Located a 5-minute walk from Tennoji Station, on the 4th floor of Apollo Building along Abiko Street, is the "Abeno Apollo Cinema Food Stall" within the Abeno Apollo Cinema. In mid-January, I visited before watching a movie. First, I placed my order at the counter. On this day, I ordered the "Tonkatsu Sandwich Drink (M) Set" for 900 yen. After paying, I waited for about 3 minutes for it to be heated in the microwave, and then received the Tonkatsu sandwich and a drink of "Oolong tea (M)". Since there was a counter in the lobby of the waiting area, I decided to eat the sandwich there. Upon opening the bag, the Tonkatsu sandwich was very hot due to being heated in the microwave! I tried it right away, but the bread and the Tonkatsu had become quite soggy from absorbing steam during heating. The bag said it would be delicious even without heating it in the microwave, so personally, I thought it would have been better not to heat it. I finished it quickly and headed to the theater with my drink as it was time for the show to start. Thank you for the meal.

I went to see Jurassic World: Dominion! It was my second time watching a movie at Apollo Cinema, and it felt a bit cramped compared to TOHO theaters. Today, I had some errands in Tennoji in the evening, so I ended up at this movie theater. I usually have popcorn as a movie snack, but since I had eaten breakfast twice in the morning, I wasn't hungry and just wanted something sweet. I checked out the food counter and found something interesting - Stick Crepe (Maple Pudding). They handed it to me frozen, so I had to work on warming it up with my hands. It took a while to soften, but when I finally tried it, it was really sweet! It was too sweet for me, so I only had half. The crepe was thin, with vanilla ice cream wrapped inside and maple-flavored chunks in between. The pudding was okay, but I probably wouldn't want to eat it again. Popcorn is still the best movie snack!

It's been a while since I last went to the movie theater. I watched "Evangelion". Due to the pandemic, the rules have changed, and I couldn't eat until the movie started... I had an "American Dog Set (650 yen)" and "Popcorn/Caramel Flavor (350 yen)". The taste was unique to the movie theater ( ̄▽ ̄)

Located on the 8th floor of Abeno Lucias. It's the store on the Apollo Cinema 3-8 screen side. I'm not sure how many times I've used it, but I haven't posted any reviews. I didn't have time to watch the Batman spin-off movie "Joker," so I decided to use it for the first time in a while. The menu has been increasing year by year, especially the variety of popcorn. But the amount is too much, so I stopped and chose a hot dog single item for ¥300, set for ¥550. The drink is a Minute Maid orange M, but with a lot of crushed ice, so it quickly becomes diluted. The hot dog is a sausage sandwiched in bread, warmed in the microwave, and mustard and ketchup are served separately.

Watched "Last Night's Dinner What Did You Eat?" at Apollo Cinema. Bought a hot coffee at the concession stand. I was hoping that movie theater food had improved these days, but...hmm. Hot Coffee - 350 yen. I only go to the movies about 0-2 times a year. 1. If I wait about half a year, I can probably watch it on TV, but I want to see it while it's still new! 2. If I miss this opportunity, I might not be able to see it on TV. 3. Old movies that I want to see on a big screen. Those are the only ones I go to see. I go mostly for reason number 2. Today's movie was for reason number 1. It was interesting! ♡

I took a coffee break. I had a hot coffee size S for 250 yen as of January 2017. It was a bit too hot, but it was nice to take a break.

The iced coffee was too sour to drink... I think canned coffee is still better.

I watched a movie at Aporo Cinema, the last one being "Anata e" starring Takakura Ken. I knew there was a concession stand here, but I didn't know they did reviews here. I came to eat soft serve ice cream, avoiding the popcorn. It had been so long since I last had soft serve ice cream, I couldn't remember. There are table seats prepared for those waiting for the movie screening on the side. The 4th floor is quiet, so you can eat slowly. The vanilla soft serve ice cream costs 300 yen (tax included) as of May 2016. It's been probably 20 years since I last had soft serve ice cream. It was big and seemed like it would never end. I had to really try hard to finish it. The building is temperature-controlled and shielded from the sun, so the ice cream doesn't melt. The staff at the food corner watched me struggle to finish the soft serve ice cream. I gave up after eating three-quarters of it. It was big for me, but the soft serve ice cream I had after a long time was delicious.

Today I came to watch Chihayafuru at the cinema. The movie is often shown at Apollo Cinema or Toho Cinema in Namba. I come here about three times a year. Today, I got a medium-sized popcorn for 250 yen (tax included), soft serve ice cream for 350 yen (tax included), and a medium-sized oolong tea. The recommended item at Apollo Cinema is the soft serve ice cream with cornflakes, pudding, and rainbow sprinkles. The pudding is delicious and goes well with the soft serve ice cream. However, the popcorn today was quite stale and lacked salt. The cinema was also quite crowded.

[May 2016] After having a meal at Hikariya in Tennoji MIO, we came to Abeno Apollo Cinema. Today, we are watching the movie "Detective Conan: Pure Black Nightmare." We took a commemorative photo before the movie. Chibitsunu: "Let's sit here!" Boki chose this spot. We bought popcorn and cola at the concession stand and we are all set. This movie is the 20th installment of the Conan series, focusing on a black-clad organization. The story ties in with the original manga, and Akai and Amuro are really cool. If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to check it out. The pamphlet this time is thicker and more luxurious than usual, with a cover that pops out. It was an interesting read. Bonus: The theme song of the movie is great, and it's also the opening song for the anime, with really cool visuals!
[May 2014] It's Tsunukko and Chibitsunu! We came to Abeno Apollo Cinema to watch the movie "Detective Conan: Dimensional Sniper." Of course, we got popcorn and cola. This time, there are scenes that go beyond the original manga, with some unique visuals that can only be done in the movie (anime). It was worth watching. People who have been to Tokyo Skytree might enjoy it even more. (Our visit to Tokyo Skytree → here)
[May 2009] It's Tsunukko! I came to Abeno Apollo Cinema to watch the movie "Star Trek." It's the 40th anniversary of the original series. I got hooked on the TV drama version on CS. Popcorn is a must when watching a movie, right? It's delicious with just the right amount of salt. Oh, it was so fun! It was too fun, and it turned out like this. Can you tell who this is? It's not Mr. Spock... It's Mr. Ts'pock! I also got the pamphlet.
[March 2015 Update] Leonard Nimoy, who played Mr. Spock, passed away on February 27th last month. He had guest appearances in the 2009 "Star Trek" and 2013 "Star Trek Into Darkness" movies, so it's sad to think we won't see Spock anymore...

Before watching the movie, I purchased a small size (S size) oolong tea for 250 yen (tax included). Even though it's called a small size, the cup is as big as a medium size cup at a fast food restaurant. I don't like ice in my drink, so they always kindly remove the ice for me, and they are quick and efficient from serving to payment. This movie theater is very fair, and I support them. When other theaters raised their service day price to 1,100 yen due to the tax increase, this theater kept it at 1,000 yen for a year (although it was raised to 1,100 yen from April 2015). I am a member of Apollo Cinema and receive their newsletters, and this time the movie I went to see was eligible for a free small size popcorn as a service, so I showed them the newsletter and they gave it to me as a gift. The salted flavor was delicious. Next time, I will buy it myself.
