Now, for the food... - Chicken char siu appetizer...? yen - Nushima hiramomo... 1,280 yen - Homemade straw-grilled bonito tataki... 980 yen - Spaghetti salad... 380 yen - Fried eggplant... 480 yen - New burdock tempura... 380 yen - Oden with thick fried tofu and egg...? yen - Hokkaido sea urchin gunkan sushi... 980 yen - Indian tuna medium fatty tuna sushi... 480 yen Nushima is the hiramomo of Awaji Island. The texture is different and delicious! The bonito tataki has a nice smoky aroma that lingers in the nose. The spaghetti salad and fried eggplant are must-order dishes. And to finish, the Hokkaido sea urchin gunkan sushi. The quality and quantity for 980 yen is amazing! The oden also has a gentle broth that seeps into the ingredients. Ah, it was delicious! I came to Housute after a long time! There are many restaurants I want to visit in Housute, but this heat is unbearable! I decided to escape to a reliable old-fashioned izakaya near the station. "Izakaya Daimaruya," it's been a while. It's a traditional izakaya that would make Inogashira Goro and Yoshida Rui happy in the downtown area! We were seated at a 4-person table and started with a cheers with draft beer. Ah, delicious! Now, let's order focusing on today's recommended menu. - Tuna sushi roll - Sashimi platter with bonito, conger eel, Indian tuna, sword squid - Black wagyu beef tataki - Fried eggplant - Spaghetti salad - Asparagus fry - Yakitori - Sushi with Hokkaido sea urchin gunkan, shrimp mayo roll You can't go wrong with any of these dishes, a sense of security. Well, we drank and ate a lot, but it was more expensive than we thought. It cost 13,000 yen for two people, and we only had chu-hai and highballs. We ate quite a bit though.

I found a convenient place near the station to meet up with friends and have a drink. We entered without any prior research, but it turned out to be a great choice. The fresh and juicy fish dishes were delightful. They had a variety of shochu and sake brands, which made me want to come back for more tastings. The location is right in front of the police station facing the north rotary of the station, making it easy to specify the meeting spot via email or other means. Convenient, casual, and delicious - a perfect combination.

During a busy period, I couldn't update my food blog as my personal projects overlapped. On a Wednesday night during a very busy period, after finishing a meeting in Housu, I started feeling hungry around 9 pm. So, I decided to enter the long-established izakaya "Daimaruya" in front of JR Housu Station. This was my second visit, and I noticed that the signs outside were new. The interior of the restaurant remained the same, with a traditional atmosphere. I sat at a 4-person table by the wall and started with a draft beer to quench my thirst. I looked at the standard menu on the table and the daily recommended menu near the entrance (which was hard to see from my seat) and discussed with my companion what to order. The daily recommendations included sashimi and nigiri sushi, with a sophisticated lineup such as: - Boiled octopus (appetizer) - Spaghetti salad - Simmered octopus - Rolled omelette with broth - Live Akashi octopus sashimi - Horse mackerel fry - Tempura of natural Kishu shrimp My impression was that "you can't underestimate the long-established izakayas in Housu!" Even the boiled octopus appetizer was excellent in terms of taste, flavor, and tenderness. The live Akashi octopus sashimi was prepared with the suction cups and thin skin removed, enhancing its softness and sweetness as you chew. The suction cup part was served later as a small dish with ponzu sauce and grilled green onion sprinkled on top. The crispy horse mackerel fry was incredibly thick, and the tempura shrimp was crunchy and delicious. The food at this long-standing izakaya did not disappoint. There is definitely a reason why this restaurant has been around for so long. Next time, I'll come a bit earlier and try the "mackerel Matsunae sushi" and various seafood dishes that caught my eye today. Thank you, Daimaruya, for the wonderful meal!

This place is located about a 1-minute walk from JR Gakken Toshi Line Hoso Station. There is a large sign around the corner from the police box on the right side of the station rotary, so it should be easy to find. Inside the store, there are 10 counter seats and 4 seats for 4 people each, smoking is allowed. There is a TV at the back. First, try the Robert Brown Highball for 380 yen. The whiskey flavor is somewhat light. The appetizer is fish roe-based, with a refreshing light saltiness. The snack is a large oyster with a shell that caught my attention in the showcase. The shell is about 15cm long and the meat is quite large (laughs). The meat is over 10cm long, so it's quite a task to eat it (^^;) It has a milky, melting sweetness, so just squeezing lemon on it is enough. It would be difficult to eat this kind of oyster if it were fried, so it's better to eat it raw. It was written that it is from Noto and costs 1180 yen. Next, I ordered the tuna and yam topping from the menu. There were about 7 pieces of sliced tuna and egg yolks in it. The yam is smooth, and the lightly soy sauce-flavored taste goes well with the richness of the egg yolk (^^) It's nice to have egg yolk with tuna. It also comes with chopped seaweed and wasabi, which goes well with sake. Lemon Highball for 380 yen. This also has a light alcohol flavor. It feels like lemon juice with a little shochu added. Well, it might be just right for those who are not good with alcohol. But with this, you might not get drunk even after drinking 10 cups. Well, if you drink 10 cups, you'll be full anyway (^^;) The total was 2870 yen. Judging by the sign of the store with pictures of turtle and blowfish, I think seafood is their specialty. The alcohol I had this time was not great, but it might be good to try sake or beer that doesn't dilute the alcohol.

Hello everyone! After two years, I visited the restaurant with Famikura Sensei and he asked, "Are you drinking somewhere?" So I was forced to meet up in Hodokoshi! Famikichi and Famikura, Hodokoshi once again! I ordered Tama Himo simmered in soy sauce, as Famikura always orders something I can't eat. We had oden, stir-fried hormone, and I enjoyed some warm sake. This restaurant is always a good place to drink. It may seem like going to a bar is for adults, but going to this izakaya might also be considered an adult thing, right? The place is always bustling and the atmosphere is great. The friendly chef makes the experience even better. This izakaya is probably my favorite in Hodokoshi. It feels like stepping into a place from the Showa era. Despite the redevelopment of Hodokoshi station, this place remains warm and unchanged. I had some vinegar miso whale meat, which I love, and some delicious whitefish sushi. I hope to visit Toyama someday and try the local whitefish dumplings. The whitefish sushi was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

At the station in Hodasu, I always saw this place and thought to myself, "I'll go in there someday!" But years passed without ever getting the chance until today (bitter smile). And finally, that day came suddenly with "Nari-san and Ro-san's casual drinking trip in Hodasu Station" series... - Boiled octopus balls: $3.80 - Stir-fried offal: forgot the price - Kinka mackerel nigiri (seared): $4.80 Nari senior, who is picky and only eats expensive fish and offal from Shinchi, surprisingly decided to eat the stir-fried offal (empty look). On the other hand, this old man only eats cheap stuff (bitter smile). The boiled octopus balls are amazing! They are seasoned perfectly and taste great (impressed). Usually, offal dishes have a strong flavor, but this one has just the right amount of broth and fish powder as a nice accent. I noticed the words "Kinka mackerel" and when the seared nigiri arrived, it was covered in kelp. Kelp and mackerel go surprisingly well together (surprised). Topped with wasabi, it was really delicious! As for the stir-fried offal and oden, Nari senior enjoyed them alone, so I'll refrain from commenting (bitter smile). This place seems to be loved by the local old men for its great taste.

2016/01 The first drink of the year was at Daimaruya after a long time. As expected in the new year, they asked, "How about some simmered fish?" but it's not available yet at the market. The fisherman also said it's still New Year's. So, we ordered grilled yellowtail with salt. We had two cups of hot sake. They said it's a New Year's gift. Now, how will the yellowtail with salt taste? They picked out yellowtail or amberjack from the case. It was delicious. We'll have one drink in the cold winter and head home. The bill was 1620 yen. I'm not sure, but 900 yen for two cups of hot sake, 600 yen for the yellowtail with salt, and maybe a cover charge? Hmm, it's always cheap here, so my sense might be numb. Thank you for the meal. 2014/06 Houda is a long-established place with Akasaka-san and Daimaru-san. Daimaru-san also had a sushi restaurant in the back. I was told by a company salesperson, "There's no cellphone store in Houda," and I realized that recently, more shops have opened up and it's becoming more like a station area. Daimaruya has been supporting the old station area for a long time. They are open from around noon, making it perfect for a casual drink during breaks. There are big chain izakaya restaurants opening up nearby. Good luck to them. They also value their regular customers. However, those who are not regulars may not feel as welcomed. My parents had a chance to eat at a restaurant they often go to. It seemed like a small, family-run place. The atmosphere was cozy, and even though it was quite crowded, we decided to order. The food was not bad, actually quite delicious, but it felt like it wouldn't taste as good anywhere else. The sashimi was okay, not the best for the price. However, the chicken wings were really tasty. I recommend trying them. Personally, I found the taste to be average. But the staff were all friendly and kind, so you can relax and enjoy your meal.
