudding comes from Kasahara's family yakitori restaurant, "Torimasa." The store at Daimaru Shinsaibashi Main Building has a traditional department store feel, with an open layout and a more Japanese confectionery style. They also sell cookies, and the staff are dressed in traditional Japanese work attire. As a big fan of pudding, I purchased the following item: - Torimasa Pudding 432 yen The pudding has a firm texture with a rich egg flavor, and is slightly crumbly rather than smooth and jiggly. The sweetness is very subtle, making it appealing to those who don't like overly sweet desserts. The plastic container used for the pudding was a bit disappointing, as it had a noticeable plastic smell. While it may not bother some people, it may be a concern for those used to glass containers like those from Morozoff. Overall, the pudding was a good dessert option for a Japanese meal, but I prefer desserts served in ceramic dishes with silverware. The name of the shop, "Sanpiroryon," which means "controversial opinions," suggests a bold and daring attitude, so I hope my honest review is taken in that spirit. Thank you for the meal♡

I went to the newly renovated Daimaru to buy some snacks again. I bought a pudding from a shop with mixed reviews. The description said it has a solid taste, and it was true. It didn't have the typical smooth texture of pudding, but rather a firm custard-like texture. The sweetness was moderate. It might be good for those who like firmer puddings. Personally, I thought it was quite decent. It's a flavor that could go either way, with mixed opinions.

I received some anko roll sweets from the Ankororin company. It seems that Chef Kasahara wanted to become a pastry chef, and he creates sweets for course meals with a lot of attention to ingredients and methods. The anko has a unique twist with added flavors. There are three types: black sesame, white miso yuzu, and black honey kinako. The dough seems to use almond powder, which might be why it crumbles a lot and is quite difficult to eat. It has a simple and light texture, almost like a light egg yolk ball. The anko is subtly sweet and crumbly. My favorite was the black honey kinako, but overall, the difficulty in eating and the overly light taste left something to be desired.

I received this as a souvenir. Mr. Kasahara, who is known for having mixed reviews, recently appeared on TV making children's bento lunches, which was very impressive. And now he has created these sweets, called "Ankororin". They are bite-sized treats with a unique filling wrapped in a gentle dough. Inside, there are fillings like white miso yuzu, black sesame, and black honey kinako. I personally thought the white miso yuzu was the most delicious. The dough is also delicious, like a cookie. The cute icons on the surface of Ankororin were drawn by Mr. Kasahara himself. It was delicious.
