I ate a variety of dishes such as assorted sashimi, fried cartilage, squid with seaweed salt yakisoba, ray fin, fried octopus, and rolled sushi, right near the east exit of Shin-Osaka station (a bit lonely side). I received a 5% discount with the Umenohana shareholder benefits card.

It's been a while since I went to a solo izakaya. I received 2000 yen worth of support for a nationwide trip, so I splurged on what I wanted to eat. I was full. Grilled saury, squid yakisoba, monkfish Karaage, tuna nigiri, and sake from Echigo Uonuma (Niigata).

Around 2010, I went to a restaurant alone to have some drinks. I started by ordering a beer verbally and then used the touch panel to choose some snacks. The prices listed are excluding tax. The appetizer was potato salad for 250 yen, which had a standard taste but I like it so I was happy. The black oden assortment for 399 yen consisted of eggs, thick fried tofu, konjac, and daikon radish all cooked in a dark broth. It had a rich flavor that would go well with rice, and the generous portions left me feeling satisfied. The gure sashimi for 349 yen was made from a fish called "gure" that I hadn't heard of before. I looked it up and found out it's similar to sea bream and belongs to the sea bass family. The white flesh was delicious and the serving size was ample. I passed the time by playing with the touch panel, chatting with the staff, and sending emails, but I felt lonely drinking alone. Despite the declining trend, Sakura Suisan's New Osaka Higashi-guchi branch is still lively. I hope they open a branch in Tsukuba too.

When you exit from the east exit of Shin-Osaka Station, you will find a quiet neighborhood. In other words, it has a cozy atmosphere. We went to Sakura Suisan for our third round. The sashimi and oden were comforting and delicious. As expected from a seafood restaurant, the sashimi was decent. For those looking for a reasonably priced and decent izakaya, this is a convenient option. Thank you for the meal~

A former budget izakaya that blames everything on the coronavirus and has given up on corporate efforts. The official website lists prices for dishes, but in reality, the prices can vary by as much as 200 yen for the same item. They take advantage of visitors to Shin-Osaka, as well as attendees of nearby rental meeting rooms and seminars. It used to be a budget-friendly izakaya, but now it has become overpriced. The only advantage is its proximity to Shin-Osaka Station. Recently, there are no worthy menu items to order. I have been going there for about 4-5 years, but the more I go, the less I want to return.

The seafood izakaya's popular "Dai-gyomori" platter has increased by 200 yen in the past year, with a decrease in quality. The individual all-you-can-drink option has gone up from 1280 yen to 1380 yen, and a beer-less drink option has been introduced for 980 yen. However, the overall prices have become less affordable due to the noticeable price hikes, causing customers to look for better options elsewhere.

Recently opened in the east exit of Shin-Osaka, this seafood izakaya is a branch of a famous Tokyo restaurant. The prices were surprisingly cheap, so I would definitely visit again, regardless of the taste. - Restaurant: Sakura Suisan - Atmosphere: Dark and somewhat gloomy, located underground with smoking allowed. Orders are taken using an Android tablet, which may have a slow response and low resolution. - Food: - Recommended: Sanma sashimi for 219 yen, fresh and delicious. New Sanma bone crackers for only 97 yen, slightly bitter but good as a snack. - Average: Sweet shrimp tempura for 313 yen, crispy but not outstanding. Ray fin tempura for 313 yen, mildly seasoned with little odor. - Not Recommended: Striped Hokke dried overnight for 529 yen, small and slightly smelly. Octopus wasabi with a lot of thick parts, feels like it's been watered down. Chikuwa isobue age is mediocre with too much filler. Fish sausage is disappointing with only 4 pieces for a price that wasn't worth it. - Drinks: Medium beer for 421 yen, Sapporo Black Label. Ebisu bottled beer for 637 yen. - Overall: Spent around 3000 yen for four hours, which is quite cheap considering the location near Shin-Osaka Station. Despite being hard to find underground, the quality is comparable to those in Nishinakajima Minamigata. Will definitely visit again.

There are not many cheap lunch options around Shin-Osaka Station, possibly because it caters to business travelers and tourists. However, this place stands out as one of the few where you can eat for a reasonable price. The lunch here is incredibly fast and affordable. You can get your meal within 30 seconds of handing over the ticket you bought from the machine. Even during peak lunch hours, with a capacity of over 100 people, you rarely have to wait. The lunch menu offers two daily specials for 500 yen each, with one being fish-based and the other fried. They also have a mackerel miso stew set for 580 yen and a sashimi set for 680 yen. All sets come with unlimited rice, raw egg, miso soup, and pickles. The fried dishes are not freshly made but pre-cooked (although sometimes you might get freshly fried ones), and the fish dishes are nothing extraordinary. This is not a place to visit for gourmet flavors, but in terms of cost, portion size, and speed, there are not many places in the area that can compete. In the evening, it turns into a seafood izakaya, still offering very affordable prices.

In Osaka today, I had lunch with my friends who are studying together, along with our teacher. The teacher recommended a seafood restaurant, so the main dishes were fish. They had a daily special lunch where you could choose between two main dishes: bonito sashimi or horse mackerel fry, croquette, and pork skewers. I chose the horse mackerel fry! The meal came with rice, miso soup, raw egg, and pickles, and it was all you can eat. We went a bit late so the restaurant was not crowded, which was nice. The food was quick, cheap, and delicious, perfect for salarymen. The restaurant is conveniently located near the station, making it a great find for those who come from far away. We had a great time chatting and eating, so even though I couldn't fully savor the food, the bonito looked fresh and delicious. The izakaya menu also seemed like a good deal, so it would be great for dinner too. What I learned was that izakaya lunches are often a hit, and food tastes better when you're having fun with good company!

Update: This time, I used the restaurant for lunch. I bought a meal ticket, served myself rice, miso soup, raw egg, pickles, and seaweed (all you can eat), and then waited for the ordered side dish to be brought to me. The mackerel miso stew was okay, priced at 580 yen, and just like at night, it's a reasonable place to eat until you're full! Thank you for the meal. I used it alone. It's a place where you can drink cheaply and casually. There was a poster for a party course at the store, and I found out that if you make a reservation by phone in advance, you can get a free bottle of shochu or a bottle of sake. I have never received it before, but it seems like you have to ask for it at the time of payment. Update: It's a 2800 yen course with all-you-can-drink for a party. It includes sashimi platter, tai shabu-shabu, salad, fried food, sushi, and dessert. It's a very cost-effective party course. For large parties in Shin-Osaka, I have been using this place recently. This time, I was concerned about the smell of the sea bream, but other than that, it was a satisfying party! Update: Once again, I used the 2800 yen (excluding tax) course with all-you-can-drink for a party, which is a great deal! It includes assorted sashimi, crab salad, hors d'oeuvres, sushi, and dessert (choux ice cream). It was sufficient for a party with many men and a lot of drinking. It seems that you can also get free sake or shochu as a bonus by making a reservation by phone in advance. Thank you for the meal. I visited a restaurant for a party, which is known to be cheap and has a good image in the Kanto region. This time, I used the winter party course (with all-you-can-drink) for 3500 yen (excluding tax). The Caesar salad, sea bream sashimi, tai shabu-shabu, hors d'oeuvres, and other dishes were sufficient. The quality of the fish and other items seems to match the price. The sea bream, in particular, had a slightly fishy smell, which was disappointing, but considering the price, it's acceptable. There were many young part-time staff, and they seemed a bit inexperienced due to the busyness, but overall, I understand that all of this is due to the low prices. It may not be a place I would visit often as an individual. Thank you for the meal!

On October 5, 2016, I had dinner at a restaurant where my friend from Taiwan had booked accommodation nearby. The "Dai-Ryo Sashimi Platter" was affordable and luxurious, but the freshness was a bit lacking. We had some appetizers for 250 yen, which was a curry-flavored potato salad. The Dai-Ryo Sashimi Platter was 990 yen and very extravagant, but the freshness was not the best. We also ordered the Dai-Ryo Sushi Platter for 990 yen, which came with sea urchin and salmon roe. The Hormone Stir-Fry for 390 yen was cooked with fresh pond smelt. We tried the Fried Daikon for 280 yen, a unique menu item with a generous portion that we couldn't finish. The Garlic Fried for 190 yen was cheap and delicious. We also had large and medium sizes of draft beer for 680 yen and 390 yen, respectively, as well as a Sea Cucumber Highball for 390 yen. There were still more dishes we wanted to try, so we will definitely be going back.

It was my first time visiting this place, or rather I got lost and decided to take a break here! I had no idea about the system of the restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised by the generous amount of sashimi in the lunch set. It's nice to see that there are places like this in the city! Honestly, I didn't understand the system for ordering rice and miso soup, but since it wasn't too crowded, the staff helped me out. Thank you! It was a good time to visit when it seemed like no one else knew about it, and I enjoyed eating plenty of food by myself.

This restaurant operates with a thorough cost reduction strategy, so all orders are placed through a touch panel and there is no menu available. Despite being named a seafood restaurant, the confidence in their fish was not apparent when I ordered a sashimi platter. The dish arrived in about 5 minutes, but the quality of the fish seemed questionable. The draft beer tasted like it hadn't been cleaned or maintained properly. Looking at their website, it seems like they are just a seafood izakaya and not a company specializing in seafood products. It's no wonder the prices are so low. It's interesting to see that despite the lack of competition on the southwest side of Shin-Osaka Station, this place still manages to attract customers. I regret expressing interest in trying it out, as I feel sorry for the person I met for the first time. Thank you for the meal.

Here, I've noticed this before in different places, but this restaurant is located in an area where there are hardly any other shops. In a way, it's convenient. It was Sunday evening, so there were very few customers and we were able to relax. The food, including drinks, is all reasonably priced. The taste is average, but the menu is extensive with a focus on fish dishes. It's nice that they have daily specials. The touch screen ordering system is convenient, especially in chain restaurants where there isn't much interaction with the staff. If I come across another place like this with nothing else around, I would definitely go in again (laughs).

A well-known Kansai-based lunch blog owner has mentioned that "daily lunch is a serious issue," and I strongly agree with that. The struggle of deciding between "Is it okay to just get something from the convenience store?" or "No, I want a set meal," or "Maybe Mos Burger..." or "How about a beef bowl?" or "Feeling fancy, let's go for the over 1,000 yen tonkatsu..." It's getting to the point where work is being neglected. And the more you worry, the more likely you are to make a mistake. It's been six months since I last visited here. I had the 500 yen lunch at Sakura Suisan. They have daily specials for both A and B lunches (500 yen), and a few other options like mackerel miso stew or sashimi set meal (around 650 yen?). Today, I chose the grilled horse mackerel from the A set. It was served in an instant, which made me wonder if it was pre-made. The horse mackerel was served whole, not filleted. Let's dig in. "Oh no..." Yes, even though the restaurant is named Suisan (fishery), the fish here is just "average." Rice, egg, and seaweed are all-you-can-eat, but with the main dish being like this... It's rare to have such a lunch that makes you feel so obviously disappointed. Depending on the menu, it might be worth 300 yen at best (personal opinion...). As for the B set, it often includes fried or stir-fried dishes, which also tend to leave a disappointing feeling... But it's 500 yen, so what can you do. Still, it's a bit tough to accept. Perhaps it's the location in Shin-Osaka? There are no bento shops around the station, and inside the station there are only expensive tourist-oriented restaurants. You have to go all the way to Nishinakajima-Minamigata or Higashi-Mikuni to find good restaurants... But the motivation to go that far is not always there. If anyone knows of a good restaurant and says, "This place is great," please let me know. Thank you for the meal.

Cheap seafood izakaya "Sakura Suisan" at Shin-Osaka. Located near the east exit of Shin-Osaka Station, the cheap seafood izakaya "Sakura Suisan Shin-Osaka Higashi-guchi branch" offers a grand menu with affordable items. You can order using a touch panel on the table. Most of the staff are Chinese with limited Japanese language skills, hence the use of touch panels for ordering. The menu includes items like tuna sashimi (313 yen), amberjack sashimi (324 yen), okra with grated radish (270 yen), and tuna green salad (205 yen). There are also 8 kinds of warm vegetables (378 yen) for a slightly higher price. You can enjoy cheese fondue-style with cheese and a bottle of sake "Sakura Kokoro" (194 yen). They also serve a popular dish called "tofu cold dish" made with a whole block of tofu (194 yen) and cucumber pickles (216 yen). The prices are very cheap, with items like "mezashi" (dried fish) for only 108 yen and shoe ice cream for 108 yen. They also offer a hot turmeric shochu drink (302 yen). The restaurant proudly displays signs stating that "Japanese cuisine" has been registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, and they focus on serving traditional Japanese dishes.
