On April 28, 2019 (Sunday), I had lunch with a friend and their family who came from Korea to attend my eldest son's wedding. We have been friends for 25 years and both work as distributors for two German companies in Korea. About 20 years ago, I introduced them to a company in Korea when they were just starting out after being asked by a German company if I knew of any good companies in Korea. Since then, their company has been successful and I often seek their advice as well. The president has a strong, sniper-like appearance, but his wife is a former actress, so their two daughters are quite beautiful. These two daughters have been studying in New Zealand since they were young, and they happened to be home on spring break, so they attended the wedding with us. It's no wonder there was no resistance to speaking English in conversation. We met at the hotel at 12 o'clock and were unsure of where to go as everywhere in Shin-Osaka Station was full. So, we decided to head to the Saizeriya that had been reviewed by a fellow reviewer known as the "pink elephant(?)" even though it was a bit far. When you think about it, the wine is cheap and there's a drink bar for the kids, so it's perfect! Our orders included: for the friend's family, two draft beers for 399 yen each (including tax), two kids' drink bar for 110 yen each, soft chicken salad for 299 yen, warm green bean salad for 199 yen, garlic grilled mussels for 399 yen, chorizo for 399 yen, soup-filled tomato flavored bongo for 499 yen, aglio e olio for 299 yen, mozzarella pizza for 499 yen, milk gelato for 199 yen, Sicilian lemon sorbet for 199 yen. For us, two draft beers for 399 yen each (including tax), white wine (Verdecchio) for 1,080 yen, warm green bean salad for 398 yen, garlic grilled mussels for 399 yen. It had been 10 years since we last met, and I felt that the family-style restaurant might be a bit too casual for a reunion celebration, but everyone seemed satisfied as we were able to enjoy ourselves comfortably at a spacious table. I was amazed by the growth of the older sister who had spent 10 years in New Zealand! The conversation with my friend's family was all in English, making everything progress very smoothly. All in all, Saizeriya was a hit! Next, we're heading to Abeno Harukas!
