It's been a while since I last visited. The taste is still consistent and delicious as always. Everything was delicious, and even though we ate and drank a lot, we were so engrossed in chatting that we forgot to take photos. The atmosphere was cozy, and I would like to go again soon. ♫

Today is the weekend, and as usual, I went out for drinks with my friend H. We visited a place called "Torikura" on this day. Upon entering the restaurant, we took off our shoes and went inside. We didn't have a reservation, but luckily there were two seats available at the counter, so we sat there. The rest of the seats were all reserved. The restaurant is not very big, with only 6 counter seats and 4 table seats for 8 people. We started with lemon sour and grapefruit sour for a toast. Since it seemed like a chicken restaurant, we ordered some yakitori. I had gizzard, skin, and chicken wings. The background music in the restaurant was jazz, which didn't quite match the atmosphere. We also ordered the "Torikura Nabe" for 1900 yen, which was meant for about 2 people. It had a variety of ingredients like Chinese cabbage, thin fried tofu, shiitake mushrooms, chicken meatballs, burdock, tofu, onions, watercress, konjac, pork, carrots, chicken, enoki mushrooms, bean sprouts, and macaroni. The food was pretty good, but there were many regular customers around, giving us a bit of an outsider feeling. The staff and customers seemed to know each other well, making us feel a bit left out. Overall, it was a delicious meal. Thank you for the feast!

I went to a yakitori restaurant called "Honkaku Sumibi Yaki Jizake Torizou" located near Minami-ku Ohashi. It's about a 5-minute walk from Ohashi Station, close to Daikyo Value. The entrance is a bit small, where you take off your shoes before entering the restaurant. Inside, there are 6 counter seats and a few tatami seats. It was quite crowded today. One thing that catches everyone's attention is the yellow sign on the wall with various types of sake and shochu displayed. The prices are reasonable, which is great. When you come to Torizou, you feel like drinking local sake, so today we all decided to go for it. I had the "Shimane Karakuchi Junmai Ouroku" (large 500ml, small 250ml). Of course, I went for the large size. Sake comes in large and small sizes, which is perfect for those who want to try different types. We also ordered the usual "liver sashimi," "chicken skin," "handmade tsukune," and "sand lizard karaage." Then, I had the "Fukui Junmai Ginjo Kokuryu" (large 550ml, small 300ml) and another round of the same. And another round. It's time to leave before I can't walk. The bill came to around 2,000 yen per person since we didn't eat too much.

"Located right next to Nishitetsu Ohashi Station, the restaurant has good access to public transportation. The interior is typical of a yakitori restaurant, not particularly spacious. Despite the decor that may seem geared towards older men, the place was actually filled with young girls! At least half of the customers were young women. Even the group at the table next to mine consisted of 5 young ladies. There were also many women at the counter seats. It was a bit surprising for a not-so-trendy restaurant. However, it was a popular spot as it was packed even on a Thursday. The food was undeniably delicious. I started with the 'Torikura Omakase 950 yen course' (5 skewers, seasonal vegetable salad, cold tofu, and shishamo nanban). The 5 skewers for this price was a great deal. The skewers were big and tasty! Among the various skewers we ordered as a group, the 'Bonbochi' was particularly delicious. It was my first time trying it. It's a rare cut of meat from the chicken's rear end, with only one piece available per bird. It was a special and flavorful meat with a good texture. The 'Torikura Nabe' (I believe it was around 1100 yen for one portion, but the portion size was for two) was also delicious. It had an impressive volume and a unique soup flavor. Another notable feature of this restaurant was the wide variety of sake and shochu available. There were quite a lot of options to enjoy. Thanks to that, I ended up drinking too much sake."

I met up with an old colleague after a long time and we decided to have a meal at a restaurant she used to frequent. When we entered, the narrow interior had a counter and a few old tables. It was mostly filled with men, about 80%. The walls above the counter were covered with yellow signs listing the menu. They seemed to have a good selection of the sake we were looking for, so we ordered a variety of yakitori and chicken sashimi as appetizers. While catching up on each other's lives, we eagerly waited for our drinks but they took quite a while to arrive. It was over 5 minutes before the first drink came, and then we waited over 10 minutes for the food. The restaurant was crowded, but still, it felt like the service was slow. After we left, we noticed that glasses and plates were left on the table, and the view from the counter seats was not ideal as we could see people going in and out of the restroom. It was hard to enjoy our reunion with all these distractions. I don't think I'll be going back there anytime soon.

Daikyo is located in a student town known for its affordable dining options. This restaurant offers high-quality yakitori at a reasonable price. While yakitori is the main attraction, ordering sashimi (liver, gizzard) is also recommended. The course menu is a great option, including yakitori, two side dishes, and salad for around 1000 yen. The hot pot is surprisingly delicious and affordable too. The selection of sake and shochu is impressive, although the sake options can be a bit repetitive. However, the main focus here is the yakitori, so it's worth overlooking these minor issues. The only downside is that the part-time staff can be a bit slow and inexperienced. If they had more skilled staff, this place would be even better. If the timing is right, I would definitely want to visit this restaurant for daily use!
